Why do you only ever call him "the Voodoo Man" and never "Dr. Facilier"? I get doing it occasionally for some variety in your speech, but... doing it EVERY time? It just got annoying...
@@GoldenSandslash15 Well, it comes from a friend of mine. She is very funny lady and when the Princess and the Frog came out, her daughter loved it and watched it all the time. So my friend would rant about it, she would say things like “THE VOODOO MAN IS COMIN’!” It always made me laugh, and we’ve been calling him that for years, so that’s why.
@@littlemac3732 ITE is good for easy gameplay and for new players who want to learn the game. Then for harder villains, get the Worst Takes it all and then the rest of expansions
Thanks for the playthrough. I think she ishas become just as OP as before, just in a different way. Yes there is the additional requirement of having a goon before playing a curse but you showed by a deft use of the move action that its easy to spread around the curses from just two locations. Personally I think they should have completely re thought her victory conditions with a main requirement of finding and cursing Aurora with Dreamless sleep (Maybe by using the spinning wheel) - you know like the story/film. More challenging but in line with Hook and Jafar CVs.
I’m still holding out that they’ll make an expansion that includes an updated Jafar and Queen of Hearts, just so that if you want to get those characters without having to buy an entire other starter set you have the option. Plus those two needed some work because Jafar was way too hard and Queen of Hearts was way too OP.
When you played bravo bravo for 0 power, even though play a card was blocked, you can’t do that I don’t think since you’re still playing a card, even though it’s free. Loved the video though!
@@popculturesgreatest9591 Well observed, however … the Bravo card allows Shere Khan to play the card without using a play card action. So it’s free not only in power but in actions.
Thank you for this show and tell. I was curious about what if any changes there had been made in this box set. I am in two minds about the new Ursula. Old Ursula was one of the hardest to play but it was (from a purest point of view) closer to the film story. It makes sense that Ursula cannot enter the palace until she has changed form and equally as obvious that in this new form she is locked from going back to her lair. Flotsam and Jetsum never attacked anyone (let alone gang up to defeat Triton), they were Ursula's manipulative minions not her soldiers. The contracts made sense. You make the deal and are fine until the term of the contract is met (ie moved to that specified location) That all being said for beginners the new version is easier to pick up and play for beginners and far more playable and competitive against others who are known for quick straight forward win conditions like Prince John. So while I think this makes New Ursula good for new people, for veterans I'd say only those who really want to have every variant of Disney Villainous should buy this. Curious to know whether the other three villains in this box have been tweaked as well.
@@davidwhitfield6025 Thanks for your comments. I agree about the old Ursula being very accurate to the character. Stick around, and I’ll be exploring the other villains in the box!
So I think for any rules that differ in introduction to evil, you and all other players agree on which rules to do. My family actually does a mix of both the original rule set and introduction to evil, we all start on the profile picture regardless of what villain you play as, and the amount of power you start with depends on the turn order like in the original. In other words think of it like a switch that you can either do the original rules or the new rules.
Honestly that kinda annoys me because I got the 10th anniversary edition of the game that didn’t come with a card and I’m not buy the same game AGAIN for a promo card.
I have a question after looking at Shere Khan can’t you just always beat him by just never fateing him because he has no way of pulling mowgli without having to kill a hero, which your opponent can just never do.
You have no idea how much this helped my mom. We like to play Villainous a lot (it’s a game we can get really competitive in) and King Candy is quite possibly her favorite Disney villain, but she was having a lot of trouble with how more complicated he was given his new board. Thank you so much and god bless!
@@Poweranimal84 No, only when you defeat other heroes then you put the counter on Baloo. If you defeat Baloo, he just goes. Unless something has changed. Has something been said elsewhere?
@@FinchiTTV Not really. I read somewhere how to do a solo game and I made some adjustments to make it more challenging for me. If you go to my first solo game video, I explain my methods pretty well, I think.
@@theabsentfriend4002 I did thanks for the suggestion! Also do you have any rule for the fate spaces? In actual play they ofc its used to fate another player but what about in solo?
@@FinchiTTV I don’t have a use for the fate icon in my version of solo mode. I know some use it to give them an extra turn, but that seems to be counterproductive, especially if you are training yourself to be a better player against real people.
I agree there is a lot of things to keep track of. You have to discipline yourself to always click the turn tracker first each turn. For example you had two turn 9s and missed being fated a turn earlier which may have impacted the game. I'd also hold to the rule if you collect your cards you have ended your turn and cannot go backwards (and risk making more mistakes - which has happened). When playing against opponents they are not going to let you to do a do over.
@@davidwhitfield6025 Yeah, I know what you mean … I have yet to play with hardcore friends like that yet, but i really want to cause it will definitely force me to step up my game.
Can sure to pick up his trail can mowgli be in the discard pile and this card is played can it than go to his realm or do you have to use a card like you will inform me first to discard three cards than bring mowgli from the discard deck and than play that card ? Can someone help me clarify?
Just played with King Candy last night… super fun. But it was a rough starts my wife fated me and discarded venelope and stuck Ralph’s medal on the bottom… it was an up hill battle. 😂 I don’t know if you can help with a rule issue that came up last night… I used the fate action on Shere Khan, revealed Mogali and a card that said “choose a location, heroes at that location get +1 strength.” Obviously I did not want Mogali to come out into play, so I opted to play the effect card… My wife thinks it was an invalid play as there were no heroes to get the benefit… but the way I read the card, it doesn’t sound like the location is required to have heroes, just choose location and heroes at that location get +1 strength… Maybe you could help clarify? Anyway, keep up to good coverage on Villainous!
@@Poweranimal84 You may play Choose a location even if there are no heroes there. As long as you choose a location :.. you played the card!! It is valid!
King Candy for breakfast. How sweet ;P I can see in a two player game King Candy have a real tough time. His fate actions are rather dependent on where he is on the race track (and two of them can be covered by heroes) where as an opponent could be fateing every turn if they chose (Syndrome and Madam Mim come to mind as serial fators). Also he has limited fating choices, especially during the race against the quick Villains like Prince John, Maleficent and the Queen of Hearts (or SHere Khan). Certainly an interesting villain but against others he is weaker (and if the medal is at the bottom of the deck he is really going to have a tough time. Still well done although you got to stop eating so much candy and slow down. Have a good one.
So for this video I decided to play King Candy along side you just to see if I could win with him faster and I managed to win on turn 11 but to be fair I got super lucky because I got the Hero Medal in my starting hand. Not only that but I was able to make a huge play using “Can’t be Allowed to Race” to move Taffyta and a Racers to Ralph’s location, use Taffyta’s ability to play Duncan and Wynnchel which then gave me enough strength to defeat Ralph.
This one is like Prince John vs Robin Hood except when you spend power and that objective gets destroyed, you immediately turn into a copy of someone like Captain Hook
@@theabsentfriend4002 that’s why you gotta get plenty of goons on standby so that when basil IS used to take down the robot, you can ambush him and win the game anyway
I actually like the two-tone of Maul's exclusive mover. All the other exclusive movers just remain monochrome but shinier. Also, just FYI to those who don't know, the box has the non-exclusive mover on the back, but the sleeve has the exclusive one.
@@theabsentfriend4002 well kinda. I meant His allies definitely reflect the idea, but with Peter Pan? Well his goal is to slay pan at the jolly Rodger, so having fate play Peter is like a 1 step closer to victory
Love your review and how honest you are with opinions/observations. I was also confused with a few choices like Maul's objective, the exclusive mover, and some of Phasma's cards. I think in the Finn vs. Phasma fight she calls him scum and Finn replies "Yeah... rebel scum" so thats probably where it comes from. I enjoy their gameplay and designs, but Maul feels a little too easy and Phasma feels really difficult to win with. I think Maul's mover is cool, but it doesn't feel like an exclusive mover. I also still don't know what the "Tour Guides" are from lol.
@@thisisnotsheraz I’m a terrible Star Wars nerd, I know episodes 1-6 in and out, and many of the stories that fall in between (Shadows of the Empire, ftw!), but thank you for your comments. I hope to get to play them soon and try em out!
Hey, can you make a new guide for Each Villain in intro too evil I'm I'm having problems figuring out strategies because the cards are kind of more complex, like if Prince Philip is played get rid of Ally's at the location does that mean if dreams less sleep is on that location you need to discard it because Allys must be at that location
@@pappychef Good question! Let me see what I can come up for a guide … meanwhile, I’ll do some research and see if I can answer your question on the floor!
So while it’s been a while since I’ve seen the show, I remember in Rebels Maul was trying to turn Ezra, the protagonist, to the dark side which is where this objective likely came from. The reason they probably went with this rather than just “Defeat Obi Wan” is because they may have wanted to represent a Sith turning a Jedi which is pretty common in Star Wars. Plus you could still technically defeat Obi Wan to win the game, it’s just not required to be him. Also the reason the Resistance are called Rebels could be that the First Order and Phasma see themselves as the rightful rulers even if they technically are the rebels in this case. Typical over confidence.
It think the First Order controls some kind of nebulous territory even before TFA, so the Resistance is "rebelling" within that part of space. It's kind of like the Americans that went to fight against facist Spain.
@@robertdullnig3625 Possibly … I’ve also heard this phrase spoken by a first order officer … “The treachery of the resistance holds no bounds!” What treachery? How did the resistance betray the first order? It’s an endless Star Wars debate. Give me a good Galactic Civil War anyday
Do you know when or if you'll be doing guides for this version of the game? Also hello, found your channel not too long ago and now use your rules for solo play, plus you have taught me a lot about them too so thank you!
I though the exclusive game piece would be like a token for the Maul gameplay, with the sith holocron being in the sleeve and all. Were you able to figure out what was exclusive for this version of the Maul mover?
@theabsentfriend4002 Thanks for doing the unboxing and clarifying that doubt. Since I'm not in the States, it's a little harder for me to get target exclusives, but to be honest, this one isn't worth getting if it's just a slight color change that most people won't notice.
@@theabsentfriend4002 You actually describe HOW to play each character, which I find useful. It’s where a lot of newcomers struggle with understanding how to play.
