Scion tC2 (2011-2013) and tC2.5 (2014-2016) installs, part reviews, and DIY guides. I simply share my knowledge I gained while playing around on this car and my previous project car which was a turbo 2001 Corolla. I've also started adding computer and Windows Mixed Reality videos. This is my personal channel, so I may have other unrelated videos posted here.

Hello Derrick, hey i recently replaced the motor to my sunroof, but now im facing issues with having to reset it. Ive disconnected my battery and tried putting the car on ACC mode and pressing close button for 15+ seconds. Do you have any experience resetting the sunroof? I know it works because it still "clicks". Thanks.
I would assume so, but I don't know for sure since I haven't played with that material yet. I am actually getting the hood rewrapped with it by my friend at some point when I have time.
hey man! thanks for all the great content. I’m going to try to tackle this project soon but had a few questions. Where did you source the aluminum..? And how did you bend it exactly? Just with the vise and your hands..? Thank you!
@quentin1956 yes. The emblem is simply taped on. You can use some high tension fishing line and a heat gun to remove it, but I don't remember if there are any alignment pegs on the back of the emblem or not.
@VampyreX13 I should've made a more complete question as I left out a big part as I was sidetracked at the time , I had a mechanic install a lighted emblem but I want to replace it and am not sure how to
@@VampyreX13 yea that was it, thanks. hey quick question, i installed the same k&n intake you have but i noticed my mpg has dropped some. But i also put reflective insulation under the engine hood. Do you think thats the cause, maybe its just circulating the hot air in my engine bay? Thanks.
@@pableezie6890 have you changed your driving habits since you installed it, like accelerating a little bit faster or laying on the gas more? You should actually use a little less gas if it's sucking in warmer air because it's going to be less dense than cold air.
Like that it would not really fit in the vehicle as it is so long at the side so the fine-tuning, not that that is not still pretty heavy duty of assembly to the car requires another compressor tool?
I personally believe the whine itself is on the positive side....we look and overlook the negative but we can hear the whine...we dont hear negative only positive....i may ne wrong but it seems very plausible
i thought the break in period was 300 miles and i gave the car full gas about 6-9 times and did not notice any slip or clutch smell after around 300 miles, do you think my clutch is ruined?
Hey there! Do you know of any currently available racks on Amazon that should work for our Tc’s? None of the ones on your list are available anymore, and I’d prefer aero style racks, but anything would work😅
There are better tunes out there now and Matt with OV Tune is a dishonest thief. I drive a 2017 MT Offroad. Also wasted $700+ on tunes and now im locked out of all my tunes due to "being forced to pay to update"
Hey I'm looking into upgrading the handling on my tC i am not flooded with cash but i was thinking about getting the TB mid chassis braces and the C-pillar brace. I was told strut bars and braces are useless and to get sway bars but since they're difficult to find I was wondering if you had any input on which out of all these stiffening performance parts would be the best bang for my buck?
This is literally my EXACT issue. I was ready to give up on my transmission, and this video might have just saved me! The grinding happened AFTER the Toyota dealership did a transmission flush for me. My guess would be that they didn't have the exact fluid I needed and opted for another option that was "close enough". You are a life saver.
@MalcomHeavy I read somewhere that the actual OEM fluid for the transmission is only available in Japan and hard to get ahold of, but Red Line works great as an alternative. Please post up your results once you change your fluid.
@VampyreX13 Will absolutely do. I'll post a video one I get the fluid and put some miles in with it. If you are interested, I'm currently editing a video on swapping seats while still retaining the factory rails. Should have it uploaded sometime tomorrow.
@mw3isbetterthanmw22 That's a little strange. While these only really last about two years, they should be working great within that period. I was able to easily keep up on the twisting backroads with the Subaru car clubs whenever going on cruises, and they kept my tC planted stable on the road.
Did you upgrade to a high output alternator? I’m about to do it but curious if I need a different belt since pulley is smaller. Thank you for the video
@bryanalchemy369 the price has gone up, but I got a 250a one from amzn.to/4cCX98S. I've heard Brand X Electrical is supposed to be good in general from other people.
Hi Derrick so im coming back to this video to ask if the header as long as you have had it has had any effect on the plastics in the engine bay since you have no shield on it. Im currently converting a CNT discontinued header into a Dezod Green copy so I am debating if I should just leave it as is, or ceramic painting the header to protect the plastics/connectors from the heat
Dude. You are awesome. I just ordered this same spoiler and when it arrived I found that it had no two-sided tape. Another video shows people drilling and it looked like a major pain in the ass. This method was much cleaner and faster. Thank you again for making these awesome videos!
Really appreciate the video! I just finished the install and here's a few tips that weren't very clear, to me at least, in the video . 1. The bushings were not easy to push out for me. You need a pair of needle nose pliers and make sure you pull away from the all rubber side of the bushing. 2. This isn't the video hosts fault, but I blame the TRD instructions. For the U-Clip, pliers and a long screwdriver didn't do it for me. Instead, get a hammer and use the nail puller side to wedge u-clip out. 3. Make sure you install all the bolts correctly for the bracket extender. If you don't install them correctly and try to install it, you might have issues removing it like I did. Thanks again for making the video! It really helped and all my shifts are short and crisp now!.
2 years ago my shifting was very rough, I was having a lot of grinding when shifting from 1st to 2nd, even when warm. I thought I needed a new clutch or tranny but the car was supposed to have those replaced already (must have used cheap gear oil). So after some online research I changed my gear oil to Redline MT-LV and now it's as smooth as butter. Even in the dead of a Canadian winter, when it's at it's absolute coldest, it's super smooth every time I shift gears. My shifting is still super smooth 2 years later!! This stuff is the best, no doubt, and hands down !! Thanks Derrick !! (But for the very first time I was a little bit ahead of you. lol !!) Keep up the great work man !!! We all need you out here.😁
Hey Derrick question so I currently have this head unit, I have seen some Atoto have the start up logo on them. However I can’t seem to find anything on the A6 start up logo have you managed to do so? I want to put a Scion start up logo like on the OEM head unit
Since I don't see the logo unless I completely reboot the headunit, which is rare, I haven't bothered looking into changing the logo. I instead opted to use the AGAMA Car Launcher that had the option to use the Scion logo in the middle.
Nothing was wrong with it. I was just taking my ECU that was paired with the original OVTuner out so I can keep them together and just stuck another ECU in.
Hi Derrick, I read in a comment somewhere you said you preferred the wiring on the OEM fog lights because it ties in to the stock wiring somehow? Could you explain what the difference is, or if one could modify the winjet kit's wiring to be like the OEM kit? I'd prefer to get the OEM fogs but most Toyota part stores here ask for about $360 Canadian before tax and shipping, which is absolutely insane for a pair of fog lights lmao. Thanks
I don't know about how to modify the wiring to work with the OEM kit; that's going to be a pain because the harnesses connectors are different. It's been a while since I added fog lights to my tC, so lemme see if I can remember how it's laid out... there's a 2 pin plug behind the drivers side fog light hole that a splitter harness connects to that goes to the left and right fog lights. That plug runs to the relay box hidden under the car stereo (you need to add a relay) and then continues to the blank switch plate where you would install the fog light switch.
Wow, quick reply. Good to see you're still active. Anyway that's some useful info, I read somewhere else that most of the wiring is there even if the car didn't come with fog lights. Might be worth figuring out for people who want a more OEM setup. It sucks cause most of the price of the OEM is probably the light housings themselves, which I want to replace with projectors eventually anyway. I really just need the bumper inserts and the wiring.
@@jumanjingus I may not be posting videos at the moment, but I try to keep up with questions on my Channel. But yeah, the main wiring from the engine bay to the car interior is there. You just need the lights, the harness to connect both of them to the OEM wiring, a relay (I think it's the 2nd spot down on the relay block), and a switch (the connector in the car should be wrapped up in tape). Maybe you can find the parts at a junk yard?
It just has the overflow tank cap for refilling and the drain at the bottom of the radiator for draining. You can watch my video at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q1IGquYBBS4.html to see where the drain is.
I used strips of paper towel on the tape areas and soaked it down with goo-gone to keep it from going everywhere and a plastic razor blade but a rubber eraser will do the trick in 1/10th the time.
It should be about the same. The only difference is that some headunits use a 20-pin connector instead of 16, so some of the wires that would have been on a separate harness would be on the 20-pin one.
This is an old video. Since then, I've replaced the Borla with a Greddy catback exhaust, which is bolted directly to a Dezod Green header. I have a custom ram air intake and a 91 / 93 octane tuned ECU. If you need to install an O2 spacer, it would go on the mid pipe only and not the header.
I used to have a 350z and when I put on the mid-chassis brace, it made a world of a difference so I'm excited to install mine. Only concern I have is whether to wait or not because I have a mid-pipe on backorder and am curious if it's an easy work-around or if it would be better to just remove it for the installation.
When I had my Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator installed on the front of my mid pipe, the shop was able to unbolt, remove, and reinstall it without taking out the mid chassis brace.
