SURFACE PRESSURE - AMANDA PALMER (w JHEREK BISCHOFF & THE BLACK QUARTET) 

This recording started as a jokey suggestion on one of my patron-only webcasts and then evolved into a DARE. I took the dare. My son, Ash, who is six, is OBSESSED with Encanto and I'd already heard the soundtrack 357 times. The first time I saw Luisa sing this in the film, I cracked inside. I FELT VERY VALIDATED, especially after being a solo parent for a year in a foreign country because of Covid. The recording was made over the course of one VERY LONG day (Feb 22nd, 2022, at Roundhead Studios in Aoteraoa New Zealand), and every second of the process was streamed live to my 12,000 patrons who acted as virtual sounding boards and cheerleaders for me, the studio crew, the Black Quartet, and the arranger/conductor Jherek Bischoff who beamed in from Los Angeles for the whole thing (in a Tuxedo, with a candelabra, in the living room).
This song file will be emailed to patrons and will stream for FREE on all NormCore music platforms, but please be aware: this is basically a non-profit venture. All of the costs for this are covered by my patrons.
To be very clear: the way we are ABLE to create this kind of non-profit work at this level of professionalism is ONLY because of patronage, where thousands of people support one artist (me) to follow her random dreams...like, um, recording a fast and furious Disney cover with a high-end New Zealand string quartet in the fanciest recording studio in town on one week's notice. In no other world is this possible. Patronage makes the dream work.
