This is the most heartfelt ,raw, and beautiful cover in honor of an artist i have ever heard.Well done Amanda. It took me a few months to have the courage to listen to it. It was worth the wait. ❤️ sending love
I don’t want to be reductive, and this is a very complex question. Buu I have a theory that may explain why most Westerners conceive of artists as mad, suffering, or otherwise misfits. In my reading, it began with the Romantics. Because of printing technology and rising literacy, poets, for instance, did not depend entirely upon patronage. Before the 19th century, poetry was produced and evaluated based upon fairly strict rules. The Romantics, who had greater freedom and less financial stability, led lives of greater personal vision. And that was viewed by the critics of taste as a kind of insanity. Thus, a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy.
Got to see you in Denver with Bryan and it was dream-come-true status experience. Thank you for continuing to create and expand your art, it really reaches people like myself.
Really gorgeous - Saw Luke a couple of weeks ago in Bath England and completely derailed the afternoon shopping by watching his performance between the rain showers for close to an hour. Would love to see this duet. Having seen Awaken with Amanda, I also checked out her amazing material. A meeting of two very talented individuals♥
Piano in Aotearoa near water with no words. Just needs Holly Hunter and Anna Paquin. But seriously, these are 4 hands, 20 fingers with one mind and one beating heart. Sublime. Art will always be the quietest champion and the most persistent fighter.
I love you so much Amanda. I’ve been going through such a rough patch recently and I’ve recently just had moments where I’ve listened to any and all of your music and sobbed. Thank you for everything. Thank you for this, thank you for the Dresden dolls, thank you for the grand theft orchestra, thank you for Evelyn Evelyn, and thank you, absolutely thank you, for your magical ukulele. ❤
