imo the real issue starts how fromsoft is sort of immune to any criticism cause you have so many soulsbourne diehards that defend bad gamedesign deciscions/systems etc. eldenring has some of that already creep in, dodge/sprint on the same button witrh dodge on release of the button is just straight up bad, the camera is about as bad as ever with no improvements, the game falls of a cliff in the second half with the areas being empty/bosses turining from "challanging but fair" into health spunges with sekiro esk movesets where instad of waiting for windows to attack them you simpy trade dmg, i could go on. my point is eldenring gets a pass for many of its glaring issues and then for example lords of the fallen which got massive backlash at launch but improved massively since is in many ways superior to eldenring, camera works far better, dodge/sprint/jump on sepereate buttons (yes fromsoft that is possible) and it has much higher replayability with the NG+ modifiers, boss rush mode and proper multiplayer etc.
You can tell there is a whole different development team that runs this game. Finally got a full days worth of play and so far so good. If this is the foundation, we in good hands. Great review Blu!
Free to play gets killed by cbeaters, if they have to buy the game again from getting permabanned they will not play the ge, and the game has a better chance of staying alive.
So glad you mentioned the bonus system, variants, and the persistent deployables. That is what makes Concord stand out, and adds alot of strategic depth.
I don't have any issues with adding more accessibility options, but I really don't want difficultly settings...I think it would actually ruin part of what makes these games special...I like that the difficultly is adjusted by using certain items/equipment/summons in the gameplay...I do really wish they would add a pause button when you aren't actively doing multiplayer stuff though! I hate having to go back to the main menu everytime I need to get up to do something...It made sense not having a pause in Dark Souls because of the way invasions and stuff worked, but you can't be invaded in elden ring unless you are already Co-op with someone...
i'm one of the people sitting outside the boss door even after i finish the boss myself helping people. i probably fought Malenia 100's of times at this point. been helping people with the hardest bosses in the dlc now. if you are on pc and see an imp waiting at the door that might be me :)
I like to help people in coop, especially fending off/killing invaders. As far as how you play the game? there are no rules and Miyazaki has spoken about how you use whatever you like to win the game and you can have selfimposed difficulty if you like, but there is no "right" way to play it.
When it comes to magic and bleed, magic has gotten many nerfs for balance, but fromsoft looks away in bleed. Its part of the bigger problem that the devs suck at game balance.
This kind of behaviour is very common once a piece of media and more specifically a video game, gain alot of popularity. I feel like most of the toxicity is just a vocal minority. Most people actually have normal conversations with other fans. The part on builds… its just a way to show they are better and sometimes, they are jealous someone had an easier time than them. good video 👍
Numbers here: 40% finished the game. Of that 40%, how many used a save game editor? How manyn cheesed a boss? The game is FUN..it always is WAY to hard. DLC sales numbers speak for themselves. However Fromsofteware is learning. Elden ring needs....a quest journal. Legacy Dungeons....SHOULDN'T respawn after u die or put more graces in them. There is too much rinse and repeat in the game. Lastly NO...this game isnt Skyrim or even in the same sentence.
@@Scottyl35 i didn’t even know there was something called a save editor? I also play on ps5 so are those numbers from steam? Also are people saying it’s Skyrim?
oh yea this game is nothing like skyrim lol. Only thing i can see is the.. Oh look over there when you are doing something. Skyrim at least guides you somewhere.
This is my opinion as a souls vet (feels weird to say that, I nvr use it xD) who get called elitist from time to time. (even though i'm really not) The souls community wasn't always this toxic, I started playing DS1 around 2012 and had to look things up and most ppl were very welcoming and ready to help. The whole git gud was tossed around as a joke back then, so i always end up using it at as an obvious joke, but still always willing to help by either telling what they did wrong or to switch weaps or builds. I encourage ppl to play the game how they want to, summon or bleed to your hearts content. But i hate how ppl brag about how easy Elden Ring is and how they don't understand how others struggle with the game, while they have beaten the whole game by; either being carried by others online or using mimic tear+dual bleed katanas and just bleeding every boss. I kinda blame Fromsoft for that cause they made almost every boss susceptible to bleed.
@@kuraikumo7456 def understand! I don’t see elitist from your opinion at all! You make great points ! Def get not liking the bragging when you played to a build that has advantages! Which is still why i like these games! You get to play how you want and make builds how you want
@@BluSatire I totally agree about making the builds you want, I like that most ppl will have different builds, from daggers to 2 colossal swords to bonk everything. My most fun playthrough was when i did a dagger/faith build, which was a lot stronger than i thought it'd be.
@@BluSatire I haven't tried faith in the dlc, maybe i should, there are so many new incantations. I just went in with my trusty lordsworn straightsword, beaten the base game with that simple sword. I've given up on the dlc for now, everything 2 shots me while having 1900ish hp and wearing the armor of the black mausoleum knight, and scadutree blessing at lvl14. Even elden beast 1shots me rn which is weird.
You coulda just kept going, this is a video speaking on a conversation. That has been going on for the longest. It doesn’t just exist on Twitter. People backseat game streamers content creators , comment on your videos about how they think you should play. This video is me asking people how they feel about it while having a discussion. Something my channel is about. But why do you care what i think? If you didn’t this comment wouldn’t be here
So Elden Ring... I bought the game when it came out, had the hardest time with the bosses, felt lost, and stop playing it. One of my friends has finished the game multiple times and told me to give it another try before the expansion. I pick it up again, and this time decided to go all out. I did one important thing that change the way i felt about the game completely, that was buying the guide. You see, i stop playing the game because i felt lost, but most importantly the game is so vast and gives you little to no pointers on what to do next, is up to you. I like completing everything, and doing things in order. The guide provided exactly that. I just finished the capital outskirts and im level 102 with a +8 weapon. I find the game alot more fun and now its my favorite game of all times. I just had to approach the game differently. Play the game however you want, as long as YOU are having fun, thats what matter. I use strong weapons, right now my +8 is the Blasphemous Blade, have a mimic maxed out, and follow my guide to the T. Thats how I enjoy the game.
@@J.L.SPerez i love that! I also am a person who doesn’t have a problem with guides at all. I use them when I’m stuck . Or I’ll look up something if i want to know more! Play how you want is always my motto
People enjoying the same product doesn’t make them a community to be honest. I can meet another Souls player and find myself in agreement with that person or just not care for them at all. The people who I interact with within the game or who I talk to while playing are my “Elden Ring community”. Someone on social media sharing an opinion about something I also have interest in doesn’t make us anything more than 2 strangers commenting on a shared interest 🤔🤷♂️
@@GetAwesomeGaming who said people sharing the same product is the only thing that makes them a community? I agree that the people who you interact with or talk to while playing are the community. People that put back into the game through lore and things, my problem is there are people who interact with you that have negative interactions that get mad at how you playing. Talking from a standpoint of a streamer , creator and viewer. And there is always ongoing discussion between mutuals and interaction so it does in fact make them a community
@@BluSatire if some random pops in on me playing and says "you shouldn't use that weapon use this instead" and just tries to back seat in anyway that person may also share my interest in Souls but they have no relevance to me beyond that. I don't view that individual as being part of the same grouping or community as I am because the whole concept of community implies a sense of unity that i feel no inclination to share with any particular person for the mere presence of a shared interest. In the end it's a fan base and any fan base is going to have it's negative individuals. I myself am not good but I don't summon. I fight a really hard boss i could conceivably put in 50 to 100 attempts before i down them. There are others who show up to watch who use summons and all available tools and we are completely cool with each other because my thought is "you paid your money it's your business how you decide to play your game" and there is a mutual respect built on that understanding. The point being is you can go anywhere and find negativity because a fan base isn't the same as a community imho. with all due respect of course
@@GetAwesomeGaming i def understand your point of view! I just do think there is an overall community , i also agree with you that there is a difference between the community you have for you with the people have unity with that is stronger vs the fan base. But that fanbase overall is still a part of the overall community that game. It’s more evident in games like ff14 online pokemon. Either way alll respect and i appreciate your point of view and opinion and appreciate you for the insight
@@BluSatire I would just say points of division aren't unique to Souls. Hell you cited Pokemon and I can tell you that is one of the most divisive fan bases you could cite. just simply look at the quality of recent titles and how people have supported really inexcusable products being sold for consumption. How people reacted when they finally said there would be no post launch national dex. Yeah Souls has it's hardliners but you have some version of that where ever you go. anyways just my 2 cents HAGD
i have a theory that the reason elitists are so high and mighty is because beating a hard game is the most impactful thing they have done in their lives thus far
3:10 It's not cheating to use summons or certain builds to beat the game. Getting help might be cheating, it depends on how detailed the info is. People giving you stuff you shouldn't have yet I do consider cheating. All that in my mind also only applies to first play through, after that do whatever. Not to say I don't find it disappointing when people are full bleed jump attack with curved swords and Tiche then melt the boss on their first go. Or they bought runes and leveled up to 600+ in their first game. Disappointing.
@@BluSatire From what I've watched, most of the time it wasn't their idea. They were told bleed is good, and where to get all the items to build it. It's not cheating but I don't have to like it.
@@AAAbatterye2 i get that but how does that affect you? I def get what you saying. For me i like katanas and i like dual wielding , if i can dual wield in a game im going to do it. All katanas proc bleed , but the way i play hell i be random i still probably don’t have the best “build” i just be picking stuff that look good. Would that still count in being disappointed ?
@@BluSatire If you went in blind, explored and pieced the items together by yourself and it just happens to be one of the best things in the game then good on you. If you watched videos on the best builds or had people tell you where to go, what to do, then I would find that disappointing. But again, only on first play through. You only get that experience once. After that actually cheat and make every attack do 99k damage for all I care.
This pause button topic. Nothing to do with difficulty, it's PvP. It doesn't make sense to ask for a pause button in an online multiplayer game like COD or Overwatch. Well FromSoft likes to blend single player & multiplayer in a cool way. People are saying "but Sekiro and AC6 have a pause button" - yea, Sekiro has no PvP, and in AC the single player & PvP are completely separated.
@@daviddruen858 i mean that’s my whole point tho. Some people do play offline . While it doesn’t bother me much. I feel like they could implement it the same with sekiro unless you get invaded , are in multiplayer or actively in a fight. I don’t think that’s a hard thing to do. But this is not a multiplayer game in the same vane of Overwatch and COD. Because you aren’t constantly engaging with someone else online outside of reading notes and seeing their ghost. I think that’s a bad comparison , but i do understand your point! I don’t think anything needs to be fixed at all outside of some frame rate issues that pc players are having and other small bugs . Other than that this was more of a in the future thing.
Obviously not the same kinda multiplayer.. it's a very interesting unique way of doing multiplayer. It kinda blends the single player into multi. I don't see any other games doing it like that. Pause button in single player games is like porn on the internet. 99.9% have it, you found one game that doesn't want it, and think they should conform. What about all the players who enjoy the Game of the Year just how it is? Is there a word like "accessibility" I can sprinkle into my arguments that makes anyone who disagrees with me seem like they hate paraplegics?
@@BluSatire also... you say "some" offline... na, it's like 95% of players play either offline, or online but not doing co-op or invasions lol. I mostly single-player, sometimes I co-op to help a noob (but really showing off my build, fashion, emotes, and getting $ for stones). Very rarely I invade to give away duplicate loot drops, I usually get destroyed. I think it's cool that very few FromSoft players do mostly PvP, yet From does balance patches for them. They care about the PvP aspect, even if it's not what sells the game. Because they do what they want, they have ideas, they don't just follow the money like a grace line.
@@daviddruen858 Well i dont think that about you at all. Now the pause button to porn analogy is wild lol. I enjoy the game how it is, but again i said i was saying a thing to think of in the future. I wouldnt want that implemented in Elden Ring. Just was saying its not the end of the world or the game if it was implemented.
@@daviddruen858 All of this to say you don't understand words like "conditional" (such as having a pause option based on the 'condition' of playing off line) and "empathy" (other people's experiences, though not my own, are valid). People like this creator and others, like challenge runners (Tulok and Mango, IronPineapple, Distortion) and Lore creators (Quelaag, Vaati, SmoughTown) are encouraging you to consider other people's perspectives outside of your own. Its your choice to take it as criticism. That's a YOU problem.
Stupid people will always talk down to you for not being as stupid as they are. I have people in my life talk down to me because i don't work 12 hours a day like they do. Yet i am more financially responsible than they are and thus don't have to work as hard as them. Never changing your build and just learning how to match your I frames to every single one of their attacks for 15+ minutes is not something a smart person does. A smart person learns and adapts to their situation and finds solutions within the resources available. I think doing a challenge run is fine but a challenge run is its own thing. To talk down to a casual about their first playthrough and essentially implying they need to do a challenge run for their first playthrough is obviously something a fool does. Not even worth acknowledging.
if you don’t have time to play the game, just don’t play it. stop wining about it, games shouldn’t have to cator to you because you have your own issues. and if you need to stop playing just fucking quit out the game like there’s legit solutions
@@crizpacito so you only watched one part of the video and commented i see. Especially since i did say i understand both sides of that, but again i just point out how, if folks are doing work arounds to pause a game, what does it really hurt to put one in it when you have done it before for a harder game. Just like the solutions you gave , there are other ones as well.
@@crizpacito i say that to say , i understand your point and im just speaking on why it’s not a farfetched idea. You def can do the things you said do. My main problem honestly is people being mad at how other people play the game. I do appreciate your opinions ✊🏾
first off, I'm Grown been gaming since the 90s. And you couldnt have watched the video. When you interact with others who play the game, when you build lore, share lore with others, play games with others, watch others content on streams, play game together, it absolutely constitutes a community. Everything is not a community , but games absolutely have a community and thats just a fact. now if you playing the game by yourself, no internet, not interacting with anyone, not asking devs for fixes, not interacting with devs not participating in events for the games, maybe you have a point. And you right. Nobody owes anybody anything. So why are people fixated on telling others how to play the game?
@@darmasa11 that doesn’t apply to me lol. You haven’t watch the video if that’s your response . I’ve beaten the game. I like the difficulty. It doesn’t bother me. Appreciate you though
@@BluSatire lol not you bud, just honestly to any gamer crying about any game difficulty, I used to bitch about contra as child (still do) and my uncle told me the greatest advice pre fromsoft era: get good, stop crying, they already took your money, get good.
@@darmasa11 my main problem is the folks mad at how people choose to play the game. saying a win doesnt count cause you didnt play the way i did. thas my big thing
@@shadowofthehitokiri5787 what you said makes sense but that first quote is false when there is a whole company thriving make games anyone can get into. You don’t have to be target audience because every game is not for everyone. But some options would not hurt the integrity or purpose of the game is all I’m saying. Me personally i have no problem with it. I thought this series wasn’t for me but then i played it and i love it.
@BluSatire if you implement features to make the game appeal to a wider audience all u r really doing is isolating your core fanbase to trying to appease people that didn't like your product from the beginning. It's the equivalent of abandoning your friends to try and impress people who never liked your. In contrast to that you could just make the best product you can make, have your core fanbase love it, n have the people who don't like your vision at the very least have to respect it. Or make a product that your fanbase doesn't like n everyone say your game is lukewarm because of lack of vision or not taking enough risks, kinda like ubisoft games.
@@xlegacyzero8878 Got you and i agree with you on that. That 2nd to last part of what you said is what I believe would be best. I appreciate you for the further insight and opinion. the ubisoft example is spot on as well. I only hope that this star wars game changes that somehow.
