I really liked this band a lot back then … but it's 2024 and you still break your guitars and shit … it not even looks rock 'n roll more like: I'm so used to break so f*** it … pretty sad performance though …
I'm a huge fan of these guys, and I'm going to see them on the 23rd, because it'll be an honor to get to see them with their OG vocalist doing the Calculating stuff, BUT... ...this performance feels rough at best. Dimitri's vocals feel really flat and unenergetic, and it seems like he's just shouting more than he's actually screaming. Which is weird to me, because he sounded WAY better just doing those couple of songs at the farewell show in 2017, and I imagine he didn't practice nearly as much for that short set compared to what I imagine he's had to do to prepare for this mini tour. I know it's been years since then already, but he went a lot longer between leaving Dillinger and the farewell shows than those shows to now. I'm hoping this show was just him shaking the rust off, and I'm excited to see something close to the band's OG form no matter what (and tbh, a Dillinger show at all...after 7 years since the Terminal show I went to, it's a blessing to have one more chance to see them).
And Greg stans demanding Greg back refuse to understand that Ben wanted to celebrate 25 years of their groundbreaking album with the original vocalist. The audacity! No? Well stage shows aside, Greg stans certainly refuse to understand that despite all the stuff they made with Greg, Calculating Infinity still clears everything they made with Greg. No? Its legacy>
Seen them once with Dimitri in 1999 and they were amazing also saw Greg with them multiple times over the years and they were amazing. Never a bad show the always brought it. Only a couple bands that opened for them back in the day that were able to keep up with them Mastadon and Darkest Hour to me were the only bands that didn’t get stomped by DEP live…
I was near the barricade on the right. dmitri took a parasol from someone in the crowd near the beginning of this and was singing while holding it and stomping around. video does no justice. it was fun as hell. and he was intense af throughout the whole performance.
Dimitri what is going on with your vocals man? Hopefully this was just a once-off blunder. I know he is a million times better than this. Hes the king of the banshee scream
Yea cause god forbid we have a negative opinion in today's society. Everything needs to be positive. No negative thoughts cause somebody's feelings might get hurt. Dimitri's performance was boring and he just looked like he had no energy. Hopefully he can do better in the future. Watching his performance in 2017 he was solid but this is not.
@@sacredxgeometry this may be true, but allow me to explain: I don't mean this in a bad way, just that when this album was written DEP were very much still an underground band. This is a visceral, and personal work of art, not at all akin to stadium or festival rock. This was true punk rock, not meant for the masses and the club shows they did in support reflected the energy and intensity of the record. Personal, visceral live shows with no regard for the mainstream. DEP grew and evolved over the years and towards the end of their career, they most certainly leaned into a bigger, arena-like sound and it made their appearances at big festivals feel much more natural and understandable. Now granted, it is unfair to judge based on a poor phone video, and of course this is just speculation, but I think one of the reasons this video is so divisive among fans, is because these songs just don't translate well to a festival/stadium sound. I think the smaller shows will be received more favorably.
@@sacredxgeometry He is right. This music is too chaotic and and all over the place to be put on a bigger stage. This kind of stuff needs intimate feeling and chaos of it.
I do agree. However seeing dillinger at arctangent 2015, which is a similar size stage to this and TDEP were headlining.... that show made me a lifelong fan! Greg was on form and the crowd was electric @northtimo666
Wow 😂 For a band I have loved and seen multiple times throughout the years, who I also rated as one of the best live bands I’ve seen, this is just really sad and kinda lame 🤷♂️
Since the announcement, that Dimitri is performing, 99% of the fanbase were bashing Greg. Saying how much he sux and how much better Dimitri is. Now it's the complete opposite 🤣 DEP fans r just pathetic
Eh it seemed like it was mostly the old heads saying that. Every time someone brought up Dimitri bringing the real intensity it felt like an "okay boomer" moment to me. I think Ben really set Dimitri up for failure with the hired gun interview. Dimitri could sound amazing and this would still be getting criticized because they're two different front men stage presence wise. Still going to support the boys, but I'm expecting nothing to top the adrenaline rush I got at the couple of nights I was at Terminal 5.....and that's okay.
where did you saw that? 99% of the fanbase not only acknowledges Greg being a better a vocalist but also had negative reception to Ben trying to reduce Greg value to the band success lmao "99% of the fanbase" source: "20 people FB group that only loves the first record"
That’s nice but the reality is Dimitri himself chose to leave the band. That wasn’t Ben’s decision. They still wouldn’t have gotten where they did with Dimitri? Sure that’s also nice but barring the fact it was Dimitri’s decision to leave, so it took him 20+ years and no touring to not sound like he did in 2017 and other times he did guest spots with TDEP (he sounded great). But hey…
Sorry but this is an absolute abortion. I would want a refund seeing this and sadly dillinger is one of my favorite bands. Greg's live performances are what made this band what they were. This is just people playing TDEP covers if you ask me. How very unfortunate this is the current state of this band and Ben and Greg can't work out their differences.
@zachmillerdrums I know who Dimitri is... my comment about cover bands was about the quality sounding more like a cover band instead of being the original band who wrote the album. This sounds absolutely horrible.
@@zachmillerdrumsyou took the words out of my mouth. Yeah it's not a normal dillinger show it's a festival but this was still beautiful and we got Dimitri and Ben. Cover band? Right.
