Damn. Dude's a hero. Saving people lots of 💰💰💰 I just did this on my A3 hatchback. My wife thinks our son tripped up the lock when he kept trying to open the locked door before I hit the unlock button on the key.
Yo Mr. Manitoba ... Thank You! After I couldn't make the adjustment with the screws I figured it was time for a new opener .... UNTIL ... I found your video. I had the same exact problem, the black wire was sheared in half. Now you have 1 comment and it's a 10.
Holy $#!T this worked. Just bought a used Q5. A few days later I learned that the rear passenger door wasn’t locking. I spent $100 on a new actuator, took the whole door apart, then realized I needed a triple square bit for the last two screws. I was looking for some replacement screws since mine were already slightly stripped when I came across this video. Decided to give it a try…. Now I actually get a chirp when I lock the doors. Hopefully I still have time to return the actuator I bought.
I kept the latch that I purchased just in case. If I don't hear a chirp when I lock the doors, then I'll know to check it again. We'll see what happens. @@mrmanitoba
BEWARE!!!! Be carful i had the same problem my back door wouldn't lock so i tried this method turned it sideways yes it locked from the outside and now it don't open from the inside so its a dead door only way is to destroy the door panel from i side do at your own risk!!!
Bro thank you so much for this tip, saved me a ton $$$ and worked, only thing is I have to twist the nob every time I need to lock it but I can live with that haha. Easy fix!! Appreciate the help once again 🙏
Definitely worked thank you so much. I’m still having trouble fixing the drivers side because the mechanism doesn’t have the same shape as the other doors
Anyone know why my drivers side does NOT have this adjustment? (2009 Q5 Pr. Plus package 3.2L Quat) I’m having very same symptoms but (of course) the failing door does not seem to have this adjustment - there’s a white plug, but there is no way to turn the white adjustment. In other words, there’s no recessed area to fit the key or a screwdriver in there why?
Tried this on my Audi A3 today and it worked but kept failing after I locked the car again. The mechanism keeps moving, if I turn it and it opens, after I shut it a couple times it reverts back to another position it’s so frustrating! Does this mean it’s actually broken? My door was fine until I took it to my mechanics last week for an MOT! Really annoying issue.
My man!!! I had this issue on my Bday, going to dinner with my family. Figured I have to visit the dealer, and dealer pricing right before Christmas. I tried this, and wouldn't ya know...success!!!!!!! Thank you!
Love the video and I’m liking the comments, been holding off from not going to pay probably for an actuator when it’s as simple as this. I’ll come back and update my comment if this works lol.
Thank you! I turned the white knob fully clockwise on my passenger front door which helped ACTIVATE my passenger rear door which was stuck locked after the actuator went out and child lock was ON. THANK YOU!
My 2016 Q3 has had this issue for gosh knows how long. It gives me a lot of anxiety sitting in parking lots as it wouldn’t lock on either front doors. Figured it would cost an arm and a leg. Well. Googled it up and I just won some MAJOR points with my husband ;). Went outside at midnight and had him hold the flashlight. All it took was turning one doors “reset thing you showed”. Bing bang boom… Locked the entire car up like new lol. My husband is so impressed lol! Ty!
so erm... what do i do if my actuator adjustment does not have alignment marks? i checked all 3 doors i have this problem with and none of them, not even the driver's door has alignment markings on the adjustment screw 😅
This isn't adjustment, its manual locking knob for when electronic fails. Good if it fixes your problem and electronic lock starts working again, but with my passat it didnt help, i can just manually lock the door that way, and open it from inside manually, then if i want to lock it again i turn that knob again.
Just tried this on my A4 since my rear door wasn’t locking took me literally 30 seconds and all my doors are locking perfectly! I’m also hearing the chirp sound again when I lock the car. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!
I have a 2009 passat 2.0 diesel. Problem is all my doors lock but when I open them the drivers side (uk) doesn't open. It has the rubber capping but underneath it is solid. Help
