LNP MP Jonathon Duniam makes a speech about the unfairness of the Tasmanian Tax Payer being forced to pay for a $750 Million Dollar Stadium with a roof when no other AFL Team is required to do so. The AFL has stated that the Tasmanian AFL Team will not go ahead unless the Macquarie Point Stadium is built. Despite the AFL and Gillon McLachlan's insistence that the two Stadiums in Tasmania are not up to AFL standard, the AFL has confirmed that both the North Melbourne Kangaroos and Hawthorn Football Clubs will continue to play AFL matches at the venues in 2023, 2024, and 2025. This issue has split the LNP down the middle with some MPS supporting the Tax Payer pay for the Stadium but others opposing it. The ALP, Greens and multiple Independents are all calling the AFL out on their hypocrisy and contempt for the Tasmanian Tax Payer.
