He appears to be hanging his Thankga by the string that’s ONLY meant to support the cover. You tie those ribbons in a bow and hang it by them. The string is only meant to support the cover not the entire Thangka
Where do you buy the cord? And how do you attach or add the tassels? My wrist mala has 2 tassels.sadly it broke. I am trying to learn how to resting it.🙏
Thank you for this video, the information you presented was exactly what I needed. As I watched you tie the slider knot it looked very familiar, it's the same knot I have used to make Chinese teapot braids between the handle and lid. I found I would get lost tying it as to which side was which side and finally put a small knot at the end of the strand that first goes under the two center strands (the right strand you started the knot with). That way when I got lost, I could find where I was and I didn't have to start over -- I took a while to figure this out. Thank you again. _/\_ 马丁云山
My hand-held prayer wheel came apart and now I am not sure if the scroll inside was placed back correctly. I am concerned because if the scroll is now set upside down then what was a clockwise rotation becomes a counter-clockwise rotation. Will this matter in terms of the efficacy of the prayer inside? (How would I know which is the top and the bottom of the paper scroll?)
Hi Noe. The prayers most like be the prayer of compassion which usually means the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is repeated on the scrolls. They may be written in Tibetan or Sanskrit but either way the top part of the writing usually appears as almost a flat line so if you make sure the scroll is stood with the flat line to the top then your good to go
Was he pronouncing 'thangka' as th (as in the th in 'thank you') ? The 'h' is an aspirant and so is not conjoined to make a sound like the th in 'thank you - it is more closely pronounced 'tangka' but with a slight aspirated 'h' after the 't'. I may be mis-hearing him and so apologies if I am.
Tibetans pronounce it as "tang. ka' with the accent on the first syllable. "Tang" has /a/ as in 'father'. It does not rhyrme with 'hang' as in 'hang it up.' However, we have a British accent here, so.....LOL!
Hí, I have a mini wall prayer wheel, I had to wash it under flowing water, with detergent, the mantra inside, did they got hurt? I try to send a photo, if I can. Thank you greatfully. if you answer!
Out of all the tutorials, this one was by far the easiest to follow. After being confused by the first 5, this immediately gave sense to all the other needlessly complicated video tutorials. I should have started out here but than I probably wouldn’t have appreciated this one as much. Thank you for teaching me how to do this 🙏
Thank you 💙 I don't and can't find guru beads.. what should I do? I fear that mala beads are becoming a fashion in th west. Imsee alot of people wearing thrm just for the "look". It disappoints me
Hello! You are an awesome teacher! I had watched others, but still couldn't manage these knots! But you showed precisely what to do and have taken some of the mystery out of making Mala! Thank you for sharing! Namaste.😊
