To the best of my knowledge, none of the ISPs available in the NYC area (and there are quite a few of them) have data caps. Ain't competition grand? When I moved into my current apartment 5 years ago, I signed up for Optimum's advertised $39.99/month 200 Mbps plan. Of course, there were some taxes and fees that weren't included in the advertised price. With those fees, the price literally doubled! But I only paid $58/month because I had purchased my own cable modem and router. Optimum charged $10/month for each. By spending $150 upfront, I saved $240/year. Last year, I switched to FIOS because they offered me 300 Mbps service for $29.99/month, including all taxes. Honestly, I didn't believe I'd only have to pay $30/month. I assumed there would be a catch, but I've had the service for over a year and haven't been charged more than $29.99. I didn't even have to get my phone service from Verizon. I have a $25/month 20GB plan from Mint, which uses the T Mobile network. That's more than enough data for me. There is a catch, though. You need to pay for a year in advance to get their best rate. But it's definitely worth it, IMHO. I had an interesting conversation with an Optimum account manager last week. He knocked on my door to ask me if there was any way he could convince me to switch back to them. He told me they no longer charge equipment fees and that the advertised prices include taxes. However, when I told him how much I was paying, he said I should stick with FIOS. Out of curiosity, I asked him what TV service would cost, and he told me that they don't offer TV-only plans anymore because they now stream TV, but only to their Internet customers. I asked him about their TV plans because I am really unhappy with Hulu's Live TV service. While I do not love their interface, my major complaint is their DVR. Hulu won't let me fast-forward through commercials! I pay extra for a plan without ads because I have no patience for commercials in my middle age. But “no ads” apparently only apply to on-demand content. Obviously, the reason is that Hulu sells live content ads to advertisers. I used to have RU-vid TV, which I liked, but I had to cancel it when they dropped SNY, the NY Mets RSN. I've thought about switching to FUBO, but they are reportedly in danger of going bankrupt, which is why they are suing to prevent the launch of Venu Sports. Plus, I don't know that their DVR doesn't do the same thing, especially if they are in financial trouble. Besides, I do have a Hulu DVR hack. I keep a PC connected to my TV. I always use the PC to watch recorded content because I can jump past ad breaks with my mouse. But it's still annoying. I can't wait for SNY to start letting people subscribe to it directly. I will probably won't bother to subscribe to a live TV service after that.
Hello, thanks for the video. One comment I have seen quite a few times is the high volume of commercials. Are these commercials/ads only shown on on demand shows, or also live TV? Let's say im watching the Fox News Channel, whil a "Sling ad" interrupt the broadcast?
What he didn't mention was previous channel, although maybe wasn't available when he uploaded..if you want to go back and forth from live channels, not library, you simply press and hold select/enter button. Comes in handy
It was not available at recording time. I have mentioned it in more recent videos, including this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k_gxMlLQYOY.html Thanks for watching!
wait, so it has no real original streaming shows? just crappy repeats on cable along with reality shows? i'm not paying a benjamin a month for that junk tv.
do not care for T.V. anymore. only watch my local news for the weather only. The rest of the news I do not care for. also do not and will not sign up for any streaming service. When the weather goes off, I turn over to HSN or QVC for a night light only in my bedroom while on my laptop. television has gone to crap with all the junk shows on.
I’m sorry I watch local stations too like the bachelor, Hell’s Kitchen etc, I have direct tv I don’t have a package with a lot of sports in it, and enjoy my local news every mourning with my coffee at 0600. Yes I watch football sometimes on sundays, but I have my package for bravo, Tlc, cnn, etc and will be pissed if my local channels are removed. I think they should outlaw this, when there’s a storm like we just had with this damm hurricane, I turned my local news on and they were showing tornado info for my town etc. my local networks are not just for sports, that’s what espn is for
Outside of sling, when cost of Internet is applied. Theres no real savings to be made. Get an Antenna, go to antennaman. Those that are in apartments, You may have issues unless you have a window facing the direction of the towers. I have cable internet which is 45 bucks and Philo for cable and Prime which comes out to 85 a month. I use an Antenna and the free TV that comes with Roku and Pluto.
They have no actual customer service. You are referred to a subscription service called " just ask", where, for $30 a month you can ask questions about anything you want except how to get real customer service from youtube tv.
$75/mo is insane !! That's basically club right back to cord costs. $9-$15 / mo MAX ....and u can't get rock solid iptv with all the channels, ppv, nfl...etc. I use Apollo, and ASO. they're both excellent. ASO is a little easier - Apollo only accepts crypto (which sucks).
I travel for a living in a commercial truck. I found out the Verizon 5g Home Internet is geographically locked. In other words you cannot use it on the road or in different locations other than wherever your home address is. So you can't use it in your RV as a mobile hotspot from campground to campground - even if you turn it off and on again. I thought this might be an inexpensive alterative to my 5g Verizon jetpack and get around the 100gb limit of traffic on the Jetpack. Nope - as I said this device is geo-locked to your home. So if you travel all the time like I do then you can either get Starlink Mobile or use your phone as a hotspot or get something like a Verizon Jetpack. How do I know this? I got one at the Verizon store. I asked the CSR if the 5g receiver was ok to use on the road to replace my JetPack. Was told yes! Of course it will work anywhere (are you stupid or something?)! Sure.....Worked just fine when I initially set it up. Drove 600 miles - turned it on - got a red light, called Verizon and was told "Yeah.....That unit doesn't have the ability to work from city to city (location to location) basically its GeoLocked to your billing address". That's what I learned after waiting on hold for 40 minutes only to speak with someone in India named Steve.
Don’t miss or need my local channels. Don’t provide me with “news” designed to get me to think a certain way - give me the truth and the facts and let me decide for myself. This has taught me that I don’t really need TV anymore.
@@cwlong0803 depends where you live. Check here: support.fubo.tv/hc/en-us/articles/115005151127-What-local-ABC-CBS-FOX-NBC-and-CW-stations-does-Fubo-carry
I think I've tried all the TV streamers at one time or another. RU-vid TV works for me. I do watch a lot of live sports and news. I really like the DVR feature. I DVR everything. That way. I never miss any game or program that I watch on a regular basis. I also use it to be able to fast forward through commercials. I'll wait a half an hour before I start watching something just so I can speed through commercials. For example, I like the fall FBI series shows on CBS. They air them all in order in one evening. I have them all recording. I'll start the first one a half hour after it began and then I can fast forward thru the commercials on all three of those shows. Same for sports. I also like being able to watch four games at once for like college football or March madness. So yeah costs are going up but that's my preference for RU-vid TV
Finally did it. Was with Direct TV for 20_+ years but after there last dispute with Disney and their raising prices again, I switched to You Tube TV and for the most part am totally fine. Went from 225 a month to 75 a month with almost all the same programming. Only thing I don’t like is having to open the app each time rather then having everything just turn on, but for that savings I am ok with it.
If you can get Google fiber they are the best. $60.00 and my fees have not gone up in 5 years. I am sure they will at the end of this year, but its been a good deal.
I cancel mine since their speeds dropped from 170-200mb - 7-25mb. They would go up again on spped after 1or 2 am. Not worth it. i went back to spectrum for $29.99 @ 500mb
