So glad they beat Memphis with an ineligible player they KNEW about, but put him in the game anyway. Rose was practically an illiterate that never should have been allowed in college ever.
One of the last great games I watched in full, live. Back right before I flunked out of college and ruined my life for good. Maybe I shouldn't have watched and studied instead. But, hey, everything happens for a reason. I still think the 90's - 00's ..... when I was growing up..... was the golden age of KU basketball. Sure, KU had lots of success in the 10's .... and obviously their latest champ in '22 ... but basketball is WAY different now than it was when I was growing up. Can't turn the clock back. Not in basketball, not in life. Story of my life.
KU vs #1 OU in 1988 in the NCAA Title. #1 (One Poll) KU vs. OU (#1 In Another) 2016. The original BIG 8 member OKLAHOMA. Good luck in the SEC, we need to keep scheduling.
Was stunned in first half of this game how much quicker Kansas was RIP Packer you might not like him but he knew what he was talking about... Not stunned that Self>>>Roy...
I was on Mass street as a 22 year old when we won in 2022. I was 8 when this game happened. These guys are legends to me. I can name this roster from memory. I love the 08 Kansas team more than any team ever in any sport, even the 15 Royals or 19/22 Chiefs
I hear you. Even though I love my Royals and my Chiefs, the Jayhawks are always No. 1 in my heart even over the Chiefs and Royals. It was before you were born, but the 1996-1997 Jayhawks team is the only one that might rival the 2008 Jayhawks. The 1997 KU team was LOADED like the 2008 team. The 1997 team was ranked No. 1 in both polls from start to finish except for one week. Heading into the Sweet 16 versus Arizona, KU was 34-1 with the only loss being by 2 points in double OT on the road against a very good Missouri team. They got upset by Arizona by 3 points. But Jerod Haase, KU’s best defensive player tried to play with a broken wrist but lasted 2 minutes. Star point guard Jacque Vaughn played the whole game at way below 💯 because he had the flu. If those two were at 💯 KU likely gets by Arizona and wins the Natty. 4 seed Arizona went on to win it all by beating No. 1 Kansas, No. 1 North Carolina, and No. 1 Kentucky. But many people had said the 1997 Kansas team was the best team in college basketball over the previous 20 years!! The 2008 team though gets the nod because they actually won the Natty and were probably nearly equally loaded as the 1997 team. The 1997 team also featured future NBA HOFer Paul Pierce as a sophomore and First Team All-American Raef LaFrentz.
@@lewdiggz Yeah, the 1997 team was incredibly good. If it were possible, it’d be great to see the fully healthy 1997 Jayhawks play the fully healthy 2008 Jayhawks. That would be an epic matchup.
Howcome the National Championship Game isn't this good of quality? Anyone know where I can find the full replay of the Ku Memphis game in this quality?
Love Phog Allen Fieldhouse and Mackey Arena too. Both are just so loud and raucous n rowdy. N I absolutely love it. Oh n Viejas Arena too at San Diego State.
Arthur/Aldrich/Kaun/Jackson? ^^^ hard find a team with such Solid Frontcourt depth. This Kansas team beat that great #1Florida team in Las Vegas Nov 2006. That Fla team fr 2006-08 had tremendous Frontcourt depth. People need remember in ranking this 2007-08 Kansas Jayhawks team in terms alltime best NCAA Basketball teams? They went 37-3 & beat the 06/07 b2b Champs #1Florida yr b4 with same team and beat the 2009 National Champions North Carolina Tarheels by 18pts in the 08 Final Four.
This had be ABSOLUTELY stressful for Self going into this game. As #1seed vs #8seed. Haven't yet made a FF. 2 Elite8s in 4 NCAA Tournaments with KU but 2 big 1stRd losses to double-digit seeds for Bil Self going into 2ndRd vs #8seed UNLV of the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
2007-08 Kansas Jayhawks Fball + Basketball combined record? 49-4. To this DAY the best "combined rec of basketball & fball in same season" in NCAA history. - 2008 BCS Orange Bowl Champs. - 2008 NCAA Basketball National Champions.
(37-3) 2007-08 Kansas Jayhawks. This is an OUTSTANDING "overlooked in terms all-time great College Basketball teams" imo. I'd have this team #12 alltime GOAT College Basketball teams.
Was living in Pensacola Fla during this Tournament in 08. Remember having stream this game on my Desktop computer in March 08. Never seen this game since +14yrs ago. Thanx! #RCJH22champs!
this was so important for the jayhawks. Roy williams did everything he could (except win the national championship) when he was at kansas. He had to leave to coach for his alma mater and you cant blame him for that. But just to move past that roy chapter kansas had to win this game and win that championship in 2008.
Basically this same KU team came close season b4. Lost in the Elite8 to UCLA. Then Basically this same UNC team came right back and won it all the next season after this loss. Bottomline? These were 2 TREMENDOUS basketball teams who were well coached.
THESE are best type Bill Self Kansas teams. TOUGH, deep Frontcourt teams with solid backcourt. (Collins as 6th man? Great team.) What's crazy is KU's 2009-10 team is still Self's best Jayhawks team imo. (With the Morris Twins.) Upset by a lil white dude fr No Iowa.
I'm a +30yr KU fan. This 2007-08 UNC Tarheels team? The BEST TEAM IN COUNTRY that season. (Arguably tp10 team of 21stCentury.) I'm not gonna lie. UNC prob beats us 7 out 10gms played. KU just played the best game I've ever seen in a single game. Lol. In a game that was basically "3gms in one."
I was SOOO pissed at Packer when we got up 28. "Its over!" I mean he was right and at worse I thought maybe Packer jinxed KU where UNC would eventually cut it to 9-13pts under 10mins in 2ndHalf. (Even that was far fetched.) But sure the fuck enough! UNC made it a 2poss game with like 10mins left 2ndHalf. KU's ability to pick themselves up and finish strong says alot. Also Bill Self had play huge role in that too. Any team can get hot and blow out a team. But to remain calm in this type setting? After UNC completely took momentum back? Best KU game I've ever seen
I think how KU was able the puck themselves up after blowing a 28pt lead and still win big was so impressive. I mean UNC cut a basically 30pt KU lead to 4 with like 10mins left 2ndHalf. 99.9% of teams in country would've folded at that point and lost to UNC by 10-15pts after blowing that lead.
