I've built countless ARs. Never staked a single one and never had an issue with any of them coming lose. Just tighten it up as far as it will go and you're good. Didn't even know what staking was until i bought a PSA and the castle nut wouldn't come off even with a castle nut wrench. Had to take it to a gun smith. Ridiculous.
DANG that’s a slick looking BRN22 build! Will you make a video going over this particular build, or have you already done that? I want to start collecting parts to build my own fully custom 22 rifle for steel challenge competitions and general fun plinking. Great content as always, much love from Texas.
The best way to improve the Ruger is to make the stocks comb height HIGHER !!!with a good Optic/scope fitted the eye line is way too low needing some considerable elevation. SO, go to it Ruger & present a proper stock.!
I have had a stock 10/22 for nearly 30 years and I have never done anything but shoot it and clean it. What does these buffers do for us? I don't shoot my 10/22 as much as the centerfire stuff, but I should it is much cheaper...
Quiets it down. For those of us shooting it with a suppressor, the sound of the bolt smacking into the metal bolt stop is loud. So it calms that down a bit and softens the action cycling.
Not to denigrate the product - it's probably made of some kind of gee-whiz-bang space age material - but visually, it looks like you could use a length of automotive brake line or small engine gas line. That said, I'm sure it's a fine product.😊
I've met people that knew something about guns and has said they know how to build ar15's but have never done it. If they say they have they bought a complete upper and lower and mated them together and called it " A build". Changed the furniture to magpul and put a red dot and it was " Customized ". Put a novelty ejection port on it and called it " one of a kind". Then I asked them what brand of AR do they have and its a " M16 it's got a full auto bcg" Im glad to know that thier are soo many gunsmiths that know what they are doing. Which reminds me about the guy I met that had a " milled" receiver Ak47, but had rivets all over it. So I asked him who told him it was a " milled " receiver. Quote "ITS A MILLED RECEIVER BECUASE I BOUGHT IT AND I KNOW WHAT I BOUGHT "
AFT would consider a block of aluminum a machine gun, since it could be made into a lower receiver. That's the road we're headed down if their authority isn't brought into check. If our own "representatives " in Congress won't do it then it's up to us, The People. Lightning Links and Auto Key cards are perfectly legal under the 2A. Free CRS Firearms! Free the guy in NY arrested and imprisoned for making his own firearms. It's all Constitutionally protected activity, IDGAF what the Supreme Court or some other idiot says.
M16’s are weapons that don’t perform well when dirty. Whether it be mud, sand, dirt, debris and most importantly carbon build up from shooting many rounds. AK’s utilize a different system than the M16’s and don’t require a forward assist. They’re open bolt which has proven it’s worth under messy conditions. For me, it’s 2nd nature to quickly hit a forward assist after firing so many rounds in the field. Mainly due to carbon build up which is why I believe we have it in the military. The quote, “It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.” is one we stuck to in the Marines.
Excellent video Caleb. Wonderful to see a young man working with his hand keeping a dying breed alive. I used to use the acra glass then switched to Micro bed for years until I could no longer get it. Bought some new toys and might have to try the gel.
most importantly wd40 IS NOT A LUBRICANT everyone thinks that's what it is... is basically like a solvant for cleaning not lube I see ppl online all the time dudes or something pretending to be a dude acting like they kno some shit🙄
You NAILED it! That’s exactly what I teach in my classes. Can’t wait for the next video. I appendix carry always and use a Dark Star holster so I can remove holster and gun at the same time. That extra layer of safety makes a huge difference by avoiding administrative handling.
I just ordered the BRN 350 upper…I have had trouble with feeding in a generic 350 upper in the past, maybe I will alter the feed ramps and try it again after reading this…anyway I like the round a lot for woods whitetails…it works great out of my Ruger Ranch rifle…looking forward to the BRN 350 in the woods this Fall…
Man these videos are nestalgic for me. I used to watch these and Larry Potterfield with my Dad before he passed away. Also the smell of hoppes and truck coffee takes me straight to deer camp.
