Peter Smolik was so ahead of the times , was crazy for that era

100%. He never really got his due respect for that. Ahead of the curb at least 10 years.

The Osiris Storm mixtape was fuckin awesome. Had a remix of Eminem - Just Don’t Give A Fuck years before he popped on MTV

I don't remember the mixtape having an Eminem remix on it (you can actually still listen to the mixtape online). But I remember first hearing Just Don't Give a Fuck in 411 30. It was from the Slim Shady EP before the LP version that most are familiar with.

I feel like there was also a hint of jealousy from the rest of the industry towards just how big Osiris was at the time.

That’s the vibe I’m kinda picking up here.

I think so. Osiris seemed to go against what was the cool thing at the time. That for sure made other companies jealous of it.

When The Storm dropped, everybody I knew in the Midwest wanted to skate like those dudes. Smolik was a legend to everyone.

People forget Osiris was one of the only companies dropping shoes for 40-45 bucks at the time.

For us in so cal (inland empire) at that time in high school, Osiris literally changed the way skaters dressed almost overnight. All of the sudden all I saw was Osiris. I know maybe in the industry DC might have still been larger, but in the trenches of all the skaters at school, it was almost all Osiris. I’d say DVS was second. So it’s actually kind of mind blowing for me to hear the insider side of things, because for us local skaters, Osiris was the top of the top. And the Storm was up there too with Fulfill the Dream and Welcome to hell in rotation for pre-skate inspiration. But then that all changed when the piss drunx Baker thing started. Then it was like the opposite vibe

yeah Fulfill the Dream and The Storm made us want to be fresh, but Baker 2G and Misled Youth made us want to be hesh

@@filmbuff4How many lives where ruined via Kid's seeing the Piss Drunx and wanting to copy the lifestyle which for an impressionable teenager could lead to the path of bigger problems such as Drug abuse and Alcoholism

Can't forget adios. And circa and emerica when the Reynolds one first came out . Ao fucking sick I had all of em been skating since 96 and have seen so many shoes come and go and the watched the style changing from bulky shoes to slip ons or. Very basic. And plain shoes

The industry looked down on Osiris because they had transcended beyond skateboarding and had non-skaters wearing their gear (aka getting more money)

Funny thing about the first D3's looking indestructible, there was a later model called the D3 NTX that looked like it would fall apart after 5 ollies 😂

Were you on that tour stop in Dallas when the team skated that secret rooftop in Downtown Dallas? I remember Coyne and Dobstaff throwing down some hammers there. I was hurt but my brother skated with you guys and I think he's the one that got Coyne to think about that huge Fronstside flip down that huge 1 block.

Man I loved Osiris when I was young. I was only 10 years old in 2000 but of course then went through like a DC phase. But nothing could ever compare to the Kenny Anderson Adio’s back in the day.
