does anyone happen to know what controller he is using? is it original nes hardware or a keyboard or some 3rd party controller? because ive been running this game for fun, and his tapping speed is insane
I wish you still streamed. I am a pool player and the way and amount I practice is very similar to speed running video games. I will always remember something you said one time in regards to trying to beat records or achieve greatness and it was “not to rush it” excellent advice man, I guess I just wanted to say thx and wish you would stream again
He plays an original Rockman 2 cartridge on an AV Famicom and surprisingly he plays it on a small flat screen TV which he says has a short enough input lag. I don't know if there's any other top NES speedrunner who plays on a flat screen TV, he might be the only one. Not recommended, but whatever works! (source: his livestream)
this is truly a pleasure to watch! the little trick of pausing and changing weapons in order to get a bit more distance mid-jump is fantastic. didn't know that one. very, very nice work.
The 23 something speedrun is a TAS, short for tool assisted speedrun. In other words, it's not a human playing in real time. TAS authors create these using softwares to slow down time or look at the game memory for example. This is to develop knowledge on the game and achieve the theoretical best possible time.
Not at the moment. He kept grinding for a few weeks after getting this wr run and then stopped. Ellonija got a pb 4 seconds behind this wr during his grind a few months later but apart from him, I don't think there are other active speedrunners who are close to this time right now. I guess he'd stream again if there was good competition.
