18:07, for each of the Talismans entering the battlefield, they would have triggered your Fleshraker. Everyone would have taken 4 dmg for both talismans entering the field. I believe 🤔
What I like is that it’s a true reflection of what I perceive most games to be like. Occasionally mistakes are made with new cards and decks, but it’s more about the time spent with friends. I’m not suggesting that optimal and correct plays shouldn’t be aspired to, just that in the grand scheme for non CEDH games it’s shouldn’t be too much of an issue as long as fun is had. Also a cautionary tale of ‘popping off’ too quickly and having a whole table turn on you. See you at MCAmsterdam
Thanks for the comment! We loved it! Reading this is one of those 'this person gets it' moments. We are trying to keep a game as close to what a game actually is as possible, so it's more like throwing down cards with your friends on the kitchen table, rather than feeling very produced. Mistakes were made but fun was had! See you in Amsterdam!
Per article 106.1a and b there are 5 colors of mana and 6 types of mana. Since arcane signet add a color of mana, it would not be able to add colorless as colorless is not a color of mana only a type of mana. However, this doesn’t affect the gameplay at all as he could have just tapped differently. Good to remember for the future though
I couldnt quite see, but it looked like there were a few shenanigans at the end there. The merchant scrolls cant get sorceries, so the infinite mana couldnt be set up. But also, it looked like he was tapped out, (im guessing there were still treasure tokens?), because otherwise he wouldnt be able to pay for the turnabout to untap the lands to start with. That being said, i think he was the most likely to win from turn 1 with the Leyline + Mystic Remora on the field, i was feeling he should have been the archenemy of the table up until the Veyran+Krark combo got set up.
Color identity is defined by the mana symbols on the commander card. Even though Ulalek has devoid making it a colorless card, the WUBRG symbols on the will allow it to tap for any COLOR of mana. It will not, however be able to tap for colorless, or in this case “waste” since that is not actually a color.
At 18:16 when you played both your talismens they are colorless spells which would infact trigger both your fleshrackers making another 8 spawns and dealing another 16 damage since ulaleks ability is active
I know the T1 sol ring and arcane helped a ton, but the power level in these precons is vastly different. However, great content as usual, guys. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Nice game , Eldrazi for the win ;) 1. Arcane Signet CANNOT tap for colorless - i would love to see where did You read it can, it would good idea to fix it. 2. Glaring Fleshraker trigger for casting ANY colorless spells... talizmans too... So generaly Eldrazi shoud have extra 4 Spawns, and deals extra 8 dmg. (on top of that on one point at start of the game, Eldrazi playd did only 6 dmg. to all players, and he shoud do 8 dmg. - he forgot to count the Spawn he did sacrifice for copy ability). So it shoud be 10 extra dmg. to all players, and extra 4 "mana" open. That would change a lot (for example, he could "STOP" two biggest Goyfs from attack, or more imponret with untap ability of Endbringer hecould do extra 6 dmg. and kill one of the players). That for sure will allow him to not loose all board, and untap for the win. 3. Hideous Taskmaster have HASTE tooo... It would be extra two 7/2 with anibihlate 1 that could attack... That means Goyf shoud be dead too.
Yeah I think I probably had the win on board if I had done all of my triggers and read my cards!! That’s the beauty of commander though and it’s always hard with new decks haha
Seeing as these are precons, and this isn't Neon Dynasty, I'm sure WOTC wouldn't make a mistake determining what cards could go in the deck (regarding Arcane Signet in the Eldrazi deck)
I dont know for sure but i think you only get three mana from urza's tower if you control your commander because if it is not on the battlefield, then the everything counter doesn´t mean anything (because it is your commander that gives the counter its meaning). So Christian shouldn't have been able to make 39 mana
Well spotted! This is always the risk with new cards and new effects! I think even otherwise he would have been able to make a big play so it is what it is haha
No, Arcane Signet CAN NOT produce colorless to activate Ulalek's ability, which needs specifically 2 colorless. It clearly says "one mana of any COLOR", colorless is not a color.
Wow, I got that one wrong! Thanks for pointing it out, we didn't even see that when editing. I played the commander straight out the box so it was my first experience with the deck, hopefully you still enjoyed the episode. These things can happen.
I was thinking about this but looking back I'm not sure if it was random as Wally was actually politicking quite well and successfully got Matt to direct some of the damage towards Ant instead. But yeah he should've just made sure Wally was out the game as would've been easier for all of us and he'd have still been alive!
The everything counters would not have done anything so the tower would not have produced the 3 mana would have been 8 like the others plus to cast the original copy spell would have had to used another of the lands as at that point only producing 2 each.

Arcane Signet CANNOT produce Colorless mana. There are no sources that say that it can. "We looked it up" would of resulted in zero misunderstanding on this. Colorless means no color its literally the name of the type of mana
Yeah so the source that we googled was specifically referring to an un card that makes this possible. So bad info. As it happens, Wally had the mana to make that play anyway so no harm done!
Great video guys, loved seeing crazy eldrazi action and the big mill goyfs crack back was well fun to watch, shame there's not a ton of them in there :)
The Simic player should have casted his commander before casting Drown in Dreams, then he could’ve chosen both effects to deck out the Eldrazi player, treat eliminated!
Yes, realized this afterwards! To be honest, I only saw the mill line after it became my turn. A misplay I'd not make in the future! What happened was a ton of fun though, so no regrets! Hope you still enjoyed the episode!
The arcane ring thing on Ulalek: Ulalek has all colors in it's identity so arcane ring does generate mana of any color. But arcane ring can't produce colorless mana, so it can't be used to activate Ulalek's trigger. It wasn't a major error because Wally had others colorless sources but it was a mistake nonetheless. Ant was correct.
There where more mistakes later with this , and with the copy stuff (for example one time it shoud deal 8 dmg. not 6 dmg, - and he could even have 10 dmg. and have extra Spawn in game) - Ulalek is a little complicated commander ;)
During the Attack at 33:33 how was the life gain at 18 points as the two attacking creature both didn't hasve lifelink? and Barrowgoyf would have gained at most 8 if all card types are in the graveyard that are in the precons (I believe battle is not included in any deck) Barrowgoyf Creature - Lhurgoyf Deathtouch, lifelink Barrowgoyf's power is equal to the number of card types among cards in all graveyards and its toughness is equal to that number plus 1. Whenever Barrowgoyf deals combat damage to a player, you may mill that many cards. If you do, you may put a creature card from among them into your hand.
Good game overall. Perhaps playing pre con battles minus a sol ring start would be better 🤔 it'd be better to see how these pre con decks perform out of the box against one another and this one was basically seeing how the three decks perform against eldrazi with a head start. Could easily shuffle the sol ring in and draw a new card if it's in the starting hand. Just a thought, good game nonetheless.
That's a really interesting idea. As a channel we tend to lean towards letting a game play as naturally as possible as we like that kind of vibe. A lot of channels do 'fix' hands a little but we tend to it run. The game was still super fun and as we all had to work together it created an interesting situation. Thanks for the comment, appreciate it!
@TheChadMagic Dont change the way yous do it. Keeping it as natural as possible is not only relateable but it showcases decks at their best and worst. Keep it up! And if you get a busted turn 1 hand then own it 🔥
@@Ruined_Vigil again I am referring specifically to precon battles. We all know a turn 1 sol ring is possible. yay for variance. It'd be a better showcasing of the pre cons ability to do stuff against the others at a normal game pace. Commander out a turn early because of a mana rock or land ramp? kool. a 5 mana commander on turn 2? it can happen of course but not often enough to gauge what the deck is and can do based on the results. i don't think this is an unreasonable thing to adjust for and it doesn't hamper the game in any way. further, this is something that can be done behind the scenes so we won't know about any adjustments in the first place.
I think these are all fair points and I guess there is a certain level of behind-the-scenes fixing in that we allow unlimited mulligans (but after your first mulligan you are not allowed to have sol ring). I took 2 mulligans and kept the had with signet and a few lands It’s a tough one because I top decked that sol ring on T1 and that’s super hard to legislate for
Love the game so far! Been so excited to see you guys play these decks! Not to be one of "those" guys, but Scryfall lists Arcane Signet as only being able to product 5 colours - "If your commander is a card that has no colors in its color identity, Arcane Signet's ability produces no mana. It doesn't produce {C}" as colourless isn't a colour, but like Wally said, he could have tapped differently anyway and still would have been able to make the same play, so it doesn't really matter!
Oops yes you are right! The page that I found on Google was actually discussing a silver bordered card that made colourless into a colour haha! Either way, nothing lost
I was going to say I just looked on Google and found nowhere does it say you can tap arcane signet for colorless it actually says the exact opposite so I don't know where they are getting your information from but it's wrong
Honestly, we really don't know - We are likely the wrong people to ask on the financials of holding product as we both love cracking the packs too much!
