He was always very gracious though, and I can recall that in 1958 Mike Hawthorn won the championship by only one point to him. Moss in fact would have won the championship, had Hawthorn gotten his penalty at the Portuguese GP, but he defended him and Hawthorn wasn’t penalised. For me, the greatest driver to never win the world championship, shows that you don’t have to have won one to be one of the greatest drivers ever. His success outside of Formula 1 was incredible. Very all round driver.
Without Masi's human error in Abu Dhabi, Max would have 25 wins, and would be well on his way to breaking Mansell's record of most wins before becoming World Champion (29)!
@@emilianososa2079 nope, Lewis had the slower car and STILL should've won without the rigged finale and Red Bull breaking the cost cap. He was easily the best driver of 2021. And the rightful champion.
