I have just started learning guitar at 67 yo and thought I was doing OK - I'll be 712 yo before I can play like this guy - I loved the Lowden.

You really are a blessing Mr. Ackerman. You have two of ten of my most coveted guitars; a 1969 D28 and a Monteleone. You are a well deserved steward of these instruments. Nothing is owned. We are privileged with the honour to nurture these instruments, create music and pass them on. It has to be this way.

You Sir are what I call a well-rounded musical genius. I am just getting started on guitar at 62 and you are such an inspiration. Now I just need a guitar. My cat killed my Larrivee with a heavy picture frame that crushed the side and put a long crack in it.

This is one guy I would very much like to reside next door to..... What a gift he is to the world of music..

Fabulous, thank you. I have a Martin 000-28, a D-28 and recently sold my D12-28 (as I wasn't playing it much). These instruments are such a joy to play and a privilege to own. Loved the sound of all of yours so much.

Tony was my guitar teacher a lifetime ago in Rome. I was very young, and very stupid, and did not stick around long enough to soak up more knowledge; but to this day I easily apply every bit that Tony taught me back then. The minute that 12 string started singing it made me think of Pete Seeger, and Leadbelly obviously. 5 types of wood, all continents, so good.

I want all that guitars, but God, I want your hands more

"They're like five old friends." Funny. When I pick up one of my guitars to play I often say out loud, "Hello old friend!" True. 73' Gibson Les Paul, newer Fender Strat Elite, Taylor 816ce, G&L Strat, and a Hohner kickaround--thought I would never purchase but the low end captured my ear like no other. This one is always in reach--for me and anyone else who would like to play.

The Martin's , though nice sounding ones, were definitely the runts of the litter lol - it's just being compared to the other ones. But then what blew my mind is that last beast, holy mackerel

I'll tell you what I could take that Lowden with which you are weaving such a lovely spell and within a minute transport us all to the happily comatose draft beer spattered clatter of a Saturday afternoon jam - replete with an endless parade of crinkled and withering "hits of yesteryear" that simply.refuse. to. die... capped off with a rousing deconstruction of "Bad Moon Rising," that is almost guaranteed to make you want to take your own life: such is the magnetic force of my ineptitude. I say all as a reminder that every great instrument still needs a great player to bring it all to perfect fruition which is certainly what you have achieved here Tony! Beautiful guitars + beautiful playing!

Aside from the guitars --- I enjoyed how much you obviously enjoy music and playing music on those five. Surprised there wasn't a Taylor among them, though, perhaps the new bracing on Taylor's that has sonic results that seem quite amazing. (One day I hope to be able to afford one!)

a cool collection Tony.. as a Collins C10 owner who has visited many music stores and tried out many makes and models of left handed acoustics over the last 40 or so years I'de have to say that the lefty Lowden cutaway that looks fairly similar to yours that I tried out last year blew away every other acoustic that I've ever played for it's sound, playability and response, good choice mate... I'm still saving up for one... maybe one day

That Martin D-28 is one hell of a guitar if he's been beating on it like that for that long.

I have 12 guitars, including both of his martins, and also a violin, dobro, banjo, ukulele , mandolin, and a mini-guitar. I also play the penny whistle and electric guitars. How anyone could stick with only guitar is a puzzle for me

They all sound wonderful but that classical guitar is awesome; never heard of Papazian but he was obviously right up there with the best.

A wonderful insight to your world of guitars. As a huge Lowden fan I'd have to say the F32C is my favourite of your collection. However, the Monteleone is special, he's obviously a very talented Luthier. The point being emphasised by Knopfler's homage to his guitar building skills in the song Monteleone. A very high accolade indeed.
