many many lovely moments. especially loved from 2:47 to just after 3 minutes - there is a little seq. run that ends on a resonant higher pitched tone then a bass tone part that sits alone then a little melodic phrase thats lower in volume then another that is louder then a gentle pad swell that gets interrupted by the sudden "strummed sitar" like thing 🎶🎵☺🐝🐝
Hi Dennis! Thank you for noticing that section. It’s so cool that happened. That’s why I love Modular, diving into the unknown with an adventurous open mind ready for anything that can happen and then really cool things happen (also really gross things happen 😂) My intention with this was to learn to play the Pachinko and the Disting Resonator like an experimental instrument. Instead of just setting up parameters for generative and letting it run I wanted to fully interact and be apart of the piece. How those sounds happened is partly a mystery. I know I was focused on quickly turning rate on pachinko clockwise to make a run of notes and using structure on resonator to change tones and somewhere in that combo that crazy strum happened. Since disting/resonator has two outputs I’m able to record it as two separate tracks. I was having tuning issues with the disting so one of the sides recorded I put a heavy reverb on it from the vahalla plug in in ableton and it smeared out all the pinging out of tune sounds and made these awesome pads that followed the main tones. The Mavis made those super sweet low tones and I think… (this was before I realized I should write out patch notes) …I had it patched to the constant beat out (t2) of the pachinko so when I would change the rate on the pachinko it would go from fast beats to slow swells. Definitely writing patch notes these days. This was the second thing I made when I had just 3 modules the disting ex, quadratt, and pachinko. Thanks again Dennis! Always a pleasure hearing from you.
I love this!! It really takes you to a place where you can be fully present in nature while listening to the unique sounds of modular. It’s paired perfectly ❤❤with
Thank you so much Paul!! I really appreciate you saying that. I’m really proud of this one. I’m so excited, just found out there’s a new tracker update that allows you to make sounds in the system instead of only being able to use samples and recorded sound. A whole new level of fun is about to open up 🥰
Thanks Dennis! Always appreciate your comments. Means a lot! Have you received your Voltage Control Lab yet?? If so, how have you enjoyed it?? I’m so curious…
@@Lk747CC Not yet. Last I heard (on Wednesday) they are still on the boat... Soon though! I plan on using the forum more, but I'll DM you *somewhere* after I've received and settled in with the VL2.
Love it! Also, how terrifying-looking are ladybug larvae!? First time I noticed one was when we first got chickens, 14 years ago. I found one in the coop and was convinced it was up to something nefarious. We had an absolute explosion of aphids the past couple years and the ladybugs wasted no time getting to work. I was having to escort lost 'bugs out of the house every day for months.
@ModularBeat oh my goodness!!! The same thing happened to me. I thought I had an infestation in my spinach of some kind of freaky dinosaur crustacean. I couldn’t find anything about it, so i pulled everything up and composted it immediately only to find out they were ladybugs!! Then I was devastated. It never came to mind they could possibly be ladybugs. They are horrifying. 😂 I took some photos of them too but decided to leave them out of the video, too hard to explain… that is too funny. Thank you for sharing this with me and for checking out my video.
Thank you!! 😊 I was pleasantly surprised when I patched the sample and hold utility from the Mavis into the VCO of the dfam and it produced that sweet slewed fluctuating tone in the bass beat. The magic of Modular, can’t get enough of it. Thanks for taking the time to give it a listen! Looking forward to your next video….
Wow thank you so much for your kind words!! I’m so happy to hear this inspired you. Aphex Twin!? I’m incredibly flattered you put us in the same vibe 🥰 enjoy yourself ☀️
Thanks so much David!! That means a lot! It’s Colorado right outside of Lyons. It’s a favorite and beautiful hike called Button Rock, follows the water up to the reservoir. The area from Lyons to Estes so close to the beginning of the Rocky Mountains has a lot of powerful energy. Just love it.
@@Lk747CC Colorado was my first guess, lol, we lived in Lyons back in 2012!!! Loved the drive up to Peak-to-Peak Hwy ... Well your music superbly captured the essence!
Thank you so much!! So happy you like it. I felt it so fitting to merge the tracker with the dfam analogue sound to represent the electrical signals of communication that run through the mushrooms mycelium network. 🥰 always fascinated by mushrooms. Thanks for listening and enjoying!!
Lauren, that's amazing! I was brought right back to Mable Dodge Luhan house and our magical time together. You captured images that caught my eye too, though I sketched where you took photos and videos. I could feel your footsteps on the route to Morada. Now I can walk there any time I wish. You created something that did not exist just days ago. How miraculous is that?Thank you for putting this out there in the universe. It resonates.
Marla!! Oh my goodness, thank you so much!! I’m so happy you feel this way. I’m really glad that it resonates, that means a lot to me. I’m so glad this can bring you back to our time together and to that wonderful place. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi! Thanks! I was listening to your music and it’s awesome! You keep up the good work too 😊 I especially love the Jo Rock Bo album. It’s a great morning jam.
