What if the distributor doesn't have point and it's an electronic distributor? Will the test light method still work?

Remember to have the ignition key in the ON position so that the coil is energized.

Jacking the rear of the car on that transaxle brace is not recommended. It can bend.

My carb leaks very slowly out of idle jets when shut off, is that controlled by electric fuel valve solenoid ?

The side mounted mechanical fuel pumps will easily dump fuel into the crankcase when that particular seal fails as well. Not that, that applies to this motor at all.

I have 71 Super that turns over but won't catch, so I tried what you reccommended and sure enough only a couple of drops came out of the hose, I had my wife pump the peddle and try to start the car but got nothing, so I guess my problem is in the front. My fuel filter is in the front, what should I check next? Thanks

.006 = noisy valve train. This is how dinosaurs do it. .002. Cold, or zero when hot.

that funny i used this same thing many years ago when i broke down.. I always carried and extra set-of points because my cars were always so old and most auto places did not have them in stock
