The host continues to talk about women being less than men. This is the second show I have seen so far. Do you have a problem with men ? Do women have a responsibility as well for portrayal.
Awesome informative interview. I keep looking at this interview and taking notes to do more research. We have such a rich creative history and culture. The stories are there to be told. Thank you Etienne Charles, Atillah and your team. I look forward to all the other interviews to come. Thank you all again.
These interviews are such treasures for the Trinbago soul. Congrats Atillah ! Brother Resistance, having been a QRC alumnus, is especially dear to my heart.
Sister I love your show it the first time am seeing you but you are interviewing one of my favorite calyposonion ..I like weh the man with the hammer gone..we love calypso and soca very much here in Jamaica 🇯🇲
I hope Wendell Manwarren realizes that "Rajin" is an updated version. Adesh Samaroo version is an updated version of a classical number by the Ustad Haniff Mohammed (1933-2006). The origami song is from the album Best of Haniff (1978).
Carnival is Freedom! You couldn’t have said it better Destra. The way you described how it makes you feel - the excitement and the freedom, is exactly the way I have always felt about Carnival since I was a child. It’s an embodiment of everything that is our Trini people, and all aspects of it - the music, the pan, the parties, the wining in the middle of the street and the costumes (skimpy or not) all play a part in the euphoria that is our Carnival. Those emotions come through in your Carnival music and that’s what I believe attracts so many who feel the same way. You are a great ambassador of T&T. Love you Destra.
Attillah, thank you for this lesson in History and Civics and Politics! I learned so much from this discussion. I’m going through the series now, and I’m really appreciating hearing from the elders.
Stellar presentation by both Atillah and Destra and great seeing and hearing Destra's range of knowledge. It takes us into the depth of who she is beyond the public performance which gives only what is staged. Will have my class look at it next week.
“With the ears!” 😂😂😂 Destra, thank you for this and all of the beautiful nuggets of what Carnival was. My fave part of the parade was also up Fred Street, coming across Park and culminating with the bottle neck on Charlotte St and the POSGH. Well done, Tillahji
Soul-touching to see and hear my brother Wendell here on You Tube. Thanks to our sister Tilla for this fantastic series. [Listening in from Arad - România]
Very wonderful exchange. The interviewer is well prepared and knowlegeable..the importance of which is often overlooked. The Honourable David Rudder is masterful as ever. He enjoyed this interview ! But he earned the whole bowl of Starch mangoes oui
I also want to share something my mother said. We complaint about men so much yet still it is WE, WOMAN who bring them up. So change it. My mother did. I did not clean a house until I was in my late teens. My brothers did that. They were responsible for looking after us gurls, they are excellent cooks, clean house, shop for curtain and look after children. Most of all respect for women. My brother's works hard but still cook and clean at home. So WOMEN it up to us to make a change.
Love this episode, and there is the topic of finding balance as men and women with equality. It is very dear to my heart. Women have been denied so long that how we deal men now is with respect and empathy. Balance need to be achieved.
