Major Changes coming to the Channel. With a focus on better quality, more builds and an official decision to keep this channel almost all about Sim Racing the decision has been made to transition the channels name from Podium Couch (which never made sense to most anyways) to Third Wheel Media (as in the the third wheel in your relationship with sim racing). The Podium Couch name will live on to honor a humble and slow beginning as the production and parent company to both Wheel Grime and Third Wheel Media. We’re ready to move forward fast and this is one of the many changes we will be making to fulfill that goal.
Some of that may happen but my setup wouldn’t work with a Dbox. Might do a seat mover though. Was focused on the other half of the game room but jumping back into working on the sim rig now.
Hi, I love your simrig and the idea you had to create the roll cage, so much that I decided to create something similar too.... However, I noticed that in the latest videos you have changed the shape of the roll cage. Can I ask you why?
I actually built a new rig, the change in design was to lift the roof higher for space and to improve light diffusion. The new ambient light system has to be just right to provide good GoPro light and prevent a sunroof effect.
@@ThirdWheelExclusive that’s so cool. Was considering a hue setup like mentioned but have the required parts you mentioned (but not the number of leds mentioned) so I’m gonna give it a try. So glad this popped up on my feed.
@@paulb36utube I went way overkill so I would have good GoPro lighting. You can also run Govee or hue bars with the diy setup. I am now up to 900 LEDs and 4 govee bars
What parts did you buy to make the GoPro go that low down your face? I'm interested in making some POV videos and can't decide between this or the GoPro bite mount. Thanks!
I just grabbed a U Bolt from Home Depot and bent it until it was the right angle then attached GoPro tripod mounts on both ends. I just ordered a necklace style mount to see if I can close to the same angle without the head gear. Not sure it will feel the same but we will see.
Sweet setup. And interesting video. I'm also thinking of going this route with my rig. So its nice to hear someone else thougts and ideas. New sub here 👍
@@user-bp9oj5ly1k They are 1080, as much as I would love a higher quality image, running a higher refresh helps with response times to prevent spins and crashing so until I have a gpu that can run 144+ at higher density, I’m stuck at 1080.
@@ThirdWheelExclusive Thank you for your response. I am deciding on my next triples i will want 1080p but idk if 27 or 32s. Do you think its immersive enough?
Fanatec made its bed and they have to sleep in it. About 4 or so years ago they brought the csl DD to the market and they made tons of money on it but they also spent lavishly on racing events. Their name was plastered everywhere in real racing sports and e sport events and they let their core system of their company fall behind. They always were plagued with shipping delays. The angle i see is that they had to do orders in small batches because they probably did not have the capital to get some stock done at that time and that came to bite them in the behind. I remember waiting for months for my stuff which really pissed me off. Also the fact that some of their stuff was half baked did not help them and they took forever to release the dumbest simplest could have been done in a day on a machine solution to their wheel being loose on the drive thing while other companies solved the issue on the first round which leaves me to pounder if Fanatec had a ton of stock for their adapters to the wheels and just wanted to burn that stock before offering a new solution. Who knows. Bottom line. They got to the market first. Charged a lot. They were slow to ship. Discounts were few and far in between. No availability at brick and mortar store led to them getting to the brink.... plus those lavish sponsorship and ad spent to pollute everything racing with the name Fanatec...
If you don’t already have the T-LCM pedals, that will impact consistency much more than the wheel will. That said, if you’re considering an upgrade, direct drive is less expensive than the tsxw new and is far more refined.
Nothing to apologize for. Performance driving, learning to understand and feel the balance of the car and traction limits takes time to learn. Also it's not a competition out there, the goal is for you to improve your skills, improve your lap times.
I have plenty of full length or full lap videos with better camera view on my channel. For shorts, I have to keep them very small or they just get buried by the algorithm.
Im doing the same thing this weekend thankyou for the idea....may i suggest for immersion blacking out all the under tv area iv done so and it adds the my immersion quota
Hey thank you for video. I am looking to start to build one (I was originally planning to go with Phillips Hue) but as i like to do things this sounds good option. At the moment i am looking that 255 and 64 LED matrix from Aliexpress. Seems options seems to be smaller matrix what i can find
@@ThirdWheelExclusive yeah i found some from Aliexpress and thinking should i get 3 x 64 matrix or 2 x 64 and 1 x 255. I didnt fully understand what you mean that Simhub supports only 255 leds? If i would have 2 x 64 then simhub would only control 127 from 255 matrix?
@@ThirdWheelExclusive Yeah, for historical tracks it's impossible, and not all other tracks are scanned too. But at least these are (there might be more): Azure, Brands Hatch, Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Donington Park, Hockenheimring, Jerez, Monza, Nürburgring, Oulton Park, Silverstone, Snetterton, Spa-Francorchamps
It’s not so much a function you can add as a setting you adjust. If the tunnel is darker than the outside brightness and lights aren’t dimming then you may need to adjust luminosity settings to be more sensitive. I keep my arduino lights on gray scale also to help with this.
I have a other question 😂😅 i would like do other things liké Motorsport for pédales so i would like know then IS possible to use Arduino Uno to ambilight ???
Thanks, neither concept is necessarily new but as far as I know, I’m the only one using Arduino with matrix instead of light strips and combining the two kinds of lights. It definitely achieved the goal I was going for
@@ThirdWheelExclusive right on. Mine is a paperweight. I could not get it to work with their software. I still have hopes to find something I can smack it with either firmware (QMK or VIA) and hopefully getting it to work. #stillhavehope
Must be in the setting. Iracing has tons of feedback for me compared to anything else. It’s possible rfactor could be better that’s why I’m keeping it to mess around with. Raceroom and AMS, I don’t feel are worth the time to dial in.
This is a great perspective for a starter. What about the more modern rally - EA WRC, WRC Generations? For all styles, what if you don't want to play online?
If you want a variety of racing styles and offline play, I think AMS2 might be the best option. ACC if you wanted offline for GT racing. As far as WRC, I was pretty unhappy with the support for the previous titles so I didn’t try Generations. May be missing out. I loved WRC on my single screen PlayStation rig many years back but not so much on the PC rigs.
