0:52 Opening statement is wrong. Sidewinder does NOT trace to some test in China Lake. Sidewinder traces to WW2 German homing torpedoes captured by Americans, when Americans seized control of German naval base etc.
I've found as you near the threshold you'll start bleeding off airspeed which will cause the aircraft to drop so you'll need to add power to keep 90 to 100 mph...keep adding or reducing power as you hold the plane off and slowly and smoothly touch down. It does work...had the same problem as you but after talking with some others about it I've been shown how it's done correctly. Come on back to X Plane supanova!
I felt that I'd covered everything I could previously with regard to tutorials, but I'd need to go back over it. I do have general plans to get back to the F-16, and that will probably include BMS. I'm just so rusty it will take a while to get back up to speed.
I've been watching a lot of overhead break videos and I really enjoyed this one. The music in particular, and extreme wide angle view made it really relaxing to watch.
It's a long while since I last landed the Hornet on a carrier, but I don't recall hearing a warning. The Hornet is built for a solid touch down, after all.
In the taxi instructions, I assume the 04 she gave you was which parking spot to use? How do you know which spot is which? I try to follow the parking spot numbering on the parking charts, but the number that shows up once chocks are in never matches the space labeled on the chart... As an example I did the landing training mission and they told me E P C 08, so I taxied from Echo to Papa to Charlie to the space listed as 08 on the parking chart but it told me I was in space F43 or something along those lines.
I haven't looked at the BMS charts for some time, but I have found often charts have differences, whether they are related to military or civilian sims. I think you just have to make the best of what you have in those instances.
It's a while since I last used X-Camera, but I can set views as required very similarly in both X-Plane 12 and MSFS. I wouldn't go back to X-Camera now. The only issue with X-Plane is that control naming can be quite obscure.
Thank you, a helpful video for newcomers. But i still have a few questions. 1- I wonder why taxi light is turned on? For scramble ops or so? If you do not turn it on just before you are going to move, you are going to blind ground personnel in front 2- I saw that people in many videos tend to put the radio altimeter to standby when it does not really have any harmful effect on humans. There is not even an option to turn it off in civilian aircraft.
The taxi light is an "as desired" item. You will see different schedules with different checklists. I'm not sure about radar altimeters not having harmful effects, but that's an entire subject in itself.
Take a look at this cockpit, can you see what is wrong? Take a look, no Heading change knob and no OBS knob on the HSI, I'm dammed if I can get this to display on the latest version of X-Plane 11, perhaps its a deliberate bug to make us get buy X-plane 11? I tried X-plane 12 and cannot see the benefits yet.
Hi, really good tutorial and explained well and at a good pace to follow. I’ve copied this setup in BON. Two spits take off and fly to another airfield as a simple learning exercise. It works but my wingman doesn’t land. He stays in formation and as I enter the circuit he just crash lands nearby. I’ve linked my aircraft to the last way point with a land at object. My wingman is linked to me and this works as he follows. Do I need to link the last way point to him to trigger him to land as well? Thanks. PS will also experiment and post if I work it out.
Why you doing your content like a you are flight school contractor ? You are definitely explaning what is for what and I can see that you are good at this topic. Good job and thank you for this content. I follow you right now !!
I don't consciously approach videos as a flight instructor. The goal of my videos is to present as much information as I can within the shortest amount of time, but I recognise that can be interpreted differently.
@@supanova88 I hope you didn't get me wrong. I just wanted mean your contents involves labor and care and your explanations are great. Sorry my English if i cause misunderstanding ! :) i would want to see more content like these !
The first video didn't do well with regard to views. However it did do reasonably well with subscriptions. I would like to complete the series, but I'm at the mercy of the RU-vid algorithm and what it expects on the channel.
FYI I talked to an ANG F-15C pilot. He told me their JHMCS not only gave nav, radar and weapon info but actually displayed his wingmen, bogeys/bandits and missiles in the air, and that there are lines that go from wingmen to targets to show who they're tracking, and lines from missiles in the air with lines to who they were locked on. I said, " I read all the journals and I've never seen that, are you sure that info's supposed to be out there?" He blinked like, oops, and said, "Well it's out there now!"
Bro you just committed a nozzle strike as you touch down because the angle of attack used to touchdown is more than 13 degree and the maximum aoa for touchdown is 11 to 13
I have read more manuals for the F-16 than most. I'm well aware of the desired angles, but a clunky Thrustmaster stick is not an ideal instrument. I also find the judgment on landing as tiresome. Every F-16 landing devolves into a mindless grading exercise. If I did this full time I might be able to perfect landings.
The ICP is the Integrated Control Panel. You can think of that basically as the controls under the HUD. ILS does cover some fairly complex topics, but if you've mastered the standard approach and landing it should come with practise. To familiarise yourself with the cockpit I would recommend the ramp start tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zLpjwuEsTGc.html
I'm going to clarify some points from this video: 1) This is not intended as a Cessna 172 pattern tutorial. I mention that it's the stock MSFS 172 and KLSE purely out of courtesy 2) The numbers flown during the pattern are not "too fast" - below is a link to a video in which a CFI flies 90 on downwind, 80 on base, 70 on final, 65 on short final, and 60 "over the fence" * 3) When I state "flap deflection up to 15° primarily produces lift with minimal drag" I'm not referring to a specific Cessna 172 flap setting, because, again, this tutorial is not specific to the Cessna 172 4) And when I refer to calculating airspeeds I'm referring to the FAA's Airplane Flying Handbook. I don't necessarily agree with those speeds, but I have included them because they are FAA guidelines * ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ac5c8nXSO0s.html I would also like to say I detest people that use a little flight sim knowledge to try to bully and belittle others. I'm perfectly happy to receive critiques of my videos. We're all here to learn. But I won't put up with bullies. I'm afraid people like that make the flight sim community poorer.
Just wanted 2 ask - there's absolutely no pitch movement on the stick at any point once ur On Speed AOA yes? B it Carrier Overhead of Airfield Overhead cuz I'm always left to wonder as I've seen lost of vids with at least some minimal pitch adjustments...
I think ideally you're looking to make no pitch adjustments, but you can use pitch to fix errors and then catch up with throttle input. Pitch is more immediate and power will take longer to catch up. But ideally you want to reach a point where you're skilled enough to always be ahead of the game using power.
