I have a truck and I like to do truck things with my truck and share it with other truck people who do truck things with their trucks, that is pretty much it!
I see the tires on your truck are Cooper Discoverer tires. I just installed 265 /70 /R16 COOPER DISCOVERER ATP II on my 2023 Toyota Tacoma and it rides so nicely I wish I had put them on earlier on, but I can't complain too much because it only has 7,300 miles.
I have SR 2.7 for 7 years and 110,000 miles still going strong. I did have an EGR valve on the smog controls that went bad a $1000 dollar repair other than that has been an excellent truck. Bought it new and still almost as clean as it was when I purchased it. I plan on continuing driving it. I cannot afford the newer high prices, and give some time on the new Mexican built 2.4. It will need to prove itself.
The 2015 TRD OFF ROAD is the perfected model of the generation two Tacoma. It has the good 4.0 V6 and all of the issues that existed had been resolved by 2015.
I didn’t buy my tundra because I was concerned with gas savings, I bought it because it’s a beast. If I was concerned about gas savings a would have bought a Fucking Prius 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice review with a couple of comments and first a question. Does it have a rain fly and have you used it in the rain? Did you use seam sealer? Did the seams leak? I also have a Taco loaded with gear in the back. I don't sweat that much, I just drag it out and set it on a tarp under the tailgate. Also, I disagree on the straps. First when you take the tent down, try cinching up all the straps so the hooks are up against the tent. They won't catch on as much stuff when you're pitching it and won't swing around at all. Also, I tighten my straps up. It is my thought that yes, they will rub the paint - if they're loose and able to move with the wind. If they're tight they can't move and so can't rub. I guess time will tell which approach is right or if it even matters at all. Happy trails.
I just bought a 2017 TRD Off Road with 285s with just a leveling kit from my local Toyota dealership. Went exploring up a mountain today and tried to crunch a fender and couldn't!
