Holy I was having anxiety lol you should lower the truck so the to control the gravity. Those control arms would crush you. But dam I wish I had the shop and friends you guys had when I was your age. Props to you guys for out there making stuff happen and being boys doing men work.
Now I actually enjoyed this video, I still haven't found one tht explains turning, so, clutch, brake, gas as long as you're in second gear and still rolling? All I need to know now is pulling off from a stop fast enough to shoot a gap which I would assume just comes from learning your vehicle?
Hey man, just found your video and I'm glad I did. I didn't know the NV3500 won't bolt up to the TBI 5.7L. I was just about to order one. I have a short bed 1990 C1500 Silverado and the 4L60E just lost 3rd gear. I have a long bed 1990 K1500 4.3L 5 speed Silverado complete donor truck. I know I can't use that transmission or the long bed driveshaft, but I was going to use the clutch pedal, shifter, and steering column though. Steering column looks like a whole other project. I can bypass it with the auto steering column I think. So I need the older transmission? The 5LM60? Also, the issue you had with the clutch pedal bracket install, I think there is a support bracket that's riveted/spotwelded to the dash metal on the manual trucks that the autos don't have. Another video I saw showed them taking this horseshoe shaped bit off the dash of the donor truck for their clutch pedal. Thank you for this video. If you can help me out I will absolutely make a video and give you a shout out. It's cool to see other guys who love these trucks.
You had the transmission for the 2.8, now that won't work, 3.8 GM all the way to the 454 all the bell housing is the same, now there is different spline count on the input shaft, for the use of different clutches, I'm the transmission technician,
By far the best Tutorial i have seen yet. Just bought my first manual yesterday and its a larrning curve for sure. But you explaining how things function as youre doing it REALLY helps. Preesh!
I believe the transmission you were trying to remember was the HM290. One has an external slave cylinder(hm290) and the other has an internal slave cylinder(nv3500).
Hey I have a Chevy Silverado 2002 1500 4.8 8 cylinder and I want to swap to manual transmission my question is can a Chevy s10 manual transmission 6cyl 4.3 work on my Chevy Silverado?
Now that some time has passed have you come across any way to make the other transmission setup work im working on k2500 4x4 and putting in 4.8 having the same issue where cannot get them to go together i have the same amount of spacing between like an inch between the bell and motor where they wont slip together. just fought all morning and yesterday afternoon, Thanks for all info in the video looking like i might have to switch transmissions like you said or pull back out and try the old 5.7 clutch pad, they looks identical when comparing them i d///ont see why its not workinng damn this sucks kicking truck
