Are they considering putting wild horses back onto the tall Grass prairie they said they're trying to get it back to the way it's supposed to be and there was definitely more than just buffalo in the prairie with so many wild horses and mustangs being rounded up and shipped off her slaughter maybe they could put some back on there to help out
This is in NW Oklahoma, Ellis County to be more specific. The Canadian River runs through the Four Canyon Preserve in an "S" curve from Hiway 283 on the west side to Hiway 34 on the east side. Nearest town is Camargo. Other towns in the area are Leedy and Roll. The river can be traced back through the Texas panhandle and the northeastern Section of New Mexico to its beginning in southern Colorado near the lower slopes of Purgatoire Peak in the Sangre de Christo Range. Large lakes it runs through are Conchas and Ute (near Logan) in New Mexico, and Meredith in Texas.
Out of this world watching the water come down the river bed and soaking into the ground. How deep will the river be when it full? thanks for an outstanding video. (we need more restoration of nature like this in this country). (Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA).
How beautiful. Love that bubbling sand. And the sand is so clean! A long time ago I took a nap in the dry wash of the Cinnamon river. Brings back some nice memories. Where on the Canadian did you film this?
This is a unique and special preserve in a too often overlooked part of Oklahoma. It is stark. It is beautiful. I am grateful TNC was able to protect it. If we can add a few thousand acres more as other neighboring ranches are willing to sell their lands, there will be enough habitat to bring bison and elk back to the property. It already is home to bob cats, coyotes, mule deer, and offers a corridor to at least one mountain lion passing through. If you get a chance to take a hike at this preserve, jump on it. It is gorgeous!
Great video. I was at the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve last week. I went out to the herd and got within 400 feet and then the leader noticed me and signaled the herd to run another 200 feet farther away from me. Very exciting to watch over 150 bison all running at once. Great place.
Great trip around Oklahoma with an amazing organization and wonderful people. Thank you, Nature Conservancy, for preserving these last great places in our state.
Thanks for illustrating the "no-till drilling" method of sowing prairie seed. Farming terminology leaves most of us modern-day folks confused. "Patience" with natural processes is another concept us moderns have lost track of. Good job!
Great video. I was fortunate to be there to watch part of the roundup. All you miss with the video rather than being there is feeling the thundering hooves shake the ground...and the smell! Funny sub-titles. What is up with the one bison on the other side of the fence during the second run at the camera? Has he gone rogue?!?
