I need the tabs for this badly. My mother used to sing this song for me and I'd love to be able to play it when her time comes. All I can tell right now is that this is dadgad
Lowden...My dream Guitar! Likely the finest guitar generally available today, beautifully played, Thanks. I have three Taylor's, two which are high end...if I sold all three I would not have enough to buy a Lowden.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. You touched on all of the components of a guitar’s make up. You speak with the love and passion that only a guitar player would know and feel with these instruments. Thank you for your video.
You really are a blessing Mr. Ackerman. You have two of ten of my most coveted guitars; a 1969 D28 and a Monteleone. You are a well deserved steward of these instruments. Nothing is owned. We are privileged with the honour to nurture these instruments, create music and pass them on. It has to be this way.
My guitar playing has improved a little of late. I was listening to you play and my wife came in and thought what she heard was me playing (I have a Lowden too) We collapsed into laughter because I am not nearly as competent! Beautiful rendition and an aspirational target.
Hello Tony, nice guitar, good vibes, congratulations and thank you very much, what is your favorite mini-size electro-acoustic? Which one could you recommend as a life partner? Best regards, love and peace.
I love how you communicate the experience of the guitar rather than the technical traits. The latter is important but never the whole story. I was born in 1969 and its always been on my mind to one day have a guitar from that year enter my life. I agree with you about what a guitar is to its current possessor. But I tend to use the word stewardship instead of caretaker. Bless you. Watching this vid was a special experience. And your hymn to the blues is so measured and natural at the same time. Lovely musical fragment indeed.
How pretty! I love hearing it on steel strings. Yes, it is a sad song about the Irish diaspora, the de facto anthem of Ireland. You know what Yeats said about the Irish? "Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy, which sustained him through temporary periods of joy."
I saw one of your video about D28 and watched it till the end. I was intrigued by your playing of Elizabeth Cotten song and subscribed. I went ahead and checked out your other videos and found this one. It was 6AM and a bit sleepy but I was so taken by the music and it gave me that sense of peace and joy. What a great piece of guitar playing. Well done and thank you. I can't wait to check out the other videos.. Please do Autumn Leaves if you can.
The first one on RU-vid that talks about the shoulder and playing standing up. Wow. So it’s not only me. I understand now. Is the D18 also less curvy? I play it also standing up.
