All things tech - Tesla My goal is to highlight the autonomous (Full Self Driving) driving features as Tesla releases them to the public to help keep all of my friends and followers informed!
you said fsd had saved from 300 accidents, why didn't you say how many accidents it has caused? Or how many driver interventions were needed to save from an accident, it would be way way way way higher than 300. Why are cars allowed to have a driving system that is dangerous?
Hi. At 28:40 I think your car had spotted the blue car to your left was indicating right in an attempt to get into your lane. I feel that FSD was being incredibly polite and leaving as much space as possible for the blue car.
Greetings from Auckland New Zealand. This is an extremely honest review. I have been asking around owners of mostly Model 3 about issues with their Teslas and there is a rather uncanny common theme here between their experiences and yours except their mileage is a fraction of what your car's is. I love the shape. Respect your sincerity.
Hey, John, here's yet another idea for a video. I'd do it if I had better video equipment: Many drivers complain about nags. I, and many others, have a system in which they have a hand on one knee, lightly gripping the steering wheel and letting it slide through the hand when it turns. That's enough resistance to allow the car to register that you're there. You could also show that having two hands on the wheel sometimes doesn't allow enough resistance. You could do a video with the camera aimed at the hand to show how this works. If you do it, better hurry before the new versions that use only cameras to check. ;)
Just purchased a used MS and already have 2 strikes and im still learning how to use the autopilot. I'm learning but all this is new to me and a bit confusing
Suggestion for the illegally parked car trap: manually turn on right turn signal to see if FSD will pick up on the hint to go around the parked vehicles prior to disengagement. Either way, a training opportunity for FSD.
10:11 the funny thing is that yes, there are some minor issues with lane selection and other choices now. Surely it will get better, but it begs the question whether or not in the future when a HUGE percentage of cars are autonomous - will it even matter anymore? The cars will just do their thing and be safe even in weird scenarios that might confuse other human drivers. Maybe there won't even be a need for signals or traffic rules. India driving will be the status quo for the whole world with robot cars. lol
I for sure think that 9:00 that the method has been solved. To get to 99.999999% is going to take additional training, but in theory the endgame is in sight. Exciting times!
Yep, Chicago has some pretty messed up roads. New to the area drivers when on the lower level streets usually have a difficult time and tend to have to do several loops to get to where they are going.
I'm from germany and while people see musk critically as well, I never met anyone who thought musk is a nazi, that's insane and I think a misrepresentation that he said that.
I drove uber eats all day today using v12.3.6. Engaged FSD from each pick up to delivery location. Spokane Valley WA. Had to disengage in apartment complexes and parking lots. But no other issues. It drove like a native. Very cautious pull outs. Slowed at speed bumps. Careful around pedestrians. Very Very comfortable. Robo taxi service could start in spokane tmrw with designated PU / DO points.
i think it should be able to park anywhere and press "set this location as my parkingspot" and it saves so you dont have to do all this every time. should be pretty easy to fix
It might exit the tight parallell parking spot if you reversed it yourself. I guess that's what's missing. Tesla doesn't like reversing, as you did first when exiting manually. It drives very nicely, at least the first 7 minutes I've watched so far.
Thanks for the video. I would like to bring an empirical survey undertaken on the performance of Tesla's FSD into the discussion: This is the "FSD Community Tracker" that collect data on FSD performance (with 212 Tesla drivers). Check out their dashboard for more data. Currently (May 2024) FSD community tracker shows that 96% of drives have no critical disengagement and the average travel distance in a city between two critical disengagements has risen from 29 miles (FSD 10.10.x) to 171 miles (FSD 12.3.x). That is a considerable improvement but still far away of what human drivers accomplish. So FSD 12.3.x is still a driving assistant that requires attentive drivers, especially in cities. This is also the position of Tesla: "Autopilot and Full Self-Driving capability are intended for use with a fully attentive driver, who has their hands on the wheel and is prepared to take over at any moment." From an operations point of view Tesla's FSD could be more dangerous than simple assistant systems because it can lull drivers into a false sens of security. Most of the time FSD works perfectly well but every 171 miles (of driving in the city) immediate human intervention is required. This is also true for other partial driving automation systems: An empirical study from February 2024 in the Journal of Safety Research with drivers of Telsa Autopillot, GM Super Cruse and Nissan ProPilot shows that "users being more likely to engage in non-driving-related activities while using their systems than while driving unassisted. Super Cruise and Autopilot users especially were more likely to report engaging in activities that involved taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road."
Great editing, and love the overhead camera! Please consider moving the car screen to the top right corner. Also top left for your interior camera when you want to include that. Love your channel, definitely subscribing. 😊
Mine fails to read speed signs outside of Chicago. The highway is just a disaster where it slows down to the speed designed for trucks. Regular streets it reads junction signs as speed limits
Mine has also been super impressive. I’ve had this iteration about three weeks, also in Chicagoland. I don’t know why the CNBC talking heads pontificate about how it “only works on the expressway but not driving through town”. It’s phenomenal and I don’t even drive anymore, other than backing out of the driveway. FSD all the time.
Awesome! I can't wait to try out v12 when v12.4.X hits my car. I've been stuck on 2024.8.9 (FSD 11.4.9) for a while now. My commute has some moments of constant disengagements which I'm hopeful to try out with v12 to see if they get resolved. I've enjoyed your recent FSD videos which gives me more confidence to use FSD everywhere and getting more comfortable with it 🙂
@@jumbothompson Bad analogy. iPhone was revolutionary. We have excellent taxi services today: Uber and Lyft. A dumb Robotaxi is slower and less safe than a taxi with *human* *driver* .
