This was an excellent Port Adelaide side and they were the better side on the day, one ponders though whether Brisbane had been allowed to play their preliminary final at the Gabba instead of having to oblige to the M.C.G finals rule.
And on the 20th anniversary of that magnificent victory, wearing that jumper design at their home ground in front of their own supporters what did they do? They shamed the occasion and that precious jumper. They let down their home supporters. They showed they are pretenders. Port Powder Pretenders 👎
Scored some free tickets thanks to my daughter drove from Adelaide after working Friday reliving the memories in 2024 what a journey as a Port Supporter from the sixties full of history to this our greatest achievement
What this Port team did was so incredible. Years of choking, and still broke through the mental barrier to win it all. Most teams would’ve just crumbled. Great group of players led by a fantastic coach.
Unfortunately for port, every time they’ve been good they’ve had to conquer a dynasty team. 2004 v lions, 2007 v cats, 2014 v hawks and 2020 v tigers. They’re 1/4 against these dynasties.
1:26:07 - Pickett wasn't looking anywhere near Wanganeen, yet got the ball to him with pinpoint accuracy. It was around that point that Port looked more likely to win!

An amazing win over the cocky lions. Port Adelaide (my team) had so many amazing players, we deserved to win and demolished the 3x premiership winners. I was just a boy in 2004, but it was a a great day.
