As a retired Home and Commercial Building Inspector, I created this channel dedicated to the Building Science of structures in the Deep South, with the primary goal of mitigating the many issues southern structures face, due to the hot humid climate we live in. I have spent many years researching thousands of products and doing my own experiments. Many of the videos on this channel were taken at my house. My home is like a UL Laboratory and I usually have at least a dozen experiments underway. As a result, I have found unique products and many ways to preserve my home. This has led to substantial savings, the preservation of my home and the mitigation of health hazards. This channel will certainly save you thousands of dollars, because Knowledge is Savings. Thanks for subscribing and being a part of Building Science RU-vid Channel.
This "content provider" is a complete moron, which is why he has a whopping 56 subscribers. He keeps referring to the ozone level meter as "get yourself one of THESE". What are THESE? He had three opportunities to tell us what they're called, and three times he failed. Then he pages through the booklet, telling us to freeze the images to read them, but he shoots a video that can't be read under ANY circumstances. I think he inhaled waaaaay too much ozone to be making any future videos.
I’m not 100% sure but I got a feeling I have bedbugs STILL…. I moved like 4 times and still got them. I can’t see them but you know when you have been through it before. I learned how to control the Itch, Even though I can feel the itch very little. I just touch it so nobody can tell. And even after I threw every single item away. Beside two items like my iPad and phone. What I didn’t want to throw away I have them lock up in a shed that I don’t mess with. Anyway if were to buy that do I have to worry about them going into my other rooms? I live in a trailer. And most of it is empty like I said I threw out 99% of the items I had. I do have 3 cats, but they say bedbugs don’t stay on animals.
Thank you for the video! We have some galvanized steel pipes under our house every year that freeze, and I've replaced portions of it with pex. Would like to eventually replace the entire plumbing with pex, just looking for some advice on how to keep lines from freezing.
The only way to mitigate pipes from freezing is with insulation. PEX is resistant to busting, but can still freeze and the fittings can bust as a result. I recommend replacing the Galvanized Water Pipes, since they are also vulnerable to clogs.
I have "successfully" made my bedroom "safe" to sleep in by running my ozone generator on a 24 hour timer (36,000 mg/hr for 2 hrs on and 2 hrs off) while out of town for 3 days, leaving the bedroom door open to fill my entire condo with ozone. The bedroom certainly having the highest concentraton. I do realize that the ones hiding in cracks, crevices, wall outlets ans switch plates will not get a full dose of Ozone. I will need to coax them out and seal those hiding spaces. I have a lot of clutter in the entire condo, allowing many hiding places for the bugs, so it is not being 100% effective. Arriving home, the ozone content in my condo was very high and it took hours for the place to air out enough to stay in there. I have been sleeping in the bedroom since the first 3 day treatment and instead of getting the usual barrage of bites, I have only got a few, in several days, which I may have got from the bed bugs that have moved to my car. I need to clean out the car and give it a treatment, also. Once all the clutter, in my condo is removed, I expect much better results.
@@serenitymareebeauty Why are you asking abouty my car? My condo is in Michigan and I travel to Ohio. I run the ozone generator on a timer while in Ohio.
@@kotjmf1968 I didn’t ask ABOUT your car. I asked where u plugged it because since I’m in in apartment, I’ll have to drive somewhere that has an outlet to do my own. I was looking for a suggestion as to where I can find an outlet outside and safely let the ozone work for 30 minutes, than air out for an additional 30 minutes or more
@@serenitymareebeauty I am NOT treating my car. I am treating the interior of my condo. If you are going to treat your car, run an extension cord out to your car and run the ozone generator from the extension cord.
I know ozone can cause damage to rubber and plastics. I have had plastic grocery bags just fall apart when I used ozone for a few days straight in an old house that has smell and pest issues. How long do you run your machine and how often to gets good results for pests?
I got sold on these when my problem was carpenter ants. I never had termites. I connected with a local exterminator on RU-vid with a big following. My stations were installed in another state at a vacation home. The company implied they carry the bait back to the colony and share. termites die. Not true, the termites die because they can't molt. In that two year period they could have already eaten your house. The company I used had a 60 day notice policy after the one year contract if you wanted to cancel. They also told me they only check them once a year. So in order to get them checked I would have been past my 60 day notice. The woman also tried her best to get me not to cancel, that the company would make repairs for any termite damage. My contract did not say that, my only warranty was a retreat only because I had a wood eating pest. I had carpenter ants. So this was a big waste of $700 for the bait stations. As for my carpenter ants they were just doing basic pest spraying, that was another $500. We ended up spraying with Tarus SC and got rid of the carpenter ant problem. My pest control friend told me the bait in the station looked old. I might get one more year out of it. Unless you have something different I wouldn't count on 7 years. Mine are in damp clay soil and it may have caused them to degrade. The company had made an appointment to come back and get the stations, they never showed. That was three months ago. I've left them in the ground.
Isnt there some kind of gadget you can buy that attracts them and then zaps them like a mosquito zapper except its not a light or heat device? Or a device that repeals them so they want to leave your house?
Great tips. That insulation might not be enough for outdoors. I had some on an AC line and after a few years it's falls apart. The foam is usually wrapped in white plastic when used outdoors.
Greetings from North Carolina! I've been considering maybe moving to Baldwin County one day if circumstances permit and have found your driving tours very helpful. Also your Building Science videos. You have a great speaking style, and I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for your generosity and hard work putting these together. Much appreciated!
Thanks for the complement, if you would like to hear about other preservation topics, I have a new channel titled "Building Science". Subscribe to this channel to stay up dated on future topics. Thanks for subscribing to this channel too.
