Hello! I hear the Andropogon Blackhawks reseeds itself readily. How far does it spread throughout the garden or is it fairly simple to maintain by just pulling a few self seeded seedlings once a year?
Why can't they make a hosta that doesn't bloom? We don't grow them for the blooms. They also need to make Heucheras that don't bloom. I just cut them off anyway. I like a nice tidy look.
Hi Walter’s Gardens team! 👋🏼 Is the Oktoberfest Miscanthus still being produced? I live in zone 7B in northern Delaware in the mid Atlantic region and am having a really hard time locating this in any of my local nurseries. I bought 2 last year but need just 2 more to complete my patio bed. Please help.
I just found the dark purple Ultraviolet and I can't wait to see it bloom. I already have the Backlight and Opalescence and love them in my garden. I have never seen phlox that performs and stays green without any issues that traditional phlox has. I will be moving and I am taking only these three phlox to my new property. I won't buy another other type. Keep the colours coming. I would like to see a lighter purple/mauve in the series.
I have the species version baptista australis; all the cultivars were not around when I got it. I used to not care too much about it. "The bloom time is too short! " I love the flowers but now I love other things about it too. In time, I started to focus more on foliage. I really do love the foliage-the shape/form of the leaves; and they turn more of a blue-green color as the season progresses. (Well mine does) I also like its big mounded form that is like a shrub. It's a really dependable, easy plant that performs well in my crappy clay soil.
Hello! We have found that deer usually don't go towards Aruncus to snack on in the garden. We label them as Deer resistant because of this! For more information please check out our website on this genus and many others we have that are deer resistant. www.waltersgardens.com/search.php?Tab=&key=aruncus Hope this helps!
It depends on how hungry the deer is😂 My dwarf goatsbeard was a feast for a lady passing through. We put a chicken wire cloche on it and it rebounded beautifully lush and dense with bloom!
Thank you for the feedback! We're glad to hear that these videos are helpful and plan on doing more. If there is ever a genus you'd like to know more about don't be afraid to leave a comment and let us know what you'd like to see next.
Didn’t realize so many types! I do want one. I’ve started getting into astilbes. I have a lavender and now a couple of dark side of the moon! I had laughed when I heard it was called like “goats beard.” Very informative
I bought three of these at home depot! They didn't do well for me! Zone 4, morning sun, afternoon shade! They came up this year but they are very small! They were very big beautiful plants when I bought them! Very disappointed!
