Iv mentioned before how iv put together an almost full bag of PXG gear for getting towards £0, which is the ultimate goal by buying and selling on ebay, with a few notable additions which I paid full price for. One a Taylormade mini driver 2024 (because I just wanted one) with the other one being a gen 6 7 wood which is rapidly becoming one of my favourite clubs. The final one being a 317X driving iron. My total cost of the bag excluding the TaylorMade now stands me at around £650 not the desired £0. But fear not because on my ebay account soon (next -80% final fee day) will be a Gen6 driver, Gen5 driver, a mackdaddy wedge, a Ping Chipr, and possibly a PXG Brandon putter with M16 shaft. (Possibly). Also some PXG golf balls and hats. This should comfortably put me at £0 for the PXG full bag and leave me some spare cash to start a second £0 challenge, either a Honma bag (awesome used values) or a Srixon bag because I just like the look. A footnote on the full price 7 wood and 317X driving iron, they weren't full price because as ex forces I am a member of PXG'S heroes program and get pretty stiff discounts on everything I pick up at PXG. Anyway back to the 7 wood, just buy one, you won't be disappointed it's such a flexible weapon to have in the bag.
I love my Fitted 14 clubs of PXG 0211 clubs !!! Hope to see you Chris with a full bag of fitted PXG clubs!! Hope there was a 0317 iron fitting video that's coming soon !!!!!
I’m not sure of the point of these videos anymore. Dave’s ball flight was transformed in his fitting by changing shafts and lie angle. The Takomo head performed as well as any other. So a conclusion seems to be buy heads only and get fitted (I think the improvement looked even more dramatic on the driver). I can’t wait to see Dave using his “new” driver! I’m don’t remember the cost of the new shafts for Dave so maybe you can tell us when he has the driver as well?
Have the TAKOMO 101 ‘ for my second set4-PW $460.00 Delivered are Awsome !can work the ball ,also have the King Cobra Forged Tech ,Hollow Body which I bought used 4-Gap wedge in near mint for $650.00 new $1,000.00 up .Both Brands are Awsome .Shot 73 Thursday and 76 Friday with my Takomo’s and Today gonna play my Forged Tech weather Permitting ! Congrats to Shaufflee winning (TheOpen) !
Got the latest pxg 0211 clubs. Fantastic clubs and able to customise how I want. I don't need a custom fit for someone to try and sell me clubs based on their commission I want the options to be able to get what I want without a sales person custom fitting me.
Takomo’s are better than all of the $400-700 iron sets I hit in Stores !Hit em all . Sold My 3 month Old King Cobra Aerojet Irons that I payed $900.00 on sale and bought the Takomo’s which are Forged ,Feel just as good as My $1,600 set of King Cobra Forged Tech Which can be had now for $ 1,000 USD I rotate them and play virtually the same -Last Thursday with the Cobra’s shot 73 and Friday played the Takomo’s and shot 76 on 2 different Courses .Both feel and Distance virtually The same .
I think that Dave could have hit a 3-4 balls with each brand, particularly when he didn’t catch them well. It’d give a more realistic outcome. Though it does reinforce the need for a fitting. Another good video
There are plenty of clubs $400 - $700 in golf stores that are just as good or better then the "direct to consumer" brands. Why would anyone spend good money without hitting them?
Chris you have shown us that the average golfer doesn’t need to break the bank or upset the Mrs by spending a fortune on clubs, spend the savings on lessons
I've been using Decathlon's Inesis 500 irons for the last 2 years and they're fantastic! They were only €420, which is about £350. There is a new forged version available now which I'll be getting later this year.
Spend a little extra with fitted as that will provide you with confidence. Otherwise your trip will be ruined due to your anger at your inconsistency, especially if it's raining during the entire trip.
Hi Chris, largely based on the reviews you and James have done, I purchased a set of Takomo 201 irons to replace my PXG 0211 XCor2's. I am quite enjoying the Takomo's. Hands down, the best bang for your buck. I would put them up against any forged cavity back irons. I appreciate you and James reviewing more affordable clubs. Keep up the good work!
1am is often in the morning even in Norway 😂. I have just picked up a new set of Wilson D7 forged for less than the Kirklands and closer to my specifications. So there are some bargains out there.
