This one needs a comment, so here I am, Ta-da! I seen a danny smithy cobalt blue violet, Pb28/Pv19 so I ordered it. Can't find a good review of it, but the video swatches look pretty cool. I was thinking watered down it may look like a good sky color or shadows or grey mixes. Just surprised there's little info about it. Have a nice day! Missed hearing your voice on this one too!
o mg I love that serpentine genuine but it is so pricey. I learnt to get a similar hue by mixing sap green or pure pigment pg36 with a touch of opera pink. Use your holbeins. I learnt this from my floral course with artist Yuliya. She uses Shinhan, but I find similar by using my mission gold or holbeins. Give it a try?
I wonder if you might be able to share about Sketchbooks you enjoy using for water media. (p.s. not to peek into your art but more about your view on quality of paper) Your vids are very useful!
i actually do have a paper collection video film but haven't had time to edit it. it's also not a vid that i expect to do well so it's not on top of my list right now, thank you for the feedback though :)
wow… thank you for all you do to help us make decisions. I’m just the opposite… On a tight budget, I can only get a bit at a time so I need to be vvv decisive. Do you have links to online stores in Thailand ( with English communication) that I maybe able to find open stock, especially Mission Gold which I cant get in Malaysia. 🙏🏻
unfortunately i dont know which stores offer English communication. for mission gold, check out Cwart. just google Cwart Thailand and it should be the first link.
Ahh, another “Eye Candy” clip! Apologies in advance as I get all “Pigment Nerd,” I promise I don’t meant to sound preachy! Just a heads up to anyone concerned with lightfastness, a couple of these contain fugitive pgmts in them (per Kim Crick): *SHADOW VIOLET LT & PRZYBYSZ’S GREY.* (Oddly, Shadow Violet is fine…just the LT one that’s wonky.) 😢 Much as I love them, I wouldn’t want anyone who sells their work/is otherwise concerned to order w/o knowing; like so many lines, their LF ratings don’t reflect their reality. Thanks as always, Vee…your videos & shorts are always a pleasure!
btw, if you have Holbein pg7 veridian and Holbein QuinGold PO150+PO48… you can flexibly mix versions of the DS one. Adjust the holbein Quingold to get it more or less olivey And for the “too bright” sap greens, I mix it with a touch of opera and it muted down beautifully. Learned this from artist Yuliya’s floral course.
It actually says in chinese neon orange but they just don't know how to translate it correctly so it 's "passion" orange . 😅 pigment numbers are weird because a lot of non lightfast pigments , none of the pro brands would ever use.
Excellent Video! No I hadn't seen this brush prior to this video, but I fell for it the moment I saw the first red swirl. I think it would be perfect for highlighting thick curly hair due the variations and separations resulting from the twist. Thankfully it's not Rosemary & Co.'s more expensive brushes.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you for sharing your brushes and experience. Good informative videos are priceless. I paused and checked out the Rotary Tree brush and purchased both of them. 🫣 I thought about 🤔💭 “creating” them from and older brush…🙄gee I’m 73, retired not 23 working with kids 🤣. The new brushes will be here by July 11, amazing! I have a passion for brushes, especially tiny one and creative ones along with big Quils. Thank you for the trick on how to reuse the plastic brush cover without damaging the brush! I can’t wait to share your information with credit to you. I remember using that twisting thing on something else, but not on what I used it on. 🤔 This will help me safely carry my brushes with me. And if they slide out, there’s very little, if any, chance of damage. And I can pack them away without having to wait for them to dry until I get home. Thank you again. Just wanted to complement your beautiful English voice. I’ve grown up in the South and have a strong southern accent. 🤭🫣🫢 Enjoy this wonderful month, as I see it, as all things are growing here for Artists to paint and keep alive! Fran 😊
haha, i actually posted a vid demo of the rotary tree brush recently. seems like many people are interested as well. we all like swirly swirlies hahaha~ oooh, you're a quill lover too? yes! i'm currently working on two separate quill vids as we speak. hopefully one in a couple weeks and another next month :) thank you again for your kind words, i appreciate your positivity! -Vee
They look nice. But they are about the same price as the White Nights where I live, so I'm gonna stick with my WN for now. Their new paints also have better earth tones, so no point buying Rosa. Maybe some time in the future I'll give them a try.
lucky! i can't get white nights at all because thailand no longer imports things from russia and websites i buy art supply from also no longer stock white nights
@@PaintinHiding Wow, thats really stupid. Luckily so far we still have them here in Germany. Does Thailand also not import chinese products? Because last time I checked, China was also doing lots of bad stuff (forced labor, child labor, putting prisoners in labor camps, killing people who don't agree with the government, etc). But I guess they would have to invade Taiwan for other countries to boycott them, eh? Talk about double standards...
AN EXCELLENT EXPLANATION: Thank you so much for your easy-to-understand answer to a not-so-easy-scientific-reaction that occurs in watercolor, (and possibly other mediums 🤷🏻♀️) I finally understand the difference between granulation & flocculation. Thanks again. 🎉
I unwittingly made one with old brush used for gel medium that solidified. 😂. Clumps are splayed out and not in a neat calculated manner such as the purched one. I love using it.
Don't think I would ever buy one, but it looks like easy to DIY from an old worn out round brush. Just tap a small nail in the center to push the hairs out.
It's similar to cloth cotton. Hand made and not highly pressed like general cotton WC paper.. I love it and didn't expect it to behave like the other papers. They do make WC Khadi w/140 gsm. I'd love to have that Logbook but they seem to be a UK item. 😕 Thanks for the information
Also, Viridian. Veridian is used to recreate moon glow and many other separating granulating mixtures. I couldn't find your note so I put the message on this video. Looks like you know a lot about these super granulating pigments. I bought shiminka's py150 Aunt the red in volcano which is used in many of they're super granulating line. Cheers and enjoy painting!
