It's crazy to think about how long Alonso has been in F1, and all the legends he used to race with. Even more so considering he's probably STILL one of the Top5 or at least top10 drivers on the track.
Fangio and prost are best f1 driver Senna was faster but not better Prost won 1988 championsh, he didnt need Speed to beat ayrton He is the professor ❤😂😂😂😂😂
I became fascinated by f1 in 1967 watching the 1967 germany GP on nurburgring nordschleife. the young belgian driver jacky ickx qualfied as 3rd in a f2 car, faster than almost all f1. he started the race from 18th because the f2 were lined-up behind the f1. unfortunately mid-race he had to retire in 5th position (!) due to a gearbox problem. such a performance is unthinkable nowadays. no wonder he became my favourite f1 driver, although later being team mate with my compatriot clay regazzoni for many years. after this spectacular race he was soon hired by the cooper f1 team for two GPs. in his first ever grand prix in monza he scored a point with a 6th place. 1968 then finished the f1 championship 4th on a brabham. 1969 Ickx won his first two grand prix and ended up vice champion behind jackie stewart who scored 26 points advantage. returning to ferrari in 1970 ickx finished 2nd again behind jochen rindt who dominated the championship on the revolutionary lotus 75 which was the dominating car of that season. in the following years ickx the ferrari showed to be not so competitive and very unreliable. nevertheless he scored two wins. in 1974 he made a bad move to lotus. the british team lost its competitiveness that year, whereas the ferrari improved. clay regazzoni - who was outperformed by ickx from 1970 to 1973 - finished the season 2nd just 3 points behind champion fittipaldi. and 1975 niki lauda became the first ferrari champion for many years. until his career end in 1979 the belgian driver had no sucess on williams, wolf, ensign and ligier. Ickx though became reknown as the best ever sports car driver, winning the 24 hours of Le Mans multiple times with various team mates. I think with a winner-car he also could have become f1 champion during the seventies.
The best drivers in history are the ones between 1975 and 1995, when you didn't have electronics and assistance everywhere and the pilots were left on their own with their manual sticks. I don't think any F1 connoisseurs would consider Hamilton a greater driver than Senna, Schumi or Prost. The numbers are meaningless. It's the toughness of the competition that matters. The GOAT belongs in the 80s, between Senna, Lauda, and Prost and a young Schumi. Choose your pick. Difficult not picking Prost when you realize his competition at the time and the fact he finished twice behind Lauda on half a point.
Agree. And anyone who has witnessed F1 racing from, for example, 1970 to 1990 knows how hard it was to win a race with that level of reliability of those cars. Not to mention track conditions, complete absence of any sort of computers. Almost no saftey at all... How fragile those cars were. Any crash was life threating. Those drivers were truly heroes. Hamilton 4 times better then Fangio? 🤣🤣🤣And, for me, Alain Prost is the best driver in F1 history, considering his technique, his smoothness. his tactics.
I did this a few months ago myself before finding this video, and it was just NUTS! Irvine is champion instead of Hakkinen, and Ralf Schumacher outscores his brother!
It seems that competition was much higher before the 90s. However, as technology improved, good racers with more advanced cars than others increased the gap.
Schumacher is the real winner, came to a poor team(with a terrible car), created the best car later, and remained hardworking and the best driver himself. Without him, ferrari wouldn't have known what victory was and they were great only because of him. After he leaves, what remains? rhetorical question. Yes, sometimes he didn't show his best side, but that's what champions are like, you can't be perfect in everything. He also helped Mercedes, which later helped them create a self-winning car for Hamilton (but even so, under conditions of adequate competition, he could have lost to other racers cos he is good driver but not great). Senna is also the greatest driver and it is unknown how much more he could have won and what contribution he could have made. Verstappen has every chance to get closer to these legends, because even in bad conditions he manages to earn points, get on the podium, and still manages to play simulators at night before the Grand Prix, he is just built different xD
Max only looks good because Perez sucks, or Red Bull just cheat to give Max a better car to make him look better. Can’t beat Hamilton unless he’s in a far superior car
Its hilarious reading this comment section. People denying Hamilton's greatness and coming up with excuses like "Well he had the best car". Well then what did Schumacher have? What does Verstappen have now? We all know the real reason most of you guys don't like seeing him at the top.
Funny how Max was not even on the table until he got his Red Bull seat. Categorically proves it's the car and definitely not the driver. Another Sebastian Vettel one trick pony. When he no longer has the dominant cars, his wins will dry up and he will be forgotten (notice also that his Dad never even made the list).
