Where are those tops/grand union locations? I've been to Warrensberg which was grand union family market, then tops, then sold back to whoever has the grand union name now since tops was bought by price chopper/market 32, and they already have a store there down the road
This is some excellent footage! Sad to see it go. I have recently been doing Stop&Shop tours both closing/non-closing stores mixed on my RU-vid channel. Feel free to check them out.
One major bad decision that Lidl made, was that they announced their expansion into the United States several years in advance. That gave Aldi time to build new stores and remodel old ones.
@chm9935 , well the company I interviewed at "decided to go a different direction, " which probably meant "hire someone younger, " as I'm 46 years old. I'm still sending out resumes, and I have a friend who knows someone at one place I applied to. He told me to show up there on Monday and ask for her, as he trained her years ago. In the meantime, I have 3 more coloring books coming out next week, so there's that. Thanks for your concern.
@@Sleeve_Did_It It could mean that or business is shaky and they dont wanna risk it. I used to live in the south nj area. Odd man Out news did a vid on companies now shunning most young workers BecauseR@!nb0w. Yeah, its betterbachelors other channel. Im on the hunt myself.
All good my guy!!! Thanks for the shout out!!! Lidl keeps expanding but I have also seen locations only open for a year go under. I think the brand has the same difficulties that Aldi had years ago in getting Americans to adopt the brand.
The last building was my go to place as a kid. A lot of the outside structures are still there. As you walked in to the right 3 isles in was the absolute best Rc car display in a glass case. I remember getting a few tyco cars from there. After they shut down discount Harry’s in Pennsauken was the toy store of the area
@chm9935 I feel for you. Had yet another interview yesterday. I'm hoping to return to the workforce soon. Just keep pressing on. Tough times don't last. Tough people do.
Hey Sleeve! I love your videos, bro! I actually grew up, not too far from there, on the eastern side of Toms River closer to the bridges, back in the 90s. I only went to that Foodtown a few times, but I think after Circus, the franchise became Mayfair and then eventually Norkus. When that franchise shut down, they closed this one, the one in Freehold, and the one in Bayville. The Kohl’s that is next to it is the former Toms River Caldor, which I used to go to all the time as a kid. There is actually a video of this Foodtown from when it was open from Ocean County as part of their tourism initiative back in the late 80s early 90s. If you want, I’ll see if I can find it and send it to you through a comment. keep up the awesome work!
@@Sleeve_Did_It OK I’ll see if I can dig it up tomorrow when I wake up. I’ll try to make sure I put the timestamp for the correct footage. It’s a fascinating video as a whole. you’ll be interested to see that there’s also footage of the Ocean County Mall as it existed during that time as well.
@@Sleeve_Did_It just a heads up. I don’t know if you’re gonna get the link for the video because I’ve tried putting it up like three times as a reply and it just keeps disappearing, although you might be able to access it. If you can't, just let me know and I’ll find a way to get it to you
I know that bank well. I would go there with my mother growing up and later banked there myself. I hope they save the building and make it into something else.
@AlecSilvaWX , no I'm not a bus driver. I volunteer on a bus route for my church. I sometimes pick up candy or other treats to give to the kids who ride my bus to and from church.
Got your back Sleeve! Just ordered 1 of each. My wife watches kids and these will be perfect! Keep plowing forward! And live by my motto, "Never Give Up, Never Give Up, NEVER give up!"
JUST PURCHASED Vol 1 & 2! Sleeve, You are a very good person and that truly comes through on the videos you have put out for YT. Thanks again for doing the Lionel Kiddie City video and thanks for always having fun with the jokes in the comments and shout outs. It’s always meant as a Jersey guy busting stones with a Jersey guy!😂 Things are going to get better and you will look back on days like today and be happy that there are people that not only like your content, but like you as a person and jobs will come and go through life! 🎉🎉🎉
I just seen ur video of the old penn queen diner, that used to be my go to place to eat with my family. Now we go to Pandora diner in cinnamisson nj. Cherry Hill diner is also abandoned
I used to go to this McDonald’s every Thursday leaving HS. WIPs Jody Mac and Craig carton would do a live show there. I knew a lot of people who owned or worked around that area. Getting rid of the Berlin circle they said ruined their business
I've been to this one!!!! The left door was enter only, center-right was exit only, & the far right was customer pickup... Surprised they replaced one logo but not the other but love it!! Fun fact: this is the closest location to the former HQ on Geoffrey way.
Cool to see the yellow, red and blue paint on the walls! I can’t stand that “newer” TrU logo. Also, that’s when they started making Geoffrey look like a character from Madagascar. All those old characters got totally ruined by marketing “refreshes”…
The shake weight cam at the register was good! Looked like you were getting electrocuted. 30% off is still a higher price than most places. Why were all these hundreds of stores not able to have competitive prices?
