Join me as I learn and grow as an artist painting and creating at my kitchen counter. I share detailed, how-to videos of me making art, collaging and using mixed media to make abstract art.
Lend 1. grant to (someone) the use of (something) on the understanding that it shall be returned. In most places that have the neighborhood lending libraries the books are meant to be returned for others to enjoy reading and looking through.
Wow. This is probably the coolest video I've seen in a long time. So much talent in one home! Thank you both for sharing your thoughts and ideas and giving us so much inspiration!
What a treat your video! Full of information. I love words too. I have listened to the link twice which is so cool! This abacadabra of words is truly a delight to create. Thank you so much for sharing all the links and background information. Beautiful words and cards. Subscribed!
Oh and I sense you gonna love the Voyager Tarot Deck from James Wainless. He is still alive and I joined 2 workshops by him. It was so positive, inspirational and fun!
I don't think I'd take a book from the Little Lending Library or a book that is in good shape to be bought to be read. I would tend to get books that were going to be thrown away or perhaps text books that are outdated.
For even more transparent collage pieces try medical Exam paper (cheap). Transfer , print whateve you desire, spray with water and affix with gel medium (or my beloved liquid starch). This med exam paper is almost wet strength tissue paper. Enjoy!
Really like the etchings and how you mix them into your collages! I recently bought a few pan pastels so I plan to experiment with those and maybe try them with stencils.
I don't think it's about knowing what to do or how to create a good painting. I think it's more about knowing how to resolve a problem, which might create another problem. And you know you're done when you don't need to resolve anything. I haven't gotten there yet.
I am so happy to tell u that i have always enjoyed your videos and recently I especially enjoy traveling to bookstores or the back yard. You r articulate. My favorite abstract artist and are very kind and generous with process and information. Thank you
Hi, I would love to see a video of you creating one of those large mark making sketchbook. Love watching you create your colorful abstract works! Keep going love😊
Hi @betsybuik4260 - I use a non toxic fixative spray on chalks or any materials that bleed, smear or might be reactivated by water. Here’s the link to the spray -> amzn.to/3W2Hydj
Hi! I'll offer 2 things. #1. Sometimes I swear you have zero focus and direction when starting your paintings and continues right till the end. You are like a messy child who is enjoying what she is doing. There is no plan until that magic moment when I can see that you are near the end and you then have an Aha! moment and then you complete your painting with purpose. #2. Your method works for you and I see you are enjoying the process. Bravo. Someone pointed out that a master painter fails more than a beginner ever tries. Thank you for being genuine and fearless in your works. I can learn from you to open up and fearlessly experiment. Thank you.
I honestly didn't realize anyone else collected words--I thought it was just me! Putting your words onto painted cards is a great idea--thanks for sharing your process.
@@KitchenCounterAbstract I also love tarot cards and lennormand cards, so I did use some minimal symbolism ( like the chariot or the high priestess) and a loose, abstract background. But the main difference is, that I used various quotes instead of single words, which is also a wonderful approach, thank you for that idea! My inspiration were the cards by an American woman, I once saw in a bookstore, she is a motivational speaker or something and I only remember her last name, I think it’s Bernstein. Her cards are called spirit junkie or something like that. Have a great week 🎨
I enjoyed every bit of this video thank you. I like how you say "advanced colours" So many refer to the beautiful neutrals and grays that can be mixed as "mud". Advanced colour sounds so much better 🙂
You are, as always, very inspirering and then I also looove your visual way of expressing yourself! I have now been listening to the mp3 session and this “My Universe” is VERY inspirering, and I start on it right now, since I’m fired up!! 🤩🥳🎉
Yet another amazingly satisfying video to watch. I will have to google the book Magus. Your soup sounds interesting. Your friends Lake house looks beautiful. Doing art on the patio over looking the lake is the perfect place to be doing art. I like that your art is uniquely you, you have a way with beautiful colors, textures and shapes and your piant slick and shiny on your substriate is terrific. Along with ASMR and great soothing music. Your video was a early evening treat for me and a little step away from working on my art journal. Have a great week-end !
