Thanks for leaving comments! I've just spent some time pondering over this idea of your suggested Blast build. It's doable I think but the damage from Blast itself isn't strong. It would take some specific vestige item builds to pull off effectively.
Ashes of the fallen is broken. It trigger on ALL on defeat effect. These include but not limited to the trinket that give you 35% chance to get gold on kill and 2 glyph on guardian kill; your binding upgrade, you will drop double money and 2 orbs; bounty stack gain double stat; and of course vestiges
Thanks for commenting and sharing this information! I didn't realize how good Ashes of the Fallen is until you've just explained it in detail. I'll keep this in mind going forth when I use bindings or vestige items that have an on-defeat effect to keep a lookout for Ashes of the Fallen.
man I died coz I didn't know the zombies would just attack the barricade, I panicked and blew the whole barricade up with my grenade launcher Then, I ran in a straight line into the zombie and I had like 1 health left, I turned around and shot another grenade, but a zombie when really fast and just made the grenade explode in my face, fucking hell I could have made it past if it wasn't for the grenade launcher, and this was my first run with the grenade launcher too T_T
Thanks for the comment! This game has this weird thing with elevation. Be careful with weapons like the grenade launcher when you're using it behind a barricade or on any kind elevation.
Thanks for the comment! I think I tried doing Obelisk with these kinds of builds some time ago and it was hard due to the Obelisk's bindings initially being physical. Maybe I can try again.
Nice job. I was wondering how you were going to be so tanky when you didn't have any defensive bindings at all, ha ha. Weaver is one aspect I haven't fully figured out yet. You seem to do an excellent job with it.
Thanks for leaving a comment! I think for this run I got good RNG and had four Bottled Whirlwinds, Warden 8, Thaumaturge 4 and Haunted 4. Blur most likely reduced lots of damage when I'm getting hit from multiple sources.
Thanks for taking the time to comment! I don't know what Shiny Shoe is planning. I wish I knew what they're planning next. Hopefully, they'll share something soon.
Hah, earlier today I managed to get some burn damage + 50 shield/turn. shield on the pull, +5 shield on the shield. Some CDR. And the "double shield" thing. Really learned to hunt that shield on pull early on.
Thanks for commenting! That shielding augment is nice. Low cooldown, nice amount of shielding. I haven't tried going with a build that generates tons of shielding. I remember that one run with Obelisk where I was unintentionally tanky but I couldn't kill anything fast 🤣
Nice job. I think that with this one, you only get the common vaults. Chainbreaker is my favorite aspect--it's fun just punching stuff. I don't end up using the fist too often either. By the end, I usually have far better stuff to use.
Thanks for the comment! I reread the modifiers for this challenge and the way I interpret it is that all vaults only offer common vestiges. Maybe it needs to be reworded to state only common vaults will appear.
@@TheAlmondButter Yep, I agree with you on the wording for sure because I was thought the same thing when I first did it as well. I think a few of the challenges suffer from poor wording.
Nice job with that one. I wasn't fond of this challenge--I thought all the other challenges were far more interesting. I kind of thought this was a lazy authored challenge. No combat preview is just more annoying than anything--especially in this game where there are so many different combat multipliers to keep track of. The rest of it just felt like a 'rank 20 lite' run, which would have been better if it didn't require you to already be rank 20 to complete (like it would have been a nice 'preview' of rank 20 if you weren't already there). I was also confused about the 'no free healing' thing. Think that's a bug?
Thanks for the comment and agreed! This was a rank 20 run but slightly easier. It's a bit bugged I think. The modifier clearly reads "Guardians don't grant free healing" but I still got healing.
The shield on the pull and stitch are not once per turn. I remember a run I could pull like 5-6 times per turn and had basically 0 damage. I basically tanked everything and it took forever to win. But I did win. edit: You probably meant "I use it once every turn",
Thanks for leaving a comment! My apologies if I incorrectly worded this in anyway. The augment for Constrict which gives shields can be used more than once per turn.
Another fun run. I like some of the smite builds, but I'm not really a big fan of the invocation binding itself. It feels like it costs too much for what it does, though you certainly made it work well in this run. Maybe I'll have to mess around with it a bit more.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I agree with how you feel about Invocation. I think it requires more investment to get to a point where it's strong compared to some other drafted bindings.
yeh what you said. I uploaded one the other day using invocation/smite (it was a loss) but honestly even the loss was a better run than a few I had done trying to get good clips lmao. So i just used that run anyway
I was waiting for this one, very nice job ! You're lucky you didn't got the rocks with big AOE dmg at the hard battle before final boss, they demolish you if you can't OS them haha
Thanks for leaving a comment! I typically avoid going to Ruhnstone because of those rocks. I've had dives lost because I didn't have a way to negate that damage somehow.
Thanks for the comment! I agree, it was confusing but definitely fun. Having two copies of a base binding for certain aspects opens up so many possibilities. After playing this challenge, I hope the developers somehow implement this outside of authored challenges. An idea I just thought of would be a drafted binding that copies a chosen binding. I might post that somewhere in the Steam forum or in the Inkbound Discord because I would love to see this.
I struggled with this one a bit. I tried to go with will collector/orb lord mosscloak but just couldn't do enough damage on the bosses, even though I would get pretty far. I ended up winning using blaze of Brigid Magma Miner build (thanks due to some brainstorming help from RisingDusk).
@@TheAlmondButter Honestly can't remember exactly how I did it, but it involved overflowing eruption making the runic strike free and something else that just let me hit runic strike over and over infinitely. Wish I could remember! Will collector was definitely part of it, and Shaheen's Shadow very well could have been involved.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree it's underwhelming. It's not a top tier binding but it's workable if that's what RNG hands you. I'm hoping for a small buff in the future.
Nice job. I agree Cynder was the easiest boss for this. I went with clairvoyant since she can be wherever and send her orb out and about. That ended up working out pretty well.
Thanks! I thought about doing the challenge with Clairvoyant but I'm not familiar with the aspect. Thanks for sharing your tip! I'll keep this in mind.
I’m happy you actually went with the unbound key this time haha. I think like you said in the video, if you feel yourself op before end of book 1, you should take it, it’s enjoyable to see you struggle a bit or completely destroy the unbound boss and last boss ;) or you can take the key anyway and just skip the unbound boss if you don’t feel you can beat it. Can’t wait to see more challenges !
Thanks for commenting and giving feedback! I feel like preparing for The Unbound forces me to build my dive in a certain way. I also have to hope I can defeat the Guardian of the Unbound Key. This fight can be difficult sometimes depending on how my build is at the moment I reach them. Sometimes I think the builds I like to experiment with and try won't work against The Unbound. This is why I usually just stick to not going after The Unbound. I'll consider visiting The Unbound more often going forward. I'm considering maybe using videos of me at least getting past the third boss and failing at The Unbound and turning that into content. Let me know what you think and feel about this.
You make it look so easy!!! Thanks for explaining more of your thoughts. Super helpful. My buddies and I are grinding, trying to get up to Challenge 20, each of us is stuck in different places. I'm sharing this video around.
Go watch his vid on the pilfer chalice build. I have never felt more powerful in this game than with that build. I was annihilating any and everything.
Lovely content man. Really appreciate it. Liked and subscribed :) Hey, I just posted the same suggestion on most recent video... but could you give slightly more explanations as to WHY you're choosing things and what impact they're having on the fights? Like 1:29 in this video you were looking at three choices and said "doing this often could be good but I'll go with this". Could you help us out in these videos by explaining why the one option is normally good but why you went with the other option? And maybe even why the 3rd choice on that screen wasn't even a consideration for you? Compare that to 1:17 when you explained that you took ink flat because it has a positive interaction with your cabinet choice... that was helpful (although for some of us newer viewers that don't know what mitosis is, it would still be even more helpful if you'd point out in combat how mitosis is helping you and what it's doing. Just in general: the times when you're telling us what you're doing are a little less helpful than the times when you're explaining WHY you're doing something and then showing us how it's actually showing up in your combats. Same general content at 2:40... you were re-rolling vestiges trying to get something great, you couldn't get the specific thing that you were looking for but you settled on shields after one reroll... your commentary there was "Shields? Okay." But why did you decide shields was a good value to take vs. the first 3 options pre-reroll or the other 2 options after re-roll? Anyway, this sounds like I'm griping and I'm sorry. You're amazing and the videos are amazing and my comment is way too long. I'm just trying to say that if you could explain more about the "why" as you play the game then it would give you more to talk about (filling some dead air) and make them a lot more helpful to those watching.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to comment and give me feedback. No need for apologies, I'm thankful for the good feedback you're providing and knowing people actually watch my videos. I can admit others have asked me to explain more and I think I'm making an effort. You're correct that I do spend lots of time stating what I'm doing and it's not helpful to you. It's a way for me to say something in the video at least instead of staying silent. I guess I need to try a different approach perhaps. I'm noticing that people who comment are watching me to understand and get better themselves at this game, I think. I'll definitely take your suggestions and try to change how I comment. No promises on this happening immediately but I'll try 😀 This video and dive is older so I might not remember the run too well but let me try my best to answer your questions regarding the run: 1:29 - Quickened Seismic Slam decreases the cooldown allowing me to use it every turn if I carefully manage when I grab orbs each turn. Like I said during the beginning of the run, I didn't have a particular build in mind. Since I'm doing a ranked dive, my priorities and playstyle would be to survive by reducing and taking less damage. The hopes of getting Broad Ironclap is to possibly get another augment (Shielding Ironclap) that grants 1 additional shield on hitting more than 3 or more enemies. Quickened Seismic Slam can be useful if I'm aiming to build around the Seismic Slam ascension, Earthquake. This ascension grants +50 damage every time it's used. Lower cooldown means more use of Earthquake. 2:40 - The reason for rerolling and deciding between Misting Bells, Outlawed Works and Braced Belt is to conserve some kwill for other uses. I try to keep some kwill handy to reroll other vaults to at least pick a favorable vestige item. I'd like to avoid situations where I end up taking something out of a vault and not getting come value from the vestige item I walk away with. For ranked dives, there's value in getting Bastion, which grants shield every turn. It does help you soak damage because you will get hit or lose HP in some other manners. I also see it as a way of allowing you to at least use the Shadow set without losing HP. If I decide to get the Shadow set and have at least 3 Bastion, I can have at least Shadow 4 (causes you to lose 3 HP at the end of your turn) without taking damage. I did do that this dive with the Shadow set. As for why I chose Misting Bells over the other two: Outlawed Works is geared towards magic damage, which doesn't help the Obelisk much. Plus, it has that -15 movement penalty, which is not desirable. This gives me less movement for positioning and makes it difficult for me to avoid AoE damage. Braced Belt only grants 5 shield on the first turn. There's not many situations where I find that useful compared to Misting Bells, which grants 1 shield on picking up an orb. I'd rather have the 1 shield on orb pickup the entire fight than just additional shield during my first turn. If there's anything else you want clarification on, please do leave a comment.
Thank you so much for making this content. I'm enjoying this game but it's definitely a LOT to take in... statuses, interactions, enemy mechanics, etc. And the UI isn't amazing. Your videos have helped me make sense of it all. I really appreciate the time you take to create/edit/publish. There are so many nice touches in these videos as well, thank you for cutting out some of the dry content of walking and pre-fight... keeps the video moving. If you don't mind one suggestion: I really appreciate that you make it clear when you don't see a set of augments you like, or when you see a vestige that's going to work well with your build. So I can hear your thought process when you're picking things. It would be really nice if you could do some callbacks during the combats to help drive these points home and educate us... like, "So, remember I put that augment through the grinder? that means I lost [whatever ability went away) but now you can see my omni damage is up another 20 points... and when that is multiplied by velocity then it is adding a bunch of damage to this attack." Or whatever. Just help us understand more of the impact of your prior choices during the fights. Connect those last dots for us. It would also give you something more to talk about during the fights that would be useful content in what can be a fairly repetitive set of motions you take during the fights themselves. I do frequent 10-second rewinds to watch what you're doing and try to understand why it's working so well and it would be great if you could just tell me a little more as you play =P Love the vibe, love the content, thanks much.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and giving me feedback. I've read both of your comments, please go see my reply in the other comment 😀
Thanks for asking this question. If you're referring to the Poxy Feather in the Carver's Refuge before The Rhinferno fight: It was to save Kwill to reroll the two vaults before the third boss fight. If I bought the Poxy Feather, I wouldn't have enough to reroll. I get the benefit of triggering toxic from Poisonblood but I felt like I was dealing enough non-DoT damage to kill enemies at that point. Let me know if this is not what you were referring to.
I usually don't try to. The dive is longer and I have to build in a certain way to reach and defeat the Unbound. Do you think it's worth going after the Unbound every dive?
I know it's been two years, but are you still interested in finishing this game? I couldn't find a fourth episode, so I assume you stopped. I really like it. I think it only gets better in the last two or three areas. The post-game is also great. I still haven't beaten it. A new game plus of sorts.
I stopped playing it. Sometimes I do lose interest in a video game I start a playthrough for. I could pick it back up but I wouldn't remember what I would need to do to continue the story.
@@TheAlmondButter i honestly never go past 3... maybe 5, but its one of those things that with just two visages you can re-use your best cooldown every turn
