@techgeektesla1854 sometimes when my car slows down for what seems like no reason, I find myself second guessing if it sees something I'm not and should I be overriding the controls.

@@techgeektesla1854 FSD did ok here but let's not exaggerate how amazing it was; it didn't do the best job stopping smoothly and stopped a little too far back. That pedestrian was decently visible as you approached the crosswalk. Yes they got temporarily blocked by the cars passing in between, but the fact you didn't notice her is more about it actually being difficult to properly pay attention while babysitting an automated system. That is actually very hard to do and doing it while making a video makes it even harder (as would other more normal distractions like having a conversation with a passenger, fiddling with the radio, etc.).

I have been driving FSD 12.3.4 for most of my drives here in California and I feel that FSD is a more courteous driver to pedestrians than most drivers by far. We often compare our own driving styles to how FSD should drive but for the most part, the key metric should be safety, abiding traffic laws, preventing\avoiding accidents, and keeping humans safe.

Two men looking through prison bars one seem mud the other stars. I don't have a Tesla but it's plain to see all the hurdles / obstacles being resolved continuously. I have friends who constantly refer to dates given over the years and still not a 100% perfect delivery. Nothing in life is 100% but FSD is a lot safer than the average driver. Then everyone I know is convinced they are good drivers and way better than the average. Perhaps it's the word average that causes the confusion. Thanks you for the video. Tesla is doing a great job

They don't review camera button presses if you don't email them to tell them why you pressed the button. People used to press the button 10-15 times per video, but that alone does nothing. I'm also surprised you haven't enabled the fully autonomous speed setting on local streets. I might have missed an earlier video where you described why you're not using v12's speed controls. You can still adjust the speed on freeways and interstates because they're still using v11 on the highway stack, but I have been using fully autonomous speed controls on local roads with v12.

It would make a huge difference if governments and people who design the streets/parking lots, etc., worked with Tesla to make FSD work easier. Bigger/more visible signs, less obstructions, etc., FSD is the future and provides a huge benefit to society. It'd be stupid to not help with this effort.

*@thefudfarm* _look into the details_ Thank you for all your helpful comments. I've looked into the details of Mercedes Benz Drive Pilot, and here they are: ● It operates only on geofenced, precision mapped, limited access highways ● It operates only at speeds of 40 MPH and below ● It operates only in the same lane-no lane changes ● It operates only with a lead vehicle within 100 meters ahead ● It operates only in clear weather-no rain or snow ● It operates only during daytime hours ● It operates only with no direct sun on the cameras ● It operates only if the driver doesn’t avert his gaze from ahead for more than five seconds However, these details are not relevant; your comment did not specify the relative performance of full self driving cars you were referring to, only that they have "a small green light somewhere on all FSD [full self driving] vehicles so everyone on the road knows when a car is on full self driving mode." Since MB has been licensed to operate at SAE Level 3 in Nevada and California when all these conditions are met, it's certainly a full self driving car, and so it's included in the cars you recommend to have the "small green light". And since Mercedes Benz already does this with the cars equipped with Drive Pilot, your claim that "no one has this idea but me" is what I like to call *"FALSE".* _Stop being a headliner reader_ Oh, another helpful comment. Yes, I'll surely do this, as soon as I figure out what at "headliner reader" is. _learn how to research_ Well, I tried. How'd I do on my MB Drive Pilot research?

The wall was relatively thin and the B pillar camera had a completely unobstructed view of the car coming toward the area. When it went behind the wall at an angle that the cameras couldn't see it anymore, the car actually momentarily disappeared on the screen, so not actually permanently visualized. One time I was dropping my friend off at the hotel, i was surprised how it got pass the entrance and make a turn back(because that usually the way it works) and then stop right at the entrance and wait. I Do not own a Tesla myself. all the drives including uneventful ones are interesting to see how it's moving forward. I know people with disabilities or who are Blind who are very interested in Tesla achieving full autonomy because of its freedom of travel. There seems to be many different experiences from the comments. I don't know if some of them are because people are not clear on how to Set the travel profiles to ones that match their own personality. For example, those who like the assertive mode and those who like the chill mode and also the ability to adjust speed responses. I would presume those who are experiencing slow speed are either on a chill mode And/or have the auto speed options turned off.

Perhaps FSD thinks the road surface is rough so it slows. I had that yesterday with a lot of road cracks filled with sealer and mixed sun shadows. It also slows for striped bike lanes that cross the street which I think it believes are speed bumps. V12.3.4 One of the things i need for my area is for it to read corner speed signs. For example a rural highway with a speed limit of 55 and random corners signs of 35, 40 and 45. Clearly not reading them so i need to adjust max speed with the scroll wheel.

The driver can interact with it in real-time by voice to help it make certain decisions instead of forcefully overriding it. Still when it rains or foggy, the message shows up "Camera is blocked" "FSD not available" Also, it goes directly straight to portholes still and cannot reverse the car in parking lots due to no rear traffic alert. It also has problem with law enforcement vehicles, not knowing what to do last time it was crossing intersection and the police cars were apparently making left turn in front of my car already and it wanted to jump to the right lane when there was a motorcycle right next to it. And still, if you are on FSD, Tesla blames you for any type of mistakes and Tesla still won't take responsibility. If Tesla is confident about it, the company should start to take responsibility of any accidents while FSD is used. Yet, right before a rear-end collision, FSD cleverly disengages and Tesla would say, "the incident happened while FSD was not engaged" Of course, FSD was disengaged just a couple of seconds right before the incident. Oh well, for those hardcore Tesla fans, of course, their reasoning is just on it is so good at crossing when in fact my 17 years old daughter can do the same thing. It is to be expected as a good driver. Yet, can the car really avoid portholes like a human driver does? My Model 3 Performance was needing to go to Tesla service center due to FSD made it go straight into a porthole. It resulted a bent front rim, suspension joint failure. That is a cost of $1,700 and Tesla blames on me (the driver). Yet, the FSD did not disengage, the service center tried to argue that I was totally in control of situation. Yet, luckily the FSD did not disengage. In the end, I won and did not have to pay for the $1,700 (plus taxes). I dont' really trust their FSD with only up to 5 mp cameras and without lidar.

Trouble navigating with ideal visibility. How will FSD handle poor visibility such as heavy rain, fog or nighttime? Need more sensors than 8 cameras.

FSD should angle better into merge lanes while waiting. Better visibility to the rear and higher speed merges will be possible.

Still wondering how they handle different local laws. Will they have different datasets for each country? The behaviour at the crosswalk in Switzerland and in most Europe would be borderline illegal. At the crosswalk the car needs to stop, not creep. Over here children are thought only to cross the crosswalk when the wheels of the car come to a stop. And in most of Europe pedestrians have right of way on crosswalks. And so is the speeding, even 1 km/h over the speed limit (which is less than 1 mp/h) can end up in fines, some countries have ZERO tolerance.

19:38. I dont believe crosswalks mean the second a person is standing there you need to stop, thats not how it is, many times I am annoyed by cars that dangerously pull to halt just cause I walked up to a crosswalk instead of letting it happen naturally and let the cars clear then I can cross even without stopping cars, now if there was a long line of cars and it was going to make her wait forever thats a bit different but FSD stopping every time someone approaches a crosswalk is annoying

I think I see a camera button. Are you an OG? Newer subscriber so don't have the context. Answered my question 5 seconds after typing. 5 seconds later confused again. I am a October 2021 100 SS tester with no camera button today although had it then.

Yes, OG tester - I was added specifically by Elon Musk, I believe, after testing with some mannequins to prove Dan O'Dowd wrong during his initial smear campaign - it happened shortly after Elon started replying to several of my tweets back then.

How come you don't have auto offset on because you mentioned that a car was coming up on you and you said that you would be going faster but the car doesn't have permission to speed up with the auto offset off

You also said that the car can't read signs although it probably can't but it could at any point because remember that they are just uploading videos so it could learn at any release

@niemi5858 I am left wondering about a little legal something that's been on my inquisitive mind. Who is liable when a driverless car crashes? Will there be any type of disclaimer on a purchase contract for a self driving vehicle that removes any liability for the manufacturer if a software failure results in an at fault accident? Semi-autonomous vehicles and autonomous test vehicles are involved in about twice as many accidents per million miles as human-driven vehicles There have been accidents from Tesla and Uber, which have resulted in fatal accidents on public roads. Research concludes that product liability will be the major issue in terms of insurance issues and the manufacturer should be held liable for product failure unless other evidence favors the manufacturer. I wonder how Tesla addresses this potential minefield? Another question not many will think to ask - How many lawyers will buy an autonomous vehicle?

Didn't like that you starting in a parking lot. Too wide open to expect FSD to behave properly. It can drive you there if it's a destination but at some point, I would always expect to take over so that I can select my parking spot. On roads and in traffic is where I i want it to work, not parking lots.

If it will always need to be supervised it isn’t worth 8 k in my opinion. I think a lot of customers will be unhappy when Tesla comes out with autonomous and it isn’t an upgrade to FSD but a separate purchase. If Elon says differently I will pay the 8 k today.

"Tesla gets lost in parking lot but then redeems itself with incredible pedestrian awareness!" If you look at exactly 18:32, it first detects the Pedestrian at the crosswalk on the computer visualization, all the way from the crosswalk *before* that one! Then it keeps track of that Pedestrian, even when she was being being occluded by another car and predicts that the Pedestrian *might* be wanting to cross the walkway, and rightly brakes for her. Amazing, considering I don't think any human driver would have noticed her until right before the crosswalk and probably would never have stopped. She most undoubtedly went only after ensuring your Tesla slowed down and saw her, but imagine if that were a little kid not anticipating that. The Tesla would have done better than a human in that scenario!
