Items needed-
1. Arduino Nano (Some boards may require use of old bootloader when selecting board on Arduino software)
2. RGB Light Strip WS2812B (number of LEDs per foot can vary. I have two 37 inch strips. The main is 60 total leds, the secondary is only 18 leds for a total of 78 on my build, you can choose what you want for your layout, just code accordingly)
3. 5v usb cable (preferably one with no plug)
4. Led light strip connectors (depending on which strips you choose.
5. Sim Hub Software (Works best with paid key) extra $10 but well worth it if you don’t already have.

Great video man! I've been looking for new things to add to my rig, The DIY never stops

I’m just getting warmed up on DIY, now I’m thinking I might switch up the light locations and build a proper enclosure.

excellent video and perfect timing! I want to add active lighting to my cockpit.. mine is completely enclosed and i use static lighting to mimic in cockpit leds found in alot of race cars... but i need something to emulate lighting shining through windows. Id looked at the Phillips Hue.. but its pretty pricey i feel. This may just solve that :)
@ThirdWheelExclusive
@ThirdWheelExclusive Год назад
Thanks, I was also digging the Phillips hue idea but now that I’ve been working with these lights, I feel like a little diffusing and they might actually be better for getting the light simulation where you want it. Just need more time to get them fully dialed in.

I finally got it working and it’s pretty cool! One problem and I’m curious if you had it and how you solved it. How are you able to display it in triples? I only see my center monitor on the live setup. And thus the app is only pulling information from the front monitor. Curious why I can’t see triples in simhub ..
@ThirdWheelExclusive
@ThirdWheelExclusive 11 месяцев назад
@@rickswanracing3139 I keep my eyefinity active at all times so my triples show as one screen even when I’m not gaming. If you aren’t in surround or eyefinity then that is probably the problem.

I have questions is possible to ad fonction when I go in tunnel ( in the game ) the light decrease ?
@ThirdWheelExclusive
@ThirdWheelExclusive 3 месяца назад
It’s not so much a function you can add as a setting you adjust. If the tunnel is darker than the outside brightness and lights aren’t dimming then you may need to adjust luminosity settings to be more sensitive. I keep my arduino lights on gray scale also to help with this.

I’ve done a few night drives that are posted but there have been some upgrades and I’m still experimenting but here’s a fun one. ru-vid.com_AgqENLC0F0?si=Zx3CMHJZgxkp30sL

hello in the arduino settings tab you are connected when on the other side in ambient light you are connected? do you have com port 10 enabled on both sides? because me when I am connected in ambient light I am disconnected in arduino .. is normal because at home it does not work
@ThirdWheelExclusive
@ThirdWheelExclusive Год назад
Yes that is normal, Arduino tab should not be connected for your lights. It should just be your ambient light tab connected. We’re you able to get the lights to activate when you ran the test code on electronoob? I know sim hub has its own programmer but the electronoob one is more customizable and test friendly.

ok thank you for your answer in relation to my question... I only have one led strip, like in your video, I connected the white and the green on the arduino card but the red and the black at your place. have you connected to another usb cord.. have to do like you? I may not need it, in my situation should I take a red wire and solder it to the 5volt of the arduino card or not? in fact I am well connected in ambient light but my led strip does not light up
@ThirdWheelExclusive
@ThirdWheelExclusive Год назад
If you have both leads then the second red and white should go to a secondary usb with direct power. The main red is unused and the green would go to 6 and white to ground. You could run one strip off the board hooked directly to 5v but it will get hot so I don’t recommend it and if you do, only to test that the light strip is functioning.

If you want to hit me up directly on FB messenger with some pictures, I can try to see what might be the problem. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100071394211505&mibextid=LQQJ4d

Hi, nice video. Can I use single arduino nano board to control two led strips? Or need two nano?
@paulb36utube

Would it work in other games such as FPSs or a flight sim. If it worked on a white windows box then …..
@ThirdWheelExclusive

As long as you have sim hub open it works on anything that is on the screen. I use the same software for my FPS games just for ambiance

@@ThirdWheelExclusive that’s so cool. Was considering a hue setup like mentioned but have the required parts you mentioned (but not the number of leds mentioned) so I’m gonna give it a try. So glad this popped up on my feed.

@@paulb36utube I went way overkill so I would have good GoPro lighting. You can also run Govee or hue bars with the diy setup. I am now up to 900 LEDs and 4 govee bars
