Dear Amber, thank you for the vote of confidence! Im a former smoker so have thought my distal falanges always tense do to contracted muscles affected by nicotene. Havent smoked in ten years now so hopefully if ill put back on my shoulder and chin wrest i might have a loose set of flanges? I love your gentle teaching technique. Thank you!😅
I am first time viewing your video ma'am. Learning the orchestra and its classification. Thank you so much I am start follwing you. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful difference 🙏🙏
Hey Great Stuff Amber .. well done and played .. I really enjoyed your performance .. Ive just done "He's a Pirate" for 4 Guitars ..you might like ?💗👍👍🎻🎶
Amber, i discovered that I can hold the violin well and properly, but when I look at the music, the violin slides down and this is inhibiting vibrato. I have never heard anyone say this, but it is happening to me. Is there a solution????????
Hey there!! Ooo sorry that is happening-you’re not alone though. Check your shoulder rest is secure, your posture is upright and your music stand is at the right level…hope that helps a little!!
@@ViolinViolaMasterclass Thanks..my teacher says all looks good, but the minute I turn to look at the music, the violin slips down. I need to turn to look at the music.
For me the biggest difference is that one is called a violin and one is called a viola. I don't know anything about either instrument or music in general.
your videos are SO helpful! i played viola all throughout school (watched ur content a TON back then) and am picking up again 3 years later. your tips have improved my technique DRASTICALLY! thank you!!!
I am 70 and started the violin 8 yrs. ago, and I have progressed to Suzuki book 8. However, I cannot seem to learn vibrato. My teacher keeps encouraging me to no avail Can someone my age learn vibrato?
@@Shrinksjp there’s a playlist of either 9 or 10 steps-if you search for “violin viola masterclass vibrato steps” it’s should pop up…my sound is a little messed up in those videos if you use headphones unfortunately, I need to redo them…but the content is good!!
@@ViolinViolaMasterclass Thanks. I will check them out. I can play quite well considering I started so late and I am at Suzuki book 8, but vibrato has eluded me. My teacher keeps encouraging me.
Thanks Amber. Adding all these movements before I start to play. I usually just do open strings and it takes awhile before I feel loose. These movements before starting will be better.
I know how you feel, I have today picked up my violin again, after nearly one year, to say it sounds terrible would be an understatement. I will keep up a daily routine . x Hope you are keeping well.
I do that hand rub-thing all the time when I get anxious until someone yells, “stop rubbing your hands together!!!” please do a video reminding me to drink water! I work irrigating all day and yet forget to drink water! Ironic!!! ❤ Thank you!😊
The portato marking only means portato under a slur - its after more of a slurred but seperated pulsing sound. When you see the portato mark elsewhere (not under a slur or in the brass and woodwinds) it means half-stacatto - not as short as stacatto but not as long as the note without a marking. The note in thus case will have a ring to it like a guitar caused by the natural decay of the sound from which you can get harmonics.
AMBER I HOPE YOU CAN PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND TO MY OTHER MESSAGE. VIOLIN MAKES ME SP.ANGRY AND DEPRESSED I JUST WAN TTO EXPLODE. HOW CAN I KEAR. MORE WUICKLY.AND EASILY.AND NOT FEEL.HOMICIDAL RAGE EVERY TIME I PICK UP A VIOLIN. HOPE YOU CAN RESPOND WHEN YOU CAN. THANKS VERY
