There was already a successful de-extinction in the form of the Judean date palm via germination of 2000-year-old seeds found in the ruins of Herod the Great's palace. However, it did not gain much attention like the current plans to revive the woolly mammoth, dodo, and passenger pigeon or save the northern white rhinoceros from extinction through IVF.

Hi @daralexen thanks for leaving comments! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. That is certainly fascinating, I have not heard about the revival of the Judean date palm. That is certainly an interesting premise to explore as well, though I do agree that media frenzy is needed and a species like the Woolly Mammoth will bring the crowd. Once the name and process are out there, only then can we raise awareness regarding other flora and fauna species. Anyways, hopefully you have a lovely rest of the year, Stay safe, stay hydrated and take care

I've been there too. played most of the day, lied to my coworkers and friends when I was late and didnt come at all, cause I was playing League, didnt notice the hours going by until I heard the birds outside and thought "damn, well it doesn't matter now, does it? might as well play a few more" ... and the most important part: at least 70% of the time I hated every second of it. I didnt enjoy myself at all, when I won I felt relieve, but also anxiety towards the next game, since I might lose again, I was stuck between trying really hard and not trying at all, either way hating the game, the other players and mostly myself - and yet I couldnt stop. so I quit for real that time, like 13 months ago. today I am here cause I watched some old magickarpusedfly videos and got that brainworm active again, thought it might be fun and I could take it more casually, but thank god I remembered what I learned more than a year ago and I just didnt do it. videos like these actually helped me too. in the meantime I began skateboarding and if I compare the two: skateboarding is almost as addictive, I think about it every day, I watch videos about it, I spent money on it and sometimes my physical health does take a blow, so there are many aspects about it, that could relate to playing league. but the big differences are: it is always fun, it brings people together in a positive way, it also is a fantastic workout by the way, my progress is entirely dependent on me and noone else, others might help me, but noone can disrupt me, it's fun even when I'm not making tangeable progress and most importantly: it is always so much fun! unlike league, which was a constant source of misery in my life no matter what else was going on, skateboarding is a constant source of joy and self esteem, independant of what else is going on in my life. I do recommend it.

I remember having restless nights and waking up early BEFORE school just so I could grind out one more Olaf game. I remember passing out in Krugs bush top before Krugs were even a thing. I was playing Veigar, passed out in the bush, woke up for a split second, one shot someone walking into the bush, and went back to sleep. I don't remember the end of that game, but I do remember the ridiculousness feeling. I've since removed myself from the Rift after reasoning to myself "I don't have the hardware or personal skill to grind this game, and teammates are too rng." What I really loved from league was playing ADCs, they're currently homeless after getting kicked out of botlane by mage/fighter/assassin duos. I liked the micro and being able to click on so many places with such precision. I've since moved back to my childhood game of Bloons Tower Defense Battles. At least when I lose in Battles, I feel like it was all my fault, and that's really helped my mental.

I struggled with quitting this game for years, the first step that got me off of it was having my account DELETED. After a year I unfortunately created a new account and got it to where I could play ranked again, however after playing it for a month the level of toxicity made me question if it was really worth it go through trying to deal with ragers, feeders etc in my team and the answer was no and uninstalled. If I ever get the urge to play I'll watch a video from Cardrel on RU-vid to see what's up with proplay and then move along with my day. I try not to look back at all the hours I wasted playing that I could have been building something since I can't change the past, but better quit late than never, right?

I thought you will say this but there is another reason that league is so addictive besides the dopamine rush and the desire to climb up the ranks, league with its customization and the way you control a character you choose with other people that choose their characters out of 160+ characters and also the way every single game is different with a different experience each game makes this like a second life that each person is living through playing the game it's not like a fighting game which is 4 mins of fighting another player and you leave it's 35 minutes with 10 other people that you all interact together with your own persona in the game to work together to see who is going to win, making this game a life of its own and this is the reason it's almost impossible to quit league completely, it becomes a part of you as it becomes your life.

I did install it again and I get tired and exhausted after one game and even have to force my self to play more rounds so I can climb one Elo higher. I play every day a couple of games and after 3,4 days I don’t want to anymore and play again in a month. Idk how I developed myself to this stage but it’s strange

No seriously , people joke about it but league is absolutely HORRIBLE for your life . I just need you to realize that your rank , performance etc does NOTHING for you in life but impress the other losers who play with you. Not losers because of who they are or what they do. But losers because of how every functional person in society will see them and you once you leave your room.

i play the game now and i don't think im addicted anymore cuz im focusing on basketball fr, but i wish i didnt spend so much of my time playing it when i was younger. i play it since i was 9, now im turning 17 and i wish i had actually spent most of that time hooping. with the amount of hours i have in league, if i spent just like 50% of that trying to get better i might have actually went d1. im getting better now and trying to improve every day but that lost time will never come back man, ill probably just turn 18 and have to abandon the sport. i dont regret playing league at all, im having fun with it nowadays, i made a lot of friends and got lots of life experience talking to people i met cause of it, but nowadays i cant really play more than 2-3 games without getting really fucking tired of the game, winning or losin, so i wish i spent that time working on something that would actually translate to my life

It makes me sad and happy that I’m not alone with this feeling and realization for this game. I love the lore, the characters, the music, the company, and everything about this game. I truly was addicted. And I’m thankful that my last real run with the game ended after I graduated and no longer had a team to play with competitively. Pro league and solo que are two different games and once I lost one the other never felt good. Solo que is no longer fun. I play aram and a normal from time to time but I’m grateful I’m not playing as much as I was. This game and everything it has given me will forever be a part of me and never forget the good times I had just myself and my friends.

When it became too competitive, i quit ranked all together and only played casual games, but it wasn't any different, then the Irelia rework came and i just uninstalled and never looked back, best decision ever

The thing is, I genuinely enjoy the game. Player toxicity doesn't affect me because I'm perma mute all However, the thing that got me was the climb (or lack thereof). Even telling myself I only want to net +1 win for the day, if game 1 is a loss, I now need to win 2 to get +1. And if after 13 games I'm still negative, then the next day would have to make up for it The end of ranked season was my annual reality check to chill the f out. i have 2 friends who are addicted to the game, they play it all day long. i ask them please can we play something else? some apex legends, some cs:go, some valorant. NOPE, THEY STILL GO SOLO PLAYING LOL! I'm a gold player and i barely got any time to play during the year, especially after the vanguard introduction that is another system restore pain. i focus on college most of time and i arrive home tired. my friends skip courses and some other classes and play lol instead. after 10-14h of college i arrive home and if i still got energy i play a match or two, followed by sleep. i went to a summer school recently, all this time friends played lol. the saddest and most frustrating thing is that friends don't play anything with me ever! they refuse to play flex and say that rank doesn't matter, we're not eligible to play with each other in solo/duo(gold, emerald and master player). i wanted to play some dark and darker, some old Narnia game, some starcraft, age of empires 2, some minecraft, terraria, or even roblox. asked one of my friends to buy dead island 2 to play, said i'll pay for it just to have someone to play with, but no luck. HE STILL GOES AND PLAYS LEAGUE OF LEGENDS! all the time i can spend with him is by watching him stream his game on discord. he even refuses to go outside. both friends say it's a waste of time to have fun or to go outside. why? just why? they used to play with me while i was in school, but now they refuse to play with me unless i reach diamond league to play lol with them. i'm not a skilled player by any means, on the contrary even, every player in a match begs me to uninstall and play something else, as i'm so bad at the game that i can't even farm(miss 4/6 minions/wave and every single cannon). dodging skillshots seem to be impossible, i can't get used to looking at minimap, i have no gamesense and i always lose my lane no matter what i play. i'm in summer vacation now and i got time to play(i usually play lol and valorant(can't play due to anticheat) during this time), but how can i get even keep up with my friends when i barely played 3 matches of lol a week when my friends played about 15 matches a day every day? so what should I do? getting new friends seems to be very hard, as people got lives, relationships, they go in holidays, they go work etc. I'm not interested in any of these, i don't find parties, drinks and smoke and drugs fun, they seem like a health risk i'm not willing to take. parents tell me to relax and have fun, but how do I do that?

Hi, I went through all of your comment and it is quite sad to hear your friends don't want to play other games with you or just spend time outside games. Despite being a league addict myself I always give priority to my friends and play the games THEY want to play, they do the same for me. People who are not willing to try or change are a waste of time unfortunately. Please consider talking to them or simply talk to them less. Friends come and go so don't worry about trying to find them. Best of luck to you ;)

As someone who's been on the fence with quitting this game for a long time I think it's finally time. Between Vanguard and all of the other issues I've been having recently I've come to the conclusion that I'm just better off without it. This game brings the worst out of me, and I have fun maybe 1 in 4 games. No matter how well I think I can play some variable can always come in to strike me down, make me unable to even go to a lane and farm safely, let alone win the game. It's just not worth it anymore.

this League retrospective, as many do, reminds me of my experience of playing DotA2 on release. I think this will be comparable to LoL's early days, too, although I didn't play the game during it's "golden age" of seasons 1-7. when DotA2 (beta) released, there was no ranked ladder. you'd just queue up in a lobby and play the game. you didn't play for rank, you played the game of MOBA for what it's supposed to be - destroy the enemy base. and, as i'm sure is the case for old league, the game was much less team-reliant, as in 1v5, or even 1v9s were much easier to accomplish, due to the game's core gameplay mechanics not yet having been balanced around teamplay. instead of ranked ladders, your winrate would be the sole thing to matter. if u had i recon 65%+ winrate on your account, you were a good player. so people just played to win, not to get some rank. this also means they weren't aftaid to lose, each game would last till completion. of course some ppl abandoned or went afk, but still. people tried their best until the very end. now i play both, and in both i notice the rising sentiment of ff15, we lost on draft, "dog team" in allchat, etc. the sad state of MOBAs

Hey there thanks for leaving a comment. I'd say so, the sentiment nowadays is that games like League or Dota or CS have been known to have quite a harsh fan base/community and some would even say one of the most toxic community online. I'd just wish there was a way to moderate the games to somehow replicate the pro e-sports scene where toxic behaviour is not permitted. Maybe this is not a great idea but I'm not sure how else we could "fix" the community. Anyways, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. All the best, Vander

The thing is for me i used league more as an excape of bad personal life. I moved regarding a job offer to a different country but because i played from season 4 to season 9 at some days i was thinking about it. In season 13 i picked the game up again. I play now regularly but i dont play most of the time if my girlfriend is there. Been honest a lot of time the game isnt fun but in though times it helps to relieve the negativity. I think for other people the game destroyed way more of there life. At some points i played 20 games a day because of wanting to get better. And i lvl one new account while watching a series with 3v3 games. In the end i had a Sprained hand leveling an account in 7 days to lvl30. I tried some jobs back then but never a fit. Also the friends that you know for over 10 years are bringing you also back to the game. Some in master, some in grandmaster. Playing flex in diamond is fun. If you play solo that i did most time, is like a Constant battlefield. Im happy to made a 3 year break but sometimes life is getting taff and we need to distract ourselves

Hi there @oliverjamiesteven thanks for sharing your experience and story down here in the comments section. I just read quite a similar story just yesterday from another commenter sharing that they turned to league during a dark time in their lives. Honestly it is good to see this side of the story too. That League can sometimes be an aid to us as well. Though you have taken it to great lengths, playing at such a high level to the point of spraining your hand (maybe don't do it to this extent anymore), I think that you are right. Everyone deserves and needs some form of break from their day to day lives. If league is that answer for you, then I am glad it fills that part of your life. As long as there is balance, I think that is all that matters Thanks again for leaving a comment, all the best, Vander

I think for me at the moment I play it more casually. One thing I wouldn't do anymore. If you want to do something and instead we are playing a game. I ask the question first so I really want to? This question is important to handle an addicted state or to realize where are you at. I like card games, arcade fighting games. For now I think there will be always something to replace it. Maybe this is changing in my future.
@oliverjamiesteven

One thing I want to add. I think the only reason why I came back. Was to check what old friends did after 3 years. I had also on PS3 a lot of friends but after not playing Playstation for more than 10 years there are no connections left. I also see that addiction can destroy your life, specially if you repeating to queue up without breaks. If you leave friends, ignore family and don't have any income. You lose access to society. In most cases it can be every other game but mobas are more likely. If we don't talk about taff times over our emotions to friends and in the end accepting yourself. There is no light at the tunnel but I wish everyone to get help in this situations.

All I know is I can win 1 game of counter strike, and the equivalent of that feeling in league of legends is a 10 game win streak. Valorant that same way imo as well. Getting 2 frags holding site as ct, is the same feeling as getting 3 aces in a row while playing Valorant. That's just me, and the majority of the people I know that play counter strike though. It just rarely feels like I earn the win in League of Legends. It always just feels like enemy team suckks or dosen't know how to play that gets me a win and it's boring after awhile, but it's very addicting game design of getting rewarded on every last hit all game long. I feel the majority of people I'm in game with are just watching youtube and last hitting not caring about what's going on not paying attention and there is no voice comms so it's kinda just a shitty hostage feeling scenario most of the time as well.

League players aren't inherently toxic the lack of VC makes people want to grab others through the screen and choke them cause you/teammates can't communicate properly. In CS:GO even if your teammate was shit you would flame them, they would flame you back, maybe everyone would throw a slur here or their or someone would scream into their microphone, or everyone buys some weird gun and rush their spawn to go behind them and probably losing the play, but it would still be an enjoyable experience, in league you chat one "bad thing" with no bad words and every single person in the lobby reports you and you get muted for 2 weeks making you hate the game even more. Also what in the #14 burgerking foot lettuce is this video, it's boring and not engaging, at least crop some people smoking league from a crack pipe, the pacing is too slow the script sounds like you wrote most of it and then told chat-GPT to add to it. I can see you put in a lot of effort and I'm not discrediting you cause you did some good work, just hoping to give some constructive criticism. PS This video doubled my league addiction didn't give it to the next person.

Hey @robert7100 thanks for leaving a comment and sharing your thoughts. I suppose not having a VC can have both good and bad effects, but that frustration and the ease of lashing out to your team members or opposing team, is what makes it dubbed one of the most toxic communities out there. I wish there could be some way to moderate league as if regular people were playing on a stage setting, like similar how pros do it, we rarely see toxicity happen on the big stage, at least not as far as im aware. Also, I really appreciate your critique of the video. I will put that into account and see what I can do better on my next vid. All the best, Vander
@robert7100
@robert7100 Месяц назад
@@vanderexplains I'm glad my criticisms were of help to you. The thing about pros is they're basically obligated to not be toxic or do something that would hurt the reputation of their team which could potentially ruin a/multiple sponsorship deal(s) . It would cost a lost of money to have people monitoring games and realistically it's impossible to have every player be "regular people". On the big stage they might not outright be toxic but they do emote but I think there's settings so spectators don't see it when they're streaming a comp game. There was a case where someone hosted a tournament and emoticons weren't allowed and a team got disqualified because someone had an emote for first bloods cause they forgot to remove it before the game. Also the psychological effect of VC would surprise you, it might be harder for someone flame a teammate cause even if they're right someone or multiple people in the VC might call them out or console them for being toxic or just tell them to chill out, even the pressure of getting called out for being a douche is enough. Sometimes people die and they get mad but some deaths have value cause if someone just got 4 man ganked the people on the other side of the map can take advantage of that and take objectives or whatever it be. All you really need in a team is a decent shot caller and teammates that are willing to listen, they don't even have to be that much more skilled compared to whoever they're facing. Not that you need VC at all but who doesn't like quality of life changes. I'd rather have a bad player as a teammate than someone running it down, not helping with fights, taking your jungler's camps, a bad teammate can at least listen and be there for objectives and fights. Here's another criticism, if you want more security stay making videos in a specific niche, I get right now you might be experimenting cause I see you made different videos on varying topics, but when you find a niche you like stick to it and you'll slowly start getting more viewers from that community, surprisingly you can make a decent amount of money without getting 500k+ views per vid, if you find a small niche youtube will pay more cause not that many people are making videos for that niche so the profits are more free to spread around if you get what I'm saying.(I'm a little tired so I wasn't sure how to word it properly) :)

Yea it can be a really frightening thing. I myself who I would say have struggled with some form of addiction, have never gone to those lengths, so I just hope that people who struggle can find some form of support system. All the best Vander

It is honestly a great game, that constantly evolves, I wouldn't blame you for coming back. As long as you can find that balance between enjoying League as nothing more than a game and also still doing other important activities in your life, you should be set. All the best, Vander
