It’s not a sport, it’s a competitive hobby. As Jerry Hsu said in the Skate. game extras, there’s so much you can add to it, in baseball , it’s just you hit the ball, but in skating you can do pretty much whatever you want. I also agree with Tommy here, it’s a lifestyle, not only a hobby. Cause most pro and non-pro skaters dedicate their whole lives to it
Bmx is even worse. Everyone knows which way geometry should go, except the manufacture who homogenizes the product. Finally rear ends are getting shorter, front ends are getting longer, and fork offset is less. But now every frame has a steep 75.5° head angle so goodbye teeth. Two unicycles tied together with shoe string would suit the average ride better.
Never heard nothing so true as to when they were talking about being old in skating until this. Dude I was 22 in '93 and was like dude...I'm way too old for this, all I'm gonna do is film from here on out... and was pretty good
I gotta say that high end downhill boards have had so many options and the board construction is years ahead of traditional skateboards it’s standard at this point to have carbon fiber and urethane rails integrated into the decks the boards literally last a lifetime for the most part
He should had elaborated on the rails!!! And where and why he placed them where he did!! Ive never used them but i bought 2 slightly different sets for a 9" My 9" deck is wider on the nose so i figured id place them parallel and even rather than to follow the edge and be crooked.
Well, 8 months later after my last comment, after a session not using protection I took a slam i was hospitalised and needed surgery, it's possible I may not recover yp what i was wear fkn protection
More Wheelbases under 14 - we are not all 6 foot or 2meters of height - and especially for thunders/ventures riders would be soooo nice. That´s is going to be a trend ..for streetskating ;)
Hot take - I get what Kelly is saying about Gino having a touch of sketchiness, but that it actually compliments the way he skates. That guy's style is so deliberate that sometimes it looks like the board just can't keep up, even if he didn't do anything apparently wrong in his technique. Those little touches of "sketchiness" look more like the *board* f*cked up than they look like Gino did anything wrong. That's how powerful the dude's steez is. If he has to tic-tac, the board apologizes to *him* afterwards lol
what about double drilling on every side of the deck? so you could choose inbetween wheelbases. ok, another step of manufacturing means more costs, but just an idea
