I agree, it is a cash cow to have rights to SB titles, but I don't think it's a cash grab to put out Li Han Hsiang films. He is a director of some repute, as you have said. A contemporary and friend of King Hu and a signicant artist in his own right. A little diversity from kung fu and horror can only be a good thing but, I agree, some contextual extras would have been very welcome.
Way much better than the so called American action imitation and terrible Hollywood knockoffs courtesy of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean claude van damme, Chuck Norris, mel Gibson, Steven Frederick Seagull and Bruce Willis who rely on autoaim when they fire a weapon that cannot hit a target practice and deliver ridiculous punch lines with parody catchphrases
Ah yes Shaw Brothers going Jiangxi (hopping vampires). Absolute bonkers to enjoy the film during the Shawtember marathon, especially today (Friday the 13th). I want to get this film as well along with To Kill a Mastermind but aside from physical extras including art cards and a slipcase, there are no visual extras whatsoever not even a commentary which is disappointing for Shaw Brothers collectors out there. May Lee Hoi-Sang rest in eternal peace as usual. Such an iconic supporting actor who made several Golden Harvest films including Knockabout and later made several TVB shows including Journey to the West. And James Earl Jones too.
It was a damn shame they didn't beef these up, considering the fans that want to see classics like these looked after. And yes, so sad to hear about Lee Hoi San - just learned this minute of Tsui Siu Keung's passing also :((
@@invincibleasiaofficial Yeah I’m a bit shocked to hear that Tsui Siu Keung passed away in Beijing during my sleep. He’s such an icon in such Shaw Brothers classics like The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Clans of Intrigue, some Golden Harvest ones like Duel to the Death and The Sword (finally on blu!), and even ATV shows like Reincarnated (The Bastard Swordsman was the Shaw Brothers version of this ATV classic show in case you’re wondering).
Out of the 3 Shaw releases this month from 88, this is the best film and it's been screaming for a remaster. It predates all of the Hopping vampire films from Golden Harvest and I think it's way better, but I am biased as Lau Kar-leung is my favourite director. As you say it's a shame there is no extras but it's got the HD treatment. That means only Cat versus rat and Lady is the boss need Blu-ray treatment and I have heard we will get 1 of those soon.

Part of me loves 88 Films for putting out films like this, but part of me wishes they would just focus on wuxia and not sexploitation. So when I heard they were releasing Golden lotus and Facets of love, I wish they would release Tiger killer instead.
I'm interested in watching more Shaw Bros of any kind, so I'm definitely picking this up. I really hope we get as much of the Shaw Bros library on Blu-ray as possible. Although I agree with one person in the comments here that they should reduce the price if they don't include special features or a booklet.
Yes, I enjoy the most of their catalogue to be honest. So fingers crossed they keep them coming :) And yes, knocking a few quid off for these 'less packed' releases would be good. Thanks for watching!!
I do like 88 films and what the release but these bare bones releases should be a bit cheaper as there isn't much with them. Like you said no poster or booklet.
I’m a big Jackie fan and completist and I agree, I won’t be revisiting this movie. Infact (spoiler for those who’ve not seen it) when Jackie’s character was pointlessly killed off that’s when I turned it off.
This was one of those films Celestial chose not to remaster when they acquired Shaw brothers back catalog and it's kind of head scratching as to why they didn't, especially when you see utter toilet like Coward bastard. It was really rare and only existed on poor quality copies with subs missing and awful print quality. I know it hasn't got all the bells and whistles, but this is a top release. I am hopeful we might see other rare Shaw films get an upgrade. Cheers mister.

So happy to see the 88 Films Shaw line return but a real shame there is little to no extras on any of them, I would have loved a booklet to accompany each to help support buying day one. Still I assume the lack of extras means they shouldn't suffer any release day delays for a change.
Bit of a double sided sword for me with you often talking about like the media books and stuff from Germany. I thought you know what I’d go on that site and just like have a look and I order a load of stuff and half of it came everything in the description on Amazon said English subtitles that I bought and only half of it had English subtitles and now I’m having a deal with Amazon trying send them back. I’m like, have you got any tips on how to the best of our ability? Not get forward into buying the wrong items? It’s just a question mate you’re not accountable you know just thought it be handy. I've only ever had 2 or 3 without subtitles, but only because I knew they didn't - although wanted the movie. The most of these films in the mediabooks (all of which I point out the language and subtitles) do have English subtitles!
I love these releases but yeah the way the discs are situated makes if feel like they could snap when you take them out. Not the best design. Still an absolute must buy. Thanks for letting me know about these.

man some cool ex rental tapes, i have a few of the black ones they were the very early boxes, then they brought out the clear ones, at one point i had over a 1000 VHS and betamax videos that i bought back in the 80s and lots of ex rentals after a while they would have a basket full of them selling them cheap, luckily i still have all my martial arts ones and some others about 200, i skipped 100s when i move about 20 years ago but kept all the sleeves of all the b movies and thats 100s, what a score you got, i have the man the myth and a few others, your face opening them was so genuine i love that enjoy, must buy a VHS player again and yes im old enough to remember video players coming out in the 70s, ill stop boring you cheers man awesome video
Awesome VHS haul! Those tapes are gorgeous, I love when they use the original artwork from the posters for the box art. They're in great condition too. The release of the Severin box set had the same effect on me, and I started collecting Bruceploitation tapes a few months ago. I had gotten rid of my original Bruceploitation VHS collection 15 or 20 years ago when I moved, and I regretted it almost immediately. My new collection is at over 40 tapes, with more on the way! That DRAGON BRUCE LEE tape is weird one, because the artwork is obviously Dragon Lee but it says Bruce Le, Richard Harrison, and Hwang Jang-lee are the stars, so it has to be CHALLENGE OF THE TIGER. I hope you get more Bruceploitation tapes and unbox them for us in the future!
Thanks! It was pretty good to get them all :) I will be keeping my eyes out for more. I actually had Challenge Of The Tiger Ex-rental back in the 90s (wish I still did) so I don't know. It's (Dragon Bruce Lee) also known as Big Boss 2 I think, so I will watch soon to confirm :)
@@invincibleasiaofficial I have Dragon Bruce Lee, Part II/Big Boss 2 on VHS under the title of Chinese Goliath. They were pushing Bolo as the star instead of Dragon Lee. It's one of the most rewatchable Dragon Lee movies for me.
It was mental in Chinatown like I’d walk in there and every shop you went into nobody sells movies. Nobody sells movies and yet you go to Camden and you had the Easter and hero shop and I swear to God I wish that thing was like a big thing still because you walked down the stairs to go into the shop and it was like a corner shop, but you had to go down the stairs and there was like cinema posters literally wallpaper Floor roof everywhere a little counter it up these shelves of just like I’m not gonna make accusations but I’m pretty sure they were as dodgy as the guy because if you looked at the covers they were shocking but you know you found somewhere that you go and yeah, it was so far away and it was just oh my days is an eternal Rose was the first film I bought from there and for anyone that hasn’t seen the end I won’t ruin it but like an amazing movie just spent 80 quid on this month two copies with subtitles obviously one of them needs to go but isn’t very helpful when it comes to movies

If you tell me this is in English sub I’ll go for it but after the day that I’ve just had and the day that I’m about to have tomorrow I bought a load of blurays off of Amazon Germany and I only bought stuff that they claimed had English subtitles so far with today’s I had one out of four that actually had English subtitlesbad Times when Amazon start screwing you over on another note I did want to say thanks George because you did show the angel terminator media book and mine did come today and it’s absolutely stunning just like you said so thank you very much
It does indeed have English subs and multiple language tracks. Was a pretty good buy actually! Glad you got the Angel Terminators mediabook. Such a great piece :)
