Ideally, this will convince the big 3 to allow Fubo to offer a sports-only streaming bundle for less than their current packages. I think that is something they wanted to offer, but Disney/ESPN said no and made them add their additional channels which drove up the price. This option would actually make some good competition.

@ricosanchez3432 Месяц назад
This has been the whole point of the lawsuit and I still don’t understand why people keep defending WBD/Disney/Fox. Let people get this sports skinny bundle on RU-vid TV/fubo/Hulu live. There’s no need for yet Another subscription service on top of the already overwhelming amount of streaming services. They just want to keep the status quo, raising prices year by year and forcing people to go DTC

I’m not going to proclaim to be an antitrust expert however I did used to work in the antitrust division of the DOJ. I worked on many cases similar to this one and for people trying to say that Fubo doesn’t want competition sorry but you all can’t be more wrong. This new service is as clear of an antitrust violation I’ve ever seen and just as strong as the one the NCAA had been perpetrating for generation. Basically by forcing TV providers to carry certain networks in order to get ESPN, FS1 or TNT that raised the cost to you the consumer. However when Disney, Time Warner and Fox decided they would come together to offer a service and not have say FX (or any of the other subchannels) and undercut the price while not letting TV providers offer the same that is an antitrust violation. This is basically like saying that we are going to run a 100 yard race but Venu gets to start at the 50 yard line while the TV providers have to start at their own 1 yard line. As consumers everyone should be rooting for Fubo to win this suit because it will force the TV companies to offer smaller packages at cheaper prices.
@thomass5169
@thomass5169 Месяц назад
I am amazed at people commenting against fubo and their obvious legitimate win. The level of ignorance as to what is actually happening here is astounding. If the JV gets their way, you will all be paying the maximum amount of money for watching sports on a go forward basis. Competition would be ended in the Sports streaming world. That 42.99 is extremely temporary. Designed to put all competition out of business. Wake up sports fans.

Gotta love government impeding competition, and thus, the consumer gets screwed and pays higher prices.
@kenyattaclay7666
@kenyattaclay7666 Месяц назад
This is not the government impeding competition. ESPN, FOX and Time Warner are the ones trying to impede competition by trying to force TV providers to carry subchannels that they don’t want. TV providers have been asking for years to have the ability to offer similar packages but if they wanted ESPN then Disney told them they had to carry all of their cable networks and by doing that the cost to the consumer goes up. However, when they come together to form a new service but don’t have to carry any of the subchannels they are creating an antitrust situation. This is as clear of an antitrust violation as the NCAA.
@shanew7361
@shanew7361 Месяц назад
@kenyattaclay7666 That's one perspective, or the government could deny the lawsuit, lol
@kenyattaclay7666
@kenyattaclay7666 Месяц назад
@@shanew7361 Number one I need to point out to you that the government isn’t even involved at this point. This is a civil suit between two private parties so I don’t know where you are getting this government stuff from. Number two, if the government does get involved it will be the antitrust division of the DOJ and they will bring a separate suit against Venu for antitrust violations but that has yet to happen. Number three, I used to work at the antitrust division & at least one of two things is happening right now, they are keeping an eye on this suit and they are looking into it themselves. Just like the NCAA lawsuit and the one against the NFL for Sunday Ticket they will likely let the two private parties battle it out in court and if this gets to a jury i can 100% guarantee you that Venu will lose because there is no question whatsoever that what they are doing is anticompetitive. This is something as a consumer you should be rooting for because if Venu is successful in getting rid of its competitors then your cost will only continue to go up.

So much for competitive markets
@biblebelter9772
@biblebelter9772 Месяц назад
What sports bundle would Venu be competing with? The answer is NONE. The content providers who created Venu would not allow the sports to bundled in another bundle. Fubo had requested the content providers to allow them to offer a sports bundle but they were denied. This goes back to the days when the movie production companies owned the theaters which was eventually disallowed as that was anti-trust. Same applies here.

Coming in now after Disney decided to give the middle finger to all consumers and directv. The concept of Venu makes total sense and sounds great in concept, but Disney’s anti competitive behavior is disgusting. 2 major red flags raise in my mind. 1) We all know exactly what Disney would do with this; they’d ride the hype with an early price that people would unanimously agree makes the sports channels offered worth it…then hike it up. 2) it’s entirely uncompetitive and anti consumer to force the competition (Directv, RU-vid, Charter, Fubo) into paying all this money for ALL your (Disney’s) channels, then undercut them with the diversified approach they can’t match. It’s mind boggling the control they’d hold in the market, with zero consumer competition. We’d all see the competition prices (to cover the fees they pay Disney), switch to Disney in response, then have our prices raised again with no going back. IMO, TV providers and Channel programmers should be barred from ownership in each other.

exactly now we are stuck using youtube tv for over $70+ and an antenna to get the stuff youtube tv refuses to offer like certain sports networks. I have a feeling when nbc sports chicago goes off air they wont carry the new network and its over the air option leaving many to pay directly or not pay youtube tv if they cant get a signal regardless due to the prices of everything. RU-vid TV lost regardless due to dropping too many good networks in exchange for garbo reruns. If you wanted reruns and some new stuff they could had subscribed to frndlytv or philo which have the better rerun networks on top of the ones youtube tv has already. Who in their right mind would pay for freeform and disney channel in 2024 nowadays.

@shackdaddy7106
@shackdaddy7106 Месяц назад
@@thomass5169 are you not aware that fubo does not have the Turner networks. Which means it does not have the NBA this year or March madness. Or the MLB playoffs on TBS. Or the Tuesday night baseball on TBS. And it doesn’t have the college football playoff games that will be televised on TNT. Or Wednesday night NHL hockey on TNT and the Stanley Cup playoffs. Plus it doesn’t have Turner classic movies. Fubo will be out of business by the end of next year. This is just delaying the inevitable. Fubo just does not have the financial resources to compete with Hulu with live TV and RU-vid TV. and even Sling TV.

@kenyattaclay7666
@kenyattaclay7666 Месяц назад
Sorry but that is COMPLETELY not the case & honestly I don’t know how you even see it that way because its the other way around. This Venu venture is as clear an antitrust as there ever has been. The fact that the networks force TV providers to carry subchannels yet want to have an app where they don’t carry those subchannels is anticompetitive as hell. The simple fact is if TV providers go away because they have to carry the other channels they don’t want then the ultimate price for the consumer goes up.

@timbo303official9
@timbo303official9 Месяц назад
Nobody because fubotv is overpriced compared to directv stream for more channels fubotv doesn't have. Also youtube tv could easily win against everyone if they offered a lot of the rsns too but nope. RU-vid tv goes out of its way to remove good sports networks even if they are over the air which are usually cheaper than rsns itself and leave some useless stations on there. I think fubotv really needs to win the lawsuit but make disney unbundle networks. Otherwise we need to wait for espn and nhl network with DTC offers since they are the only two major holdouts. I know fox sports is a holdout however you rarely need it since its only good for mlb playoffs.

It won’t be long until fubo is fubar anyway. All these live TV services are going to bite the dust eventually too many channels people don’t want to watch. So when the contracts for fubo come up for renewal, just don’t renew them if people want their sports they will subscribe if they don’t, they won’t or, get rid of all these nonsense channels that people don’t watch. Renegotiate contract at $42 for Fubo customers who want to subscribe get rid of the old sports plan. I don’t think there’s a lot that says you have to do business with a company
@TomCampbell-u7x
@TomCampbell-u7x Месяц назад
It's hard to get rid of the nonsense channels when Disney, Discovery, and Fox require the live TV providers to purchase these channels if they want to offer ESPNs, FS1/2, etc., as just a sports package.
@chrisfisher6458
@chrisfisher6458 Месяц назад
@@TomCampbell-u7x right Disney discovery and Fox should get rid of all of their nonsense channels. I’m aware that they make live TV providers pay for those. But if they want theirs sports streaming service to thrive, that would be the fair thing to do. I can’t believe the ad revenue on these other stations. Is that significant that they keep them running?

This is a win, albeit temporary, for consumers of sports media. Venu sports is really bad news. Now, we just need someone to block other monopolies and anti-competitive sports services and conferences that collide (SEC and ESPN, Big10 and Fox.)
