Before replacing your lock actuator for $$$, try this! If it does fail I did replace mine so below is info on how to do it. Actuator replacement info • 2010 - 2017 Audi A4 (...
Had the same issue on my wife's 07 Jetta. Same concept, worked great. God Bless You and thank you for taking ur time to post this video. God Bless You All.
Worked on my Seat Leon mk3, it was always intermittant, i even gave it to the garage for a week once and they couldn't find the fault. Was planning on stripping the door down today and replacing the actuator but lucky I found this. You sir are a legend!
DUDE!!!! I just replaced all 4 door lock modules on my 2009 Jetta Sportwagen. I got all the door lock modules from a junkyard, so there was a risk of all not working, but turned out to be only one that didn't work, the left rear door. I was so bummed after hours of work, but after watching your video, discovered I could manually lock that door!!! So excited! Thank you! (this saves me another trip to the junkyard!)
This worked on my 2017 VW Tiguan, which was locking the rear door, but not unlocking it with the remote. I was worried it would be a costly repair, but the door in this video looked just like my Tiguan, and when I twisted that thing, it started working again. Thank you!
Thank you, i had this problem today. I was very worried about leaving the car like this over night and about how much i should spend to fix it. You saved me, thank you again.
Yet another Thank You! My actuator failed in the rear passenger door and it was causing non-stop re-locking behavior every time I hit 10mph because the system knew not all the doors were locked. Locking the doors with fab or door controls did nothing to the rear door. Although the actuator isn't fixed I was looking for a temporary solution since I almost never use that door and this worked perfectly and saved me a few hundred $! The controls you demonstrated got the door to lock when it was closed the first time and the system registered all doors locked when I clicked the door control. As long as that door isn't opened again the problem has gone away. Now I know what to do next time the door is open and it has to be reset. Thanks!!
I have a 2010 Audi Q5 Quattro and one of the back doors wouldn’t unlock using the Key Fob. I pulled that cover off and compared it to the other back door and sure enough, they were in different positions. I turned it to match the other door and now it works perfectly fine! Thank you so much for your short and to the point video.
My man!!! I had this issue on my Bday, going to dinner with my family. Figured I have to visit the dealer, and dealer pricing right before Christmas. I tried this, and wouldn't ya know...success!!!!!!! Thank you!
Had same problem on my 09 Q5. I park on street and was worried with the rear door not locking and the click sound not chirping. This fixed it.Thank you for this video.
Hi mrmanitoba. Thank you so much. This worked on two doors on my 11 q5. It had stopped chirping when i locked it and two doors wouldn't lock. Your solution fixed the issue in under a minute. You are the man ✌️
A big thanx from me too! The rear lock on my 2009 A3 hadn't worked (the actuator worked but the door wouldn't release using the outside handle) for months and I was just about to go to the trouble and expense of pulling the door apart and replace the mechansim when I watched your video. Within 5 mins, it was working again!! Not quite as straight forward as turning the actuator though - I had to turn the actuator 90 degs clockwise and hold it there while firmly pulling on the door release lever on the inside of the door a few times. This seemed to reset something in the locking mechanism. I closed the door, locked it, then unlocked it and tried opening it from the outside with the handle and.... sucess!! :-) Thanx so much - now I don't have to waste my weekend working on my car!
This just happened to me and my 06 Cayenne S this morning on a very cold Nebraska day! Thank you for this video! FYI the Cayenne has a similar rubber cap, but it covers a release mechanism allow the lock to open.
I have a 2010 Q5. Passenger door stopped locking and no "chirp".. Tried this and it works fine now! Not sure for how long but for now its awesome! Thank you!
My 2016 Q3 has had this issue for gosh knows how long. It gives me a lot of anxiety sitting in parking lots as it wouldn’t lock on either front doors. Figured it would cost an arm and a leg. Well. Googled it up and I just won some MAJOR points with my husband ;). Went outside at midnight and had him hold the flashlight. All it took was turning one doors “reset thing you showed”. Bing bang boom… Locked the entire car up like new lol. My husband is so impressed lol! Ty!
Just tried this on my A4 since my rear door wasn’t locking took me literally 30 seconds and all my doors are locking perfectly! I’m also hearing the chirp sound again when I lock the car. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!
I have a 2009 passat 2.0 diesel. Problem is all my doors lock but when I open them the drivers side (uk) doesn't open. It has the rubber capping but underneath it is solid. Help
Great work and thanks for sharing. Worked brilliantly on my Audi Q5 2009 passenger side door - Lock open started intermittent then complete fail - Now fixed! I think these little adjustement dials just move out of place over time
For me, it was the driver's door that stopped to lock with the remote. Unlike the other 3 doors, there is no adjustable 'switch' underneath the grommet on the driver's door. What solved my problem with inserting the key to manually lock/unlock the car. After a few times, the chirp came back, even when using the remote.
Worked for me! 2017 A4, rear driver's side door. What you actually found is the emergency door lock mechanism. If you turn that screw to the outside, then shut the door, that will lock the door and prevent it from being opened from the outside until you open it from the inside. Looks like cycling the emergency lock relieves issues with the electronic door lock actuator, at least temporarily.
Thank you! I turned the white knob fully clockwise on my passenger front door which helped ACTIVATE my passenger rear door which was stuck locked after the actuator went out and child lock was ON. THANK YOU!
Very interesting adjustment feature you've revealed here. What I believe that adjuster does is adjust the setting/triggering of the small micro switch located in that area of the lock. The VW Polo locks can also be troublesome and central locking misfunctions. Quite often it is the micro switch failing to operate properly that causes issues with central locking. It seems on these later locks that an improvement of a micro switch adjuster has been added by the manufacturer.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I was getting ready for hours of headache, and i decided to watch one more video. thank God it was yours. it worked on my a4. I wish I can kiss you. xoxoxo
Thank you soooo much! This solved my problem. I have a 2006 Jetta turbo. Same exact issue with passenger rear door. I didn't have a knob to twist but I did pull off the little black plastic tab and shoved my flat head screw driver in there and it immediately engaged the lock. Now the door locks but doesn't unlock with my remote. I can still open it from the inside. My main concern was locking all doors. Thanks!
Definitely worked thank you so much. I’m still having trouble fixing the drivers side because the mechanism doesn’t have the same shape as the other doors
Holy $#!T this worked. Just bought a used Q5. A few days later I learned that the rear passenger door wasn’t locking. I spent $100 on a new actuator, took the whole door apart, then realized I needed a triple square bit for the last two screws. I was looking for some replacement screws since mine were already slightly stripped when I came across this video. Decided to give it a try…. Now I actually get a chirp when I lock the doors. Hopefully I still have time to return the actuator I bought.
I kept the latch that I purchased just in case. If I don't hear a chirp when I lock the doors, then I'll know to check it again. We'll see what happens. @@mrmanitoba
I have the same issue with my 2010 vw passat. Tried this and it works..now I need to find out what that adjustment is for future reference. Save me lots of time and money because I was planning to remove and replace the actuator..Thank You
Bro thank you so much for this tip, saved me a ton $$$ and worked, only thing is I have to twist the nob every time I need to lock it but I can live with that haha. Easy fix!! Appreciate the help once again 🙏
Love the video and I’m liking the comments, been holding off from not going to pay probably for an actuator when it’s as simple as this. I’ll come back and update my comment if this works lol.
I spent almost an hour looking at videos on RU-vid about people taking apart the door, skin and door card to disassemble the locks and window regs. I went out to my mk5 golf and tried this and the door is now locking perfectly. Thank you 👍👍
Just a follow up on this. It worked for me fine for a week but then went back to normal. But now, before I lock it I keep my front door open and click 'unlock' on the fob. Then closer the door click lock and all 5 doors lock everytime
My 08 S5 is having the same problem so I checked the door for the grommet with the lock on it.. I take the grommet off and I see a similar white knob/switch except mine doesn’t have a groove it’s just flat and I can’t turn it. Any ideas?
@@lonestar8968 i don't recall doing anything with the ignition, think the principal is the mechanism inside gets stuck in the unlock position and turning the knob loosens it up. Thinking how stuck it is inside affects the results. Going on a year now and still working.
