Curiosity, I wonder how often AO customers have blamed Steve for problems not related to Steve service call, and his videos have kept him out of court?
got question my 2 ton heil heatpump has new thing it does cools fine but the outdoor unit when i get home in morning runs for 30 min then after 30 min the outdoor comes on for 15 sec then cuts off then back on over and over like 1000 times till temp inside gets to 71 when i leave to go to work i put it to 73 the compressor starts every time i can tell cause the lights dim the unit is 9 years old and has had the expansion valve inside unit replaced 4 times but never did this when it went out it would just stop cooling drain has no cut off switch on it it could it be a pressure switch on outside unit
When i was a kid we had one of these and i can now say i never knew that this was supposed to happen automatically lol. We always just pulled it out manually, Had the tractor die on me going up a hill one time and lets just say it was a fun ride to the bottom lol.
I have this very same system except its badged as a Rheem Raka. Its10 seer and 24yrs old. Over the years i've only changed the contacts and capacitor. Ive thought of changing it out, but given the cost of new systems and the fact that its only run 3 months out of the year and only for a few days in those months, it doesnt seem worth it. And the new system would probably turn out to be less reliable.😄
Lol that compressor either threw a rod and it wedged and locked the crank in place, or swallowed a reed valve! Ker-plunk, ker-plooey!! Our RUUD is pretty identical and has the original Tecumseh compressor and it still runs like a fine watch! The fans in the condenser and evaporator units too, no refrigerant leaks, never blew a 2 section cap either! (I hope I didn’t just jinx myself!) 😆😆😆 these RUUD units with Tecumseh compressors are BEASTS!! Cheers and L’il Miss Molly is SO cute and sweet! 😋 Cheers, Steve! 👍🏻
@@volvo09 oops. Lol wasn’t sure. Yeah, the scroll compressors tend to be more fragile I hear. Lol running a 3 phase one backwards is hilarious! Ya can then scrap the whole unit! 😆 I was an electrician at a local mall where they were putting a new store in and was reusing the existing feed (type R cloth in buried rigid conduit) from the switch gear room and had all the phases marked, and the electrician that the store chain hired at first interchanged the neutral with one hot and blew 3 expensive 600 amp fuses, so I rang it out with a 2 dollar battery powered continuity tester light, though it was obvious-smaller gauge, white tape I put on! Then after fixing that for him, he didn’t obey the red, black, and blue tape on the main feeds and did his own thing, and hooked up 3 brand new RTU’s with wrong phase rotation and destroyed all 3 scroll compressors in a few seconds! What a derp! The units were removed and scrapped! I bet that cost a pretty penny! 😆😆😆👍🏻
