They are dozen of versions of this song by great artists, but none, in my opinion ( my ears, heart and guts) reach the emotion of the original by Robert Johnson, like they do. We have to give attention to the lyrics.
Í remember your 15th birthday party, she had a headache, I fixed it!; Yeah. My favorite teacher was Ms Antou, your next door neighbor, on grant, we had a discussion about you. Not to mention Geneva's birthday party at the church when the cops showed up. Dude, you were a real one.
I love this song when I first heard it ,it was Steve Millers version of it and thought cool I just listened to her version of it and it is also very good in a total different style , just gos to show that a good song is a good song and can be done many different ways and styles and it's still a good song ! Thank you and enjoy it !
I hate to be negative... But what a soul-less version of this GREAT song... REALLY! Get some BALLS in the vocal. And you don't get it by just shouting. Pretentious banjo solo too. Oh dear!
Peter was kind enough to write out the middle tapping part of this for me on a napkin after a gig in Burlington, VT. Been playing it at my own gigs for about 20 years :-). Great guy and great musician.
What a talent Aoife is ! Such a fantastic voice and her songwriting and compositional skills are exceptional , fossils and magic hour are brilliant as is her work with I'm with Her
Hints of John Renbourne, Michael Hedges Pat Kirtley definitely in a super class of guitars and musicians. a wonderfully talented man thanks for posting his performance.
Hi Kathy! Might you have a Tab for Black Rabbit? Peter is looking to see if he might. There used to be one on a fan page of his that was linked to his website yers ago but that is gone. I would so appreciate that!
I just resurrected an old iPod for the expressed purpose of finding this album. I thought it was going to take forever, but you can't stop radio. In the process, I stumbled upon Devon Wrecks and Friendly Foes. Thanks for making excellent music. You rock.
Cute song, but no, that's not how life works. There's no "design" involved, "intelligent" or otherwise. There's no "creator" or "designer", and no need for one. The process is called "evolution", which works though a combination of random mutations + "natural selection" (the fact that creatures with some sets of genes have a better chance of passing those genes to the next generation than creatures with other sets of genes). Life (and, for that matter, non-life, such as galaxies, stars, planets, mountains, oceans) thus evolves over time through mutation and selection. That which "works" survives BECAUSE it works, and that which DOESN'T work, goes the way of the dodo (extinct).
A terrific performer live, Chris is a excellent musician. This is a terrific song. Please see my version, a tribute to Chris, which is here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JNKyMEJSm6A.html
I heard this first, tonight in a concert in Wisconsin. Peter is off the chain amazing. Really, a genius...a word I do not toss around. Powerful, deep, personal, political... a much needed artist in a day when so many artists prioritize opinion and avoid controversial statements. He is his own man. A pleasure...I had no idea what I was getting into.
I just requested this on his Facebook Live concert, and he played it. It's so good to hear how it's grown and changed over the years. And man, thank G-d we still have Peter.
My hubby and I first discovered you years ago, on a trip to the outer banks (NC) and fell in love with your music and your voice. We also fell in love with Christ Smither, just by chance, and just recently, we see that he posted about you on face book. Keep up the great work.
