People who created league never thought about what kind of damage a 3 losing lanes game could do to someone
@vanderexplains

Yeah, that's also one of the things that can really mess with someone's mental. I have been on both ends of that situation, being the one losing lane or being the one trying to work with losing lanes. Not a great experience.

At 2009 they took me from my family to children's home, than my relatives adopted and saved me, because family issues, I played league for 10 years after I got to college and meet my friends, I uninstalled 2 weeks before from now, Im traumatized how I prioritized league to grind and get to the level of streamers and pro players, while I had childhood traumas and head injury at children's home, what I didnt even told them, I was constantly in head pain for like 8 years, and I always was clever, also my ancestors were high IQ, I just wanted to reach everything, playing guitar solos like van halen or guthrie govan, getting league high rank, getting a deegre, I also worked out and was going to job too sometimes from 6am to 6pm after I got job now from 5 years, I totally I buried myself in this game from reality, i could not even do my normal stuffs and irl responsibilities anymore, I didnt even go further with my own house renovation and etc., I never had girlfriend not even a kiss, and Im very social, and risky to get depression and suicidal things, because I know stuffs others dont from physcholy and physics and other stuff, im maniac thinker, thinking is a drog, I love to think on physics and stuff too, like programming, I had an own kernel written somewhere on github, may called exis osdev. Also while im studying IR / programming, theorical physics and other areas like phychology in the meanwhile, I had no idea what to do in my life, i never wanted to work with peoples in irl, because I was always bullied in school while I was a karmatic really clever good guy in school, and I had issues my family and brothers mentally because they ruined their life and other peoples hated them because they were Jews descended and smart, and im actually gifted in looks and IQ and i got traumas as a child, my parents were in trouble too in the 90s, my father was finished university with agrocultural engineer's deegre and he was an astrophysicist too for hobby. I born with high emotional intelligence, and League just made me actually almost pure psycho after all, I didnt even cared anything happen with me, even peoples trying to fk with me IRL, or when I know I procrastinate to do my irl responsibilities, I totally forgot almost about my friends and my other relatives and my local space and house, and started to do stupid things IRL, I stopped League for now, lets be honest im not clean mentally, Im totally in shame how I end up there because I have burden of proof and prove myself and others I can reach everything, and dont know how to continue my life, I wanted to go to University, im capable of doing anything actually at peek level because im gifted, at top 1%, I understand complex things, how the world works and so on and so on.

League is only life ruiningly addictive if you dont have much going on. It definitely is addictive though. Its a damn good game and thats why. Its managed to carve out a adrenaline filled balance of shitting on or getting shit on gameplay thats a mix of coinflip and personal skill. Its absolutely the best game ever made hands down and it will stay alive because its not just a game. Its an experience that you will never forget. You will go from loving this game, to absolutely fucking hating it. Thats what makes it so fun. Plus its really well polished for a f2p. So well polished that bugs arent a thing in that game. Riot really nailed it with this abomination and I love it.
@vanderexplains
@vanderexplains Месяц назад
You are right, the duality of experiences that League can provide, epitomises human nature itself and our desire to get better at something. The devs got it spot on, this mixing pot of fun and chaos bundled into a cycle of never-ending ladder climbs. League players will understand what a love-hate relationship truly is. However, i do want to stress that this game is affecting some of us in ways that are far more detrimental. As you rightly pointed out, one of the factors could be that League might be the "only" thing that matter in that person's world, but it shouldn't have to come to that, there are plenty more things we can do and that this world has to offer. I'm glad that you understand and share that view. I hope others can read your comment and feel the same. Loving the discussion, thanks again for leaving a comment and have a lovely day

League is literally CS:GO , you can go 20/0 in both games and still lose cause your team dies or doesnt know how to play around you or objectives (maybe not 0 deaths in CS:GO but you get the idea) or you can go 0/10 and still win cause you got carried or the enemy team was just so bad they didnt know how to play for win con,etc. and still lose your mind but that's not the games fault for someone tilting

this League retrospective, as many do, reminds me of my experience of playing DotA2 on release. I think this will be comparable to LoL's early days, too, although I didn't play the game during it's "golden age" of seasons 1-7. when DotA2 (beta) released, there was no ranked ladder. you'd just queue up in a lobby and play the game. you didn't play for rank, you played the game of MOBA for what it's supposed to be - destroy the enemy base. and, as i'm sure is the case for old league, the game was much less team-reliant, as in 1v5, or even 1v9s were much easier to accomplish, due to the game's core gameplay mechanics not yet having been balanced around teamplay. instead of ranked ladders, your winrate would be the sole thing to matter. if u had i recon 65%+ winrate on your account, you were a good player. so people just played to win, not to get some rank. this also means they weren't aftaid to lose, each game would last till completion. of course some ppl abandoned or went afk, but still. people tried their best until the very end. now i play both, and in both i notice the rising sentiment of ff15, we lost on draft, "dog team" in allchat, etc. the sad state of MOBAs

Hey there thanks for leaving a comment. I'd say so, the sentiment nowadays is that games like League or Dota or CS have been known to have quite a harsh fan base/community and some would even say one of the most toxic community online. I'd just wish there was a way to moderate the games to somehow replicate the pro e-sports scene where toxic behaviour is not permitted. Maybe this is not a great idea but I'm not sure how else we could "fix" the community. Anyways, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. All the best, Vander

Games like LoL and WoW are just as detrimental to your life and health as meth or cocaine. This problem is a ticking time bomb of modern society. There are a lot more people gaming than doing meth (although both is not uncommon with things like Adderall).
@vanderexplains
@vanderexplains 3 месяца назад
It can have similar effects. Addiction is addiction, and i do agree, in this modern society, where everything and everywhere seems like a rat race and a grind. Games or other outlets, can seem to be our only form of release, and without realising, they themselves become the problem. Thanks again for leaving a comment. I hope you have a lovely day, week, month and year ahead.

I remember having restless nights and waking up early BEFORE school just so I could grind out one more Olaf game. I remember passing out in Krugs bush top before Krugs were even a thing. I was playing Veigar, passed out in the bush, woke up for a split second, one shot someone walking into the bush, and went back to sleep. I don't remember the end of that game, but I do remember the ridiculousness feeling. I've since removed myself from the Rift after reasoning to myself "I don't have the hardware or personal skill to grind this game, and teammates are too rng." What I really loved from league was playing ADCs, they're currently homeless after getting kicked out of botlane by mage/fighter/assassin duos. I liked the micro and being able to click on so many places with such precision. I've since moved back to my childhood game of Bloons Tower Defense Battles. At least when I lose in Battles, I feel like it was all my fault, and that's really helped my mental.

Hope you are doing well! In this times you need someone to talk to. If you don't have someone that close you would have to try therapy. If you relate with the game an escape it's a bit taffer, even if you quit. You might see yourself watching clips on RU-vid, twitch or playing a different game. Try to spend every day time with yourself and without distraction. Don't miss your meals and try to do meditation. As older you get you will achieve things that every game reward cant provide. Try to accept yourself and value yourself, don't be to harsh on you and see that your problems are meaningful. Other people might have it harder but it doesn't make your suffering less valuable

Yeah it took me a while to realize this. At the beginning of the year I uninstalled because I finally realized that I was wasting 6+ hours a day on average on a game I wasnt even enjoying. A game I complain about constantly. A game I despise the monetization of. Seeing my 2023 stats say I was in the top 2% of playtime globally that year was a wake up call. It also helped that I wasnt going to install kernal level anti cheat that is now required. I enjoy the lore and memes, but cant play anymore.

All I know is I can win 1 game of counter strike, and the equivalent of that feeling in league of legends is a 10 game win streak. Valorant that same way imo as well. Getting 2 frags holding site as ct, is the same feeling as getting 3 aces in a row while playing Valorant. That's just me, and the majority of the people I know that play counter strike though. It just rarely feels like I earn the win in League of Legends. It always just feels like enemy team suckks or dosen't know how to play that gets me a win and it's boring after awhile, but it's very addicting game design of getting rewarded on every last hit all game long. I feel the majority of people I'm in game with are just watching youtube and last hitting not caring about what's going on not paying attention and there is no voice comms so it's kinda just a shitty hostage feeling scenario most of the time as well.

It makes me sad and happy that I’m not alone with this feeling and realization for this game. I love the lore, the characters, the music, the company, and everything about this game. I truly was addicted. And I’m thankful that my last real run with the game ended after I graduated and no longer had a team to play with competitively. Pro league and solo que are two different games and once I lost one the other never felt good. Solo que is no longer fun. I play aram and a normal from time to time but I’m grateful I’m not playing as much as I was. This game and everything it has given me will forever be a part of me and never forget the good times I had just myself and my friends.

The thing is for me i used league more as an excape of bad personal life. I moved regarding a job offer to a different country but because i played from season 4 to season 9 at some days i was thinking about it. In season 13 i picked the game up again. I play now regularly but i dont play most of the time if my girlfriend is there. Been honest a lot of time the game isnt fun but in though times it helps to relieve the negativity. I think for other people the game destroyed way more of there life. At some points i played 20 games a day because of wanting to get better. And i lvl one new account while watching a series with 3v3 games. In the end i had a Sprained hand leveling an account in 7 days to lvl30. I tried some jobs back then but never a fit. Also the friends that you know for over 10 years are bringing you also back to the game. Some in master, some in grandmaster. Playing flex in diamond is fun. If you play solo that i did most time, is like a Constant battlefield. Im happy to made a 3 year break but sometimes life is getting taff and we need to distract ourselves

Hi there @oliverjamiesteven thanks for sharing your experience and story down here in the comments section. I just read quite a similar story just yesterday from another commenter sharing that they turned to league during a dark time in their lives. Honestly it is good to see this side of the story too. That League can sometimes be an aid to us as well. Though you have taken it to great lengths, playing at such a high level to the point of spraining your hand (maybe don't do it to this extent anymore), I think that you are right. Everyone deserves and needs some form of break from their day to day lives. If league is that answer for you, then I am glad it fills that part of your life. As long as there is balance, I think that is all that matters Thanks again for leaving a comment, all the best, Vander

I think for me at the moment I play it more casually. One thing I wouldn't do anymore. If you want to do something and instead we are playing a game. I ask the question first so I really want to? This question is important to handle an addicted state or to realize where are you at. I like card games, arcade fighting games. For now I think there will be always something to replace it. Maybe this is changing in my future.
@oliverjamiesteven
@oliverjamiesteven Месяц назад
One thing I want to add. I think the only reason why I came back. Was to check what old friends did after 3 years. I had also on PS3 a lot of friends but after not playing Playstation for more than 10 years there are no connections left. I also see that addiction can destroy your life, specially if you repeating to queue up without breaks. If you leave friends, ignore family and don't have any income. You lose access to society. In most cases it can be every other game but mobas are more likely. If we don't talk about taff times over our emotions to friends and in the end accepting yourself. There is no light at the tunnel but I wish everyone to get help in this situations.

I struggled with quitting this game for years, the first step that got me off of it was having my account DELETED. After a year I unfortunately created a new account and got it to where I could play ranked again, however after playing it for a month the level of toxicity made me question if it was really worth it go through trying to deal with ragers, feeders etc in my team and the answer was no and uninstalled. If I ever get the urge to play I'll watch a video from Cardrel on RU-vid to see what's up with proplay and then move along with my day. I try not to look back at all the hours I wasted playing that I could have been building something since I can't change the past, but better quit late than never, right?

i have 2 friends who are addicted to the game, they play it all day long. i ask them please can we play something else? some apex legends, some cs:go, some valorant. NOPE, THEY STILL GO SOLO PLAYING LOL! I'm a gold player and i barely got any time to play during the year, especially after the vanguard introduction that is another system restore pain. i focus on college most of time and i arrive home tired. my friends skip courses and some other classes and play lol instead. after 10-14h of college i arrive home and if i still got energy i play a match or two, followed by sleep. i went to a summer school recently, all this time friends played lol. the saddest and most frustrating thing is that friends don't play anything with me ever! they refuse to play flex and say that rank doesn't matter, we're not eligible to play with each other in solo/duo(gold, emerald and master player). i wanted to play some dark and darker, some old Narnia game, some starcraft, age of empires 2, some minecraft, terraria, or even roblox. asked one of my friends to buy dead island 2 to play, said i'll pay for it just to have someone to play with, but no luck. HE STILL GOES AND PLAYS LEAGUE OF LEGENDS! all the time i can spend with him is by watching him stream his game on discord. he even refuses to go outside. both friends say it's a waste of time to have fun or to go outside. why? just why? they used to play with me while i was in school, but now they refuse to play with me unless i reach diamond league to play lol with them. i'm not a skilled player by any means, on the contrary even, every player in a match begs me to uninstall and play something else, as i'm so bad at the game that i can't even farm(miss 4/6 minions/wave and every single cannon). dodging skillshots seem to be impossible, i can't get used to looking at minimap, i have no gamesense and i always lose my lane no matter what i play. i'm in summer vacation now and i got time to play(i usually play lol and valorant(can't play due to anticheat) during this time), but how can i get even keep up with my friends when i barely played 3 matches of lol a week when my friends played about 15 matches a day every day? so what should I do? getting new friends seems to be very hard, as people got lives, relationships, they go in holidays, they go work etc. I'm not interested in any of these, i don't find parties, drinks and smoke and drugs fun, they seem like a health risk i'm not willing to take. parents tell me to relax and have fun, but how do I do that?

What a great and informative video. I was addicted to league for a long time until i decided to uninstall. It worked ! I did install it again and I get tired and exhausted after one game and even have to force my self to play more rounds so I can climb one Elo higher. I play every day a couple of games and after 3,4 days I don’t want to anymore and play again in a month. Idk how I developed myself to this stage but it’s strange

This is a very recent phenomenon that others have reasoned for League being dead or dying (still the #1 most played game worldwide). What should it be called? "Growing Out Of League Syndrome"? "League Intervention", "ELO Death"?

i play the game now and i don't think im addicted anymore cuz im focusing on basketball fr, but i wish i didnt spend so much of my time playing it when i was younger. i play it since i was 9, now im turning 17 and i wish i had actually spent most of that time hooping. with the amount of hours i have in league, if i spent just like 50% of that trying to get better i might have actually went d1. im getting better now and trying to improve every day but that lost time will never come back man, ill probably just turn 18 and have to abandon the sport. i dont regret playing league at all, im having fun with it nowadays, i made a lot of friends and got lots of life experience talking to people i met cause of it, but nowadays i cant really play more than 2-3 games without getting really fucking tired of the game, winning or losin, so i wish i spent that time working on something that would actually translate to my life

I thought you will say this but there is another reason that league is so addictive besides the dopamine rush and the desire to climb up the ranks, league with its customization and the way you control a character you choose with other people that choose their characters out of 160+ characters and also the way every single game is different with a different experience each game makes this like a second life that each person is living through playing the game it's not like a fighting game which is 4 mins of fighting another player and you leave it's 35 minutes with 10 other people that you all interact together with your own persona in the game to work together to see who is going to win, making this game a life of its own and this is the reason it's almost impossible to quit league completely, it becomes a part of you as it becomes your life.

The thing is, I genuinely enjoy the game. Player toxicity doesn't affect me because I'm perma mute all However, the thing that got me was the climb (or lack thereof). Even telling myself I only want to net +1 win for the day, if game 1 is a loss, I now need to win 2 to get +1. And if after 13 games I'm still negative, then the next day would have to make up for it The end of ranked season was my annual reality check to chill the f out. But until the due date I was always grinding

I was clinically addicted to league from 7th grade to the age of 21, in the last year I found day trading and it gave me more dopamine that league ever has and that took my hyper fixation away from league. Worked out perfectly, the psychology from league helped immensely with trading (losing a stacked wave after a obvious dive--- being in negative with a proper setup for example) though the time I was peak addicted to league (19-21) I had some of the most poor mental health of my entire life, still play but less than 7 games a week now

@griffin_kith6214 Месяц назад
@tezra9085 I can't recommend it as a legitimate path to take for for most but for some it's the only way out of 40 hour work weeks. It's doable but it really isn't recommended if you have a more steady approach to financial freedom, get a good job and invest the majority for a few years etc. You can use demo accounts which let's you practice trading on the live market with simulated money, I did that for months refining my strat until I averaged a 75-80% win rate which is much higher than what's considered good so I'm sure I'll drop a bit eventually. However after getting my demo from 50k to 106k in 2 months I decided it was time to switch to live, crunched the numbers and on a 20k live account figured out I can pull in $800-$1500 a day with my losing days being $80-200 on average and made the switch. I also truffle hunt as a 2nd source of income (there's more money in it than you'd think)

That's the point of addiction - even when it makes you feel bad, quitting it abruptly can cause withdrawal, causing the addicted to rush back to make themselves feel better. It really is not that different from, let's say, alcoholism minus the liver damage.
@oliveluchs5132
@oliveluchs5132 Месяц назад
For me, it wasn't that hard to quit League, because I prepared myself for this scenario. When I started playing League it was out of a joke. My friends were playing like, and I was like "It can't be that hard", but that joke and the mind to prove something threw me into the abyss. Now I see almost all the red flags that were handed to me in my early stages. Veteran players not wanting to really explain what I was supposed to do, but also complain why I'm throwing so much. Then people tried to explain the different lanes to me, but it became a bad joke: everyone explained things differently and scolded me for things others told me to do. That stage ended with me getting too annoyed to ask for help and I just started creating my own play style, especially with me coming from another competitive game, CSGO. I knew, I wasn't able to solo-carry anything until the end. I always knew, I needed a team to really be able to perform, but that seemed like the biggest insult to other players. Random players will give a fuck about you most of the time, but if your pre-mates decide to not care and abuse you as a child or to lower the mmr... That was disgusting. Being treated like a sacrificial lamb was way too disrespectful. The drill to get better became higher every time, just to prove that I wasn't useless in the game, and it took way too much time to reach that point. So I arrived at a weird crossroads: When I kept playing with the veteran players, I just got hella beaten, but when I played with friends in my elo, I just decimated the enemies, because I was used to harder matches. It wasn't fun and it wasn't entertaining. I don't like that kind of games, where the odds are predestined and not even at 50:50. Yet I kept playing just to try to climb the ladder. Just from Iron to Gold. That was my goal and became misery. Every win was followed by three loses, and even asking the community for help became pretty useless. There are too many people in it, who think of League like the holy grail. I don't want to go too deep into that part, because it still kinda triggers me, yet I want to share that part: I was told, that every lose was my own fault. Even if I played a perfect game and lost because of two trolling teammates. It was supposed to be my fault. They started blaming me for mistakes of other people, and that was crazy. This experience became one of the final nails in the coffin for my time playing League. The second followed shortly after, when I got insulted as one of the worst persons, who ever lived on Earth, just because I asked a question. In the last stages of my time with League I saw so many red flags and also felt the consequences. I realized how the game messed with my mental-health and brought the worst things in others and me to the light. Even my body started to tell me to stop playing, and these two aspects were the last nails in the coffin. I quitted League so that my health would not suffer unnecessarily. Of course, I tried to find a reason to return in the first days after my last game. This made me realize: It's an addiction. I never really had that much fun with the game and logic said I have no valid reason to return, and I haven't since and don't intend to. The first two weeks showed me how much time I had wasted with League and I dedicated my time to return to my backlog of games. Since I quitted, I feel more balanced, in general I feel way better, and I'm slowly recovering to a place, where I feel I belonged all the time. I had to travel through the abyss to see what I need in a game and in life. With some mental help, I could return to other hobbies of my past. Every time I'm in a call with my friends, who are still playing, I also realize two things: they are getting closer to the abyss and are standing on razor's edge. The second thing I noticed was that I did a pretty good job on my lane, because almost every game they are complaining about the randoms, who now play my role. This makes me laugh every time. I may have not reached my goal in Ranked, but I reached a not planned goal with me being an important team player and a pretty good laner. I left a mark and that's enough for me. Not only that, but I also learned to care more about myself and my mental health, and that was the most important lesson. I don't know who and how many people will have read this story, but I just wanted to share it to release some weight. Thank you to everyone who read until the end. Have a nice day and do what you think is the right way for you

@@vanderexplains Thanks mate, much appreciated. To be honest, I could tell my story in more depth, but then I would probably have a small novel. The biggest issue with the League community is that if you want to quit, a loud minority will call you a sour loser, who basically rage-quits because he sucks. And that's not the reason most of the time. These people always forget that not everyone loves League as much as they do. If League wasn't your first competitive game and your roots are located in games like CS or Rainbow Six, in my opinion, you see certain things differently. You are pretty aware of the toxic environment League and Riot have built over the years. But yeah, it's not easy to quit League because your friends will keep playing it after your final match. For me, it also had the consequence, that I had to quit competitive gaming, just because League ruined my inner calm. On the other hand, I also know, that I reached a point, where I cannot play other multiplayer games with most of my friends because they breathe League. Now, being on your own most of the time playing single-player games is great on the side, because no one but you can ruin your experience. On the other side, while others are playing League, you cannot talk with them. I'm no crusader with anti-League propaganda, I won't tell anyone, they have to quit. They are all free people. It's not on me, but I'm not blind, and they get worse day by day. Sometimes even a graveyard is more joyful than people playing League and that's freaking sick! Some also say they play League, because they hate themselves, and tried to talk me into thinking the same. It didn't matter if it was in my active time or after it, I could always honestly say, I was the one, who never felt that way. I never hated myself and I do not need to harm myself. League and its community are a weird bunch, and I'm happy to be gone from their direct influence. I also said to myself, that if my friends get too toxic, I will tell them straight to their faces. One last thing I almost forgot: I know, there are people, who really love League and it's their right to do so. If you're having fun with it, it's great! BUT you should not forget, that even you can be a reason, why others are losing their fun and a good time. No one is innocent in League. Most of the time you just don't realize what makes you toxic... Again thank you for giving me the stage to tell my parts of my story, even if it became long again. It's important for others, who are on the verge of quitting League, to know, that they are not alone. There are people, who felt the same and that's okay even if you get branded as a sour loser. It's okay. You have to do, what's right for you and not what a community dictates to you. The only advice I can give is to see through the curtain of illusion and to see the truth behind it.

Hey @oliveluchs5132 , write away brother, I would love to hear your story in more depth, but before giving you my response, I just want to say how grateful I am that I can engage with the community like this and spur conversations and discussions with people like you. Honestly a little bummed that RU-vid didn't alert me of your reply, if they did, I would have probably jumped in sooner. That is also what I have seen personally, I myself have been guilty of being the one spewing toxicity to the team, which in hindsight is something that I really should avoid. But to attest to your point, yes it does happen especially in games like LoL. I do hope that your friends could understand what you are feeling or going through, it's tough for sure if your friend group, lives and breathes League. Where single player games are really fun and personal, you are right, you can sometimes miss the camaraderie from playing with friends. I have been way too deep in Assasins Creed myself and i miss playing the multiplayer games. To be honest, in my point of view at least, people who are way too far down the world of League are the ones who need help the most. They might deny that they are doing fine or even as you mentioned, they said that they "hate themselves" so they continue on the never-ending grind. Well in fact, they might be missing out on other beautiful things that can be enjoyed in the world. I for one am glad to hear that you are aware of that fact and manage to realize the pain that can be caused by gaming to such lengths. Toxicity in the community could be discussed in an entirely separate video as it is for sure multifaceted and affected by various different parties. I too take that stand, if you can put LoL as a leisurely activity and enjoyment then that is fantastic, but if you realize that it is making you become someone you don't even feel good about looking in the mirror. It is probably time to reflect and reassess. Absolutely, I hope you always feel comfortable sharing stories such as this. This community of RU-vid and our small but growing community in VanderExplains encourages open discussions and healthy debate. Thanks again for sharing, I'm sure others who have read your comment could find some form of enlighten or solace by reading this. All the best, stay safe, and I will see you around. Vander

@@vanderexplains Thanks for taking the time to read my story. I could keep telling my story, but it's just way too long. I wrote it and it became over 1000 words long 😅😂 So I just want to share one part of it and that's about what happened during 2 of my last 2 three games: So I slowly prepared for my final game and announced it to my friends. They understood my reasons. Now I'm arriving in my last three games. Before them, I already was on a short hiatus, but I returned, because another friend of mine, who was new to League, wanted to try it. It was clear from the start, that the wisest move would be to let him be my support to get into the game. I made two mistakes on that day during the two games that we played. The first one was, that I misunderstood my friend and thought that he already had played League, which was not the case. So I was with him on the bot lane with higher expectations which he could've never fulfilled. I became angry and harsh to him. The second mistake I made was that during champ select I already got triggered by another mate who kept interrupting me, while I tried to tell our friend, what champion he should pick. There was one sentence that triggered me and I try to quote what my mate said to our friend: "Don't listen to him, he has no clue." This made me burn on the inside. I'm with a newby on a lane, my job is to help him get into the game and I try to find a champ, that's easy to play and works with my pick so that he doesn't get annihilated. I was an ADC main and I knew what I was doing and what I needed and this mate undermined me and screwed me over. During these two games, I treated my friend unfairly and released my fury on him. After the game, another friend explained to me, that he had never played League before and asked why I was so harsh to him. After my fury had left me, I saw my mistake and I realized that I made the same mistake that the veteran players had made with me during my early stages. What I did was wrong and unjust. I excused myself and explained myself. I saw my misbehaviour and I atoned for it. After that, I had my last game and won it with a random Naafiri support, who thought she was the mid-laner, against Vayne and Alistair. That's how my League era ended. Thanks again for offering me a stage to tell my story and I hope that my story will help and reach the right people. The ones, who seek help, will find help eventually. Don't give up your hope and don't do things just to please other people or spend time with them. There are better and healthier ways to do so

Hey @oliveluchs5132, no problems at all, happy to read through them honestly. And the story you shared above, I honestly feel the same. Though I never really tried to teach my friend, I did try to teach my fiance once, and i became easily frustrated too when little mistakes happen. I didn't like how I was behaving towards someone i cared about, so that was like a reality check to me. Reading your story, eerily brought back those memories and I for one do not want to act like that again. I'm glad you realised it too. That is amazing my friend. No worries, I hope other people who are browsing through RU-vid and stumble upon your comment, could feel a sense of comfort. Have a good one my friend, take care

@@vanderexplains hello there, i have some stuff to do, working, playing piano, teaching my small brother, but when it comes to league time i can play whole night, avg 5-8h daily it can be worse, rn im trying to play like 2-3 games on my main acc and enjoy time on alt acc with friends, but still it takes me too much time

Hey @elgato2159, wow that is a pretty packed schedule and helping out your sibling as well, kudos to you my friend. But yea, at night, I suppose that is when you find your "me" or "alone" time and then boom, before you know it 3 games have passed. I'm glad that you recognized it and could identify that it could negatively impact precious time spent. I suppose, you can try to just use it as a leisurely outlet to enjoy gaming and nothing more, hopefully you can further balance your already busy schedule. All the best, Vander

League players aren't inherently toxic the lack of VC makes people want to grab others through the screen and choke them cause you/teammates can't communicate properly. In CS:GO even if your teammate was shit you would flame them, they would flame you back, maybe everyone would throw a slur here or their or someone would scream into their microphone, or everyone buys some weird gun and rush their spawn to go behind them and probably losing the play, but it would still be an enjoyable experience, in league you chat one "bad thing" with no bad words and every single person in the lobby reports you and you get muted for 2 weeks making you hate the game even more. Also what in the #14 burgerking foot lettuce is this video, it's boring and not engaging, at least crop some people smoking league from a crack pipe, the pacing is too slow the script sounds like you wrote most of it and then told chat-GPT to add to it. I can see you put in a lot of effort and I'm not discrediting you cause you did some good work, just hoping to give some constructive criticism. PS This video doubled my league addiction didn't give it to the next person.

Hey @robert7100 thanks for leaving a comment and sharing your thoughts. I suppose not having a VC can have both good and bad effects, but that frustration and the ease of lashing out to your team members or opposing team, is what makes it dubbed one of the most toxic communities out there. I wish there could be some way to moderate league as if regular people were playing on a stage setting, like similar how pros do it, we rarely see toxicity happen on the big stage, at least not as far as im aware. Also, I really appreciate your critique of the video. I will put that into account and see what I can do better on my next vid. All the best, Vander
@robert7100
@robert7100 Месяц назад
@@vanderexplains I'm glad my criticisms were of help to you. The thing about pros is they're basically obligated to not be toxic or do something that would hurt the reputation of their team which could potentially ruin a/multiple sponsorship deal(s) . It would cost a lost of money to have people monitoring games and realistically it's impossible to have every player be "regular people". On the big stage they might not outright be toxic but they do emote but I think there's settings so spectators don't see it when they're streaming a comp game. There was a case where someone hosted a tournament and emoticons weren't allowed and a team got disqualified because someone had an emote for first bloods cause they forgot to remove it before the game. Also the psychological effect of VC would surprise you, it might be harder for someone flame a teammate cause even if they're right someone or multiple people in the VC might call them out or console them for being toxic or just tell them to chill out, even the pressure of getting called out for being a douche is enough. Sometimes people die and they get mad but some deaths have value cause if someone just got 4 man ganked the people on the other side of the map can take advantage of that and take objectives or whatever it be. All you really need in a team is a decent shot caller and teammates that are willing to listen, they don't even have to be that much more skilled compared to whoever they're facing. Not that you need VC at all but who doesn't like quality of life changes. I'd rather have a bad player as a teammate than someone running it down, not helping with fights, taking your jungler's camps, a bad teammate can at least listen and be there for objectives and fights. Here's another criticism, if you want more security stay making videos in a specific niche, I get right now you might be experimenting cause I see you made different videos on varying topics, but when you find a niche you like stick to it and you'll slowly start getting more viewers from that community, surprisingly you can make a decent amount of money without getting 500k+ views per vid, if you find a small niche youtube will pay more cause not that many people are making videos for that niche so the profits are more free to spread around if you get what I'm saying.(I'm a little tired so I wasn't sure how to word it properly) :)

No seriously , people joke about it but league is absolutely HORRIBLE for your life . I just need you to realize that your rank , performance etc does NOTHING for you in life but impress the other losers who play with you. Not losers because of who they are or what they do. But losers because of how every functional person in society will see them and you once you leave your room.

I'm sorry but this is kind of idiotic in my opinion. League of Legends is ONLY addictive if you have an addictive personality. IF you have an addictive personality, and you recognize your relationship with the game is unhealthy, it is then a matter of willpower and self control to maintain a healthy balance, as is EVERY SINGLE LEASURE in life. You CANNOT simply blame what it is you're addicted to, you are 100% responsible for your behaviors, because if that is your logic then why enjoy anything that provides you with intrigue if you simply cannot control yourself?
@vanderexplains
@vanderexplains Месяц назад
Hey there thanks for leaving a comment. And i think there is merit to your point as well. But i do have to say that addiction affects everyone differently and in some worse than others, but to your point, at the end it is a choice and the constant struggle to give in and the act of feeding that addiction that drives people even deeper into it. But if you compare this to alcohol or substance addiction, you can also say that it is 100% their responsibility not to behave a certain way. Even on the other end of the scale, someone who is a workaholic, could also be someone struggling with addiction, the constant pursuit of more. That said, addiction no matter what form, is being fought by many of us to a certain degree. I just hope that we all can realise, that there shouldn't be one singular thing that a person should solely focus their time and efforts into, there is more to the world and more to life. Thanks again for bringing the discussion to the community, love a healthy debate. Stay safe and take care have a lovely day

@@vanderexplains addiction is an extremely complex issue to tackle, ive dealt with it myself with substance and video games/media and have been surrounded by it my entire life. When you really break it down the main source of addiction most of the time is derivative of things like trauma and mental illness. Once you can find and treat the underlying issue, you will be able to better understand why it is you feel the need to so deeply indulge in these behaviors and will be more willing and able to take the steps of separating yourself from the addiction. Blaming the substance itself is only the first step to a very long and arduous process of fighting and eventually conquering that addiction. Basically my point is the thing that is the addiction is not whats to blame, it is almost always an intrapersonal and underlying issue such as the inability to cope and/or untreated mental illness; such as ADHD, bipolar disorder etc.

@@vanderexplains i do apologize if my comment is unnecessarily overanalyzing, but since I've dealt with and still am dealing with addiction, i just think its important to understand that you should not feel guilty for enjoying certain things because they can be addictive, so long as you are willing to accept that it may be something that is difficult for you to have a healthy balance with and are actively taking steps to ensure you aren't going balls to the wall with it
@vanderexplains
@vanderexplains Месяц назад
No please don't apologize, all is well here. Heck I even encourage and want conversations or healthy discussions to spur through my videos, and I'm glad it did. What you said above made me look at more perspectives and also educates me on the real-world experiences from the community. Trauma and mental illness, in my opinion that is for sure a huge factor that can impact a persons' tendency and necessity to find that outlet, in this case gaming. A book called "The Myth of Normal" by Dr. Gabor Maté dives into childhood trauma, I'm in the early stages of the book myself but I find it compelling. Anyways, I digress. I just feel glad that you are here sharing your stories with us. Addiction is indeed multifaceted and complex as you said, but yea, the first step is admitting, realizing and accepting it. Thanks again @JayBones121 for sharing.
