Huh, very interesting! Glad to see some plants still using the old-styled Horns and such. Do you know if this is their primary warning system or a back up alongside the Whelens?
The horns are primarily meant to alert plant workers of impending danger. The Whelen you hear behind me is part of the Freeport LNG. The area has a public mass notification system too, which was supposed to test the same day I recorded this, but they failed. The main system had Whelens at the time, but all have since been replaced with 2001-130s fairly recently.
It might actually be an S5T. I'm not hearing the famous RS chiff that the newer chambers are known for, that squeal is very much an S chamber characteristic, and photos of this unit see to show a dome back chamber on at least one of the bells. Hard to tell, but that's what it looked like to me. Maybe it's a mix of S and RS heads, but I'd need a better look at it.
