Thanks again, we love you too Mr Bones. I played MLEM at the Birmingham UK games Expo- and really enjoyed it- there were 4 of us and the interaction the game offers is great. Is it as fun with 2 players? I recently bought HARMONIES and have played it a few times and love it. Unfortunately the cards are a little thin and a bit warped- I may have to put them under a pile of bricks for a few weeks. There’s no other game from 2024 I’m desperate to get hold of currently. I did pick up an old copy of Condottiere which I found to be hilarious fun- and it’s in a small box with a small central board. I’m not sure how good it would be at 2; again I suspect the interaction at higher player counts improves the game.
My husband wants to try MLEM so we are going to have to give that one a shot at some point. We have not played a single game on your 2024 list yet though, so I imagine we will be trying others as well. Thanks for the video!
MLEM is absolutly great, we played it sooo often in the last weeks the interesting pont is, that even you are not the person with the dice in the hand... you are excited togehter about how the dice will fall ... ;-) it's a lot of fun
Umbrellas looks really good. Have you tried the other umbrella game for 2024," Agueda, City of Umbrellas ", yet? That one looks really interesting too.
Great video and I like the topic. I'm curious, what do y'all plan on doing with all your games, when you, in the far, far future, finally leave this earth?
I can’t wait to play this game! I’m gone for a couple months and my copy was delivered a week after I left. That is a bummer the production quality is lacking. I bet they are planning on a deluxe edition in the future if it sells well.
And I understand why you got that version of the set. Because you probably like the special edition version. More than the original version. And when I first watched this video I immediately knew that it was the 15th anniversary version
Well, you say that it was October 8th. When you were filming this, maybe you just filmed it on the 8th, but you forgot to upload it to RU-vid. So that's why it says it was on the 11th. I'd say everybody likes the polar Express.Well it's a great movie and actually Lionel is announcing a 20th anniversary Version of the Polar Express It's probably already out on Is the lionel website
This is one that I never pulled the trigger on because I wanted to play it first. We are going to try and make the Escape Winter convention in March 2025 so hopefully we can try it there! Thanks for the video, Bones!
We hope to be at Escape Winter as well! It would be great to meet you. The game was on sale and SO nice looking we couldn’t resist! And we weren’t disappointed. Thanks for watching and commenting.
My husband took one look at that shirt and decided he needs one too! Lol - and he thinks I should have one that says "Best Cat Mom Ever!" As for the game, I took a look at it when it was crowdfunding, but I really dislike bidding in games. Had I paid for it through crowdfunding, I would be seriously upset with the quality of the components!
We have not purchased the expansion and have not had an opportunity to try it. Love the game the way it is, though! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I really enjoy this game, and it's such a beautiful production. I agree that there's plenty of replayability despite the scenario setup, between the varying difficulty levels and multiple event decks... And unpredictable dice rolls. Great video! Thank you for sharing!
Got me really curious about Nocturne now! Wasn’t on my radar. My favorite or the previous three is actually Cascadia and Calico is second. I understand what you mean by the pressure, but Calico felt like you could really get sunk without the proper stuff coming out. As for Verdant, well, I didn’t care for that one at all and could be part of the reason why I wasn’t aware of Nocturne. Thanks for the honest review!
Just found my new favorite board game review channel! Your videos are so calming and informative, not to mention entertaining! I love the dynamic between you two, very fun and sweet to watch :) can’t wait to see more!
I've only played one dice chucker game Cosmic Frog (and Risk many moons ago). It was quite fun. My group predominantly play Euros though. Watching games be played on the internet before buying is the greatest tip ever got from your channel. Thanks!
Always enjoy watching your videos! I definitely find my tastes gravitating to the Euro side, but am very willing to try any game at least once. Absolutely the best hobby!
It’s the best way to be to fully enjoy this hobby! We got a couple plays in of Touch of Evil. In our second play we rolled snake eyes and got forced into a showdown!! Hope you are having a great week.
Hi, Mr. Bones! Did you and the missus succumb to the temptation of the Merchants of the Dark Road expansion? It seemed so steep to me but, in the end, I succumbed! 😅😂 Hope I find it worth it as I love the base game! :)
Yes! We did succumb! We normally don’t do expansions and have been trying to stay away from Kickstarter, but this one dragged us in. Also getting the upgrades for Santa’s Workshop. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@bonescollector5367 You're welcome! And I share your sentiments. :) Hopefully we will all enjoy it immensely, and hope you'll enjoy 'the Workshop, too! :P
Wonderful top 10! And Atiwa is there again! I still cannot decide to buy it or not... It's a fantastic theme, wonderful game but so much reviewers complain about the replayability... What is your opinion? It seems the solo mode is very good. The replayability is what is letting me doubt... Maybe you can make me finally decide 😉
I do agree that the replayability could be limited. I keep it for the educational and cute factors. As we play so many games, when we revisit the game it’s not as much of an issue. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@bonescollector5367 thanks for your answer, in the meantime I ordered it 😊 I think the solo mode has lots of things to offer too, and I'm curious if I could change the replayability a bit myself by making some little changes to the rules 😌
Thanks for the video; enjoyed finding out about these games. I just got back from the UK’s largest boardgame convention; had a lot of fun! I tried Reina Knizia’s MLEM which was great fun- probably better with higher player counts; I also got to try his latest game now on kickstarter called ‘Rebirth’ which was also fantastic. Check them out.
Glad you got to the expo! We have MLEM and love it. We will definitely watch for Rebirth. We are heading to Dice Tower convention in a couple weeks so we’ll get to try some newer games. How many games did you buy?
I love Keep the Heroes Out, but had a very similar experience to yours my first time playing it. I pretty much only play on the family difficulty level, and it can still steamroll you quickly if you aren't paying attention. Solo works very well, but I'd recommend playing with 2 monsters. You're right that the downtime with more than 2 is not good, and there are other games better suited to 3+. Thank you for sharing!
It can be a deceptively difficult game. We especially love it because it plays so well at 2 players. Glad to hear we aren’t the only ones who had difficulty even on the family level!!! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Yeah, what's the deal with flimsy boxes?! Czech of course, but Ravensburger too. Even just sitting on a shelf they bend from gravity over time. Don't even think of stacking another game on top! Anyway, great video! And it's always nice to see your cat(s) steal some screen time😊
I know I rant about flimsy boxes but it should not be something we have to keep talk about. Our kitties love board game pieces! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I like your energy and how you review a game based on what its supposed to accomplish. Some heavy gamers gave this a bad review just because it's a game developed for people who enjoy a light-medium euro with small rules and a lot of stuff to do.
They both look beautiful. I love the 25th anniversary edition of Ra that you featured on your channel. I will keep an eye out for these 2 games as well.
I absolutely adore World Wonders. It's thinky enough for me and welcoming enough for gamers just starting out. The table presence of that production draws new players in. I've wanted to find an iron copy of Pueblo for quite some time, I hope that version does go to retail. 😊
The MSRP is awesome for the quality you get in World Wonders. That game has it all and the fun factor is there as well. Good luck finding Pueblo, it is definitely worth checking out. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I haven’t played Pueblo- but hope to sometime- it looks fun! As you may recall I am becoming a 31:52 huge fan of Kramer & Keisling. I recently bought an old copy of TORRES ( I subsequently print language independent cards for this copy as there was German text which I cannot read ) I haven’t played it yet. Last night however, my friends and I played our first game of MIYABI. I loved it; classic K&K; simple rules, elegant play- I found it very enjoyable and the first play helped me to begin to understand some of the point scoring concepts.
We love Miyabi as well. It has much deeper game play than a normal HABA game. Such a wonderful puzzle to solve and there are so many modules to add in. Torres is an oldie but a goodie. We got lucky and found a copy at a garage sale. Our cards have icons and text. I hope you enjoy it. Pueblo is definitely worth seeking out.
I loooove World Wonders. I think playing with the end game scoring cards is very easy and adds a little more for players to guide them towards a goal. I also think I’ll almost always pick the end game scoring card that gives points for placing the most Wonders- because without this the wonders don’t seem to be rewarded with enough points. I copied and printed more of the player aids as I really wanted one for each player.
I am jealous! I would love to get the 10th Anniversary edition of this one. I have 100 plays of the game in currently and, needless to say, my game is looking a bit rough :) I hope you enjoy it!
