Zambian cooking is all about the tomato, onion and salt. That’s it. Any other “western” spices are just a bonus if you have / want, but our food is so natural and tasty that it shines just with these things. Authentic Zambian vegetables/ fish / beef / chicken shines with just tomato, onion and salt. Nice recipe Mutale and thanks for showing Zambian cooking to the world.
As a new nkungulume this was very helpful. Please also make visashi, lumanda and other traditional foods. Now that I no longer have my mothers cooking I need of such videos
Great video!! Was just wondering if sweet potatoes can be done with the goal of gainig weight. Adding peanut butter, butter/olive oil and cheese(manged to find 50% cheese).
Wonderful looking recipe. You did an awesome job on explaining it. I'm trying to recreate a dish similar to this that I got at a burger joint called "Paradise Bar & Grill" in Arlington, Texas. They've went out of business, but it was something like this. But, the potatoes were cubed at the first and had their skins pealed. I think they had parsley and italian seasoning on them. Boy, were they good. We ate them by dunking them in ketchup. So, I'm trying to recreate it, because I just can't anyone online who is making the recipe or knows how to do it. Also, they were a slight bit fried or maybe just crisped. Anyway, thanks for helping with some ideas.
Stay completely away from margarine!!! That is deadly poison that the FDA does nothing about! It's unnatural, highly processed and is full of dangerous chemicals! Nothing clogs up arteries, gives strokes, heart attacks and cancer like ingesting margarine! Eat and cook with healthy butter! You won't be sorry! If you have any margarine in the house, throw it out immediately!
this literally the best video on RU-vid about this. but with the black hands, of course it is.all these other videos be leaving that shi chunky and dry
The Chinese people also eat sweet potato leaves. I am also Zambian like this lady and live in London. It is very hard to buy the fresh leaves. So one day I was watching a Chinese cooking channel that was cooking sweet potato leaves. So I said to myself let me go and try buying from a Chinese supermarket and sure enough I found them there. They too were surprised that we eat them in Zambia. The Chinese are a famously hardworking people so you can rely on them to bring the vegetables to market.
Hello ,sorry for the late reply been busy with school. So after I added peanut to the sweet potatoes, the next thing I added was 2 table spoons of sugar but if you don't want to it to be too sweet, you can reduce the quantity. Thank you
Are you able to show the actual sweet potato from where the slips came? My husband loves this dish but we are unable to find it in local markets. I am planning to grow it. Btw, my brother-in-law's name is Mutale 😃
Aww that's awesome. Am sure they must be from Zambia too. There is this video I made, sweet potatoes in peanut sauce. It's there in my Playlist, you will definitely see the actual sweet potatoes. Thank you so much for stopping by.
